2013 VW Jetta TDI with 80K miles on it. Threw P2002 a couple months ago so I replaced the DPF. After a month went by, the code came back. No black soot is coming from the exhaust. Should I consider replacing the EGR valve? Thank you for all you do.
Cant wait for more cjaa vids I have a 2013 jetta tdi, I had a oil leak, then got fans fixed after not working forever but now cars not leaking oil, probs guna have to take out dpf and clean up oil leak and check the lines maybe replace some stuff and get turbo rebuilt, also might have to do the timing belt rollers I think a roller or two might need changed. Also gotta do alternator and clutch soon
Parts are coming in this week im hoping, if doing the timing belt rollers just get the entire kit and replace all the rollers/belt/water pump and tensioner
hello, I know I'm late to this video but this is exactly what I needed to watch. I have been searching for weeks and weeks about these exact codes on my 2010 vw golf tai. P2002 and P0401. I had initially cleaned out the egr valve and did a forced regen, cleared the codes and they came back about a week later. after watching this video I'm afraid I have a cracked dpf but don't know for certain. I have soot at the end of the exhaust pipe(just sitting there) and it seems like my car never wants to regen? do you think it could be something else other than a cracked dpf? Ive been watching all of your videos and I'm thinking about deleting it to just resolve everything once and for all. thanks a lot
Good chance it’s cracked. This one had soot in the pipe and a light coating on the bumper, my sisters Passat I could stick a white rag inside it and it’d be just as clean afterwards. The emissions systems work awesome on these cars when they’re working.
When the VW shop replaced my DPF under warranty I discovered they never reconnected the lower pressure line with the two bolts (3:27). Would there be any benefit to not having this connected? It didn't throw any codes in the 30k miles I drove before discovering it. It still seemed to have power cut out and stumbling idle which I'm guessing was condensation in the intercooler. Where is the crack on the DPF, why can't you weld it or reinforce the area that cracks? I've heard many people say they crack but I've never seen the crack.
For the low pressure egr tube? I'm surprised it never through a code. Benefit would be less condensation in the charge air circuit, not sure if itll run more high pressure egr in that case? And i saw you found the short on the dpf crack, surprising how little it is.
Hey idk how active you are on the channel but I was going to do the dpf delete would this fix the issue or just cause more issues in the future. I’m going to get the tune as well because you have to when doing the dpf delete
Yes, cant have a plugged egr or cracked dpf if those items arent there. Works well only downside is the legalities of it: ruclips.net/video/45If4aLD-9o/видео.html
I was just wondering, saw your last video with broken turbo causing running issues. Eng8ne having hard time breathing or exhal8ng, which affects air mass meter readings. Would egr flow values use air mass readings to compare what would be expected with egr commanded on or off.
Exactly, the engine requires about 450mg/str of air at idle, so it knows if the maf is only seeing 250 then the remaining will be egr. I imagine between the two egrs and the low pressure egr pressure sensor it’ll know how much of each it needs and uses the pressure sensor and maf to ensure its getting it.
Josh.. If one does NOT have clogged DPF code, only P0401 (and p2457) could it also be a clogged screen, or does that only happen with a cracked dpf, and the code is probably failed EGR system? Tnx
Is it a Passat or Jetta/golf/Beetle. That p2457 is common on Passats with a clogged heater core preventing coolant flow through the egr cooler. I’d wipe the inside of your tail pipe and see if there’s soot, if there is then chances are it’s cracked and just hasn’t set the dpf code yet.
I replaced the DPF and EGR valve only for the same p2002 and p0401 codes to be thrown a month later. Black, dust-like soot in tailpipe. Mechanic said to replace the entire exhaust system. This just sounds lazy when it could be something like a faulty sensor, exhaust leak, cracked hose or air intake inlet.
I imagine the cats and muffler will be full of soot and might take awhile to blow it all out. I’d personally drive it hard for a bit with some high rpm.
@@JoshsJettas thing is, they cleaned it out and did a forced regen when the CEL first came on. I've been taking it on the highway every weekend for 30 minutes at 75mph since then...light still came back on a month after that. They said the exhaust would need replaced if it came back on. I'm taking it for a second opinion if they tell me that again next weekend. Just seems like mechanics around Dallas don't really care to do deeper diagnostics.
Great job mate you solved my P0401 thanks a lot!

Thanks for explaining CJA & CBE EGR.

Does this problem harm the engine more or does it exit more soot out and keep the engine cleaner.

Love to see it
How can I tell if my DPF is in fact cracked? Is it worth swapping the sensor if that’s maybe the issue instead?
Any soot in the tail pipe will be a dead give away, I could run a white t-shirt in my sisters Passat and it would come out spotless.

@@JoshsJettas jetta, Cjaa. I did a pre-buy inspection the other day.
What if my differential pressure sensors are reading a lot of pressure still?
High pressure while cranking? The DPF can face plug causing a large pressure differential.
@@JoshsJettas ah I’m seeing about 2.5-5 psi at idle and anywhere from 30-75 psi on the highway running about 2K rpm.
how you know that? @@stump3514
Mate what can cause p0113 code?
the code for intake air temp, might be the map sensor as its the temp sensor as well
