Lundgren M7 Demo

  • This is a still untitled song that I recorded using Lundgren Pickups M7 set. Gotta say that I'm majorly impressed with these pickups! The first solo (up to 1:15) is on the M7 bridge pickup, the rest of the solos thereafter are all on the M7 neck pickup. Clean guitar is middle position, using a blend of both bridge and neck.
    Guitar is a BRJ Jekyll 724 with a mahogany body, spalted maple top, maple neck, and ebony fretboard. Guitar was recorded with a Kemper Profiling Amplifier, using a profile that I made of my Peavey 6505 through a Marshall 1960A loaded with V30 speakers.
    DAW is Presonus Studio One 2 Pro.

    Awesome playing and riffs! It's nice to see someone using a 7 string with heavy riffs instead of just high-speed alternate picking every note as fast as they can. Good stuff man, keep it up!

    There's a very good reason why these pickups cost 250€ a piece. You can hear it and feel it when you play. Its the same reason i put them in all of my extended range guitars. Lundgren ftw!

    I have a ESP Horizon Kiso Built CTM with Black Heavens that I absolutely love. I also have a Schecter C7FR SLS Elite that has a set of Fishman Fluence in it and they sound horrible with string 5,6 and 7. I want to install a set of Lundgren M7 for neck and bridge in my C7. Would you recommend a 500k volume pot for M7 or nah? I am also considering the Black Heavens 7 for my C7 also. It is impossible to get a review on you tube with Black Heavens 7 string.

    • @GordOlson
      @GordOlson  5 лет назад

      I'm in the exact same situation actually. I have that same guitar (SLS Elite) and I hate those Fluence pickups too. I have a set of M7C in my old Loomis 7 that I'm going to pull out and install in the SLS. (There's a video here on my channel with that guitar and pickup set.) Yes, 500k pot is what I'm using.
      The Black Heaven set would also be great, they're amazing pickups, but as far as I know, Lundgren doesn't offer them in the active route, soapbar case. So I would say yeah go for the M7C set. The tone isn't actually much different between the M and the BH series, it's more in the feel of them, for me. The M's are a little more aggressive and percussive. Both brilliant pickup sets though!
      (I actually made a video with the 7 string Black Heaven set as well, you can find that one on the Lundgren channel!)

      @Rocksteady176 5 лет назад

      @@GordOlson Thanks for the input man! I am definitely going to get a set of M7C. I am sure they will have more higher tone versus the Fishmans. I know my Black heavens in my ESP sure do.

    • @GordOlson
      @GordOlson  5 лет назад +1

      @@Rocksteady176 You'll love them man. For me, and what I like, the M7C completely destroys the Fishmans. Cheers!

    what are your thoughts on the sound clarity and tightness of the Lundgren M7 when compared to the Seymour Duncan Nazgul?

    • @johnv1684
      @johnv1684 6 лет назад

      The M7 is a step above the Nazgul in pretty much every way. Such clarity without compromising output is an impressive feat which personally i haven't experienced with any other pickup. I had nazgul in my Dellinger7 and although i was very happy with it i've changed it with a m7 and i was blown away. It literally transformed the guitar. However the nazgul is still the more sensible choice as it is a much cheaper pickup with a solid and tight tone.

    Hi gord ! can you tell me if these guitar sound with more volume than your schecter-lundgren. I have a schecter7 with lundgren picks and sounds lower in comparision with 6 guitars

    • @GordOlson
      @GordOlson  8 лет назад

      hmm No, I never had any volume issues with the Lundgrens. Output volume was similar to any other guitar/pickup combination. Perhaps faulty wiring, or faulty volume pot?

      Yeah I just write music and put it up, I didn't even notice that until much later. I've never really done in-depth demos like that. But it IS an M7 set... and it's not like the B string sounds much different than the E. You're hearing the pickup's character, so I thought that people should be able to imagine what those 5 extra notes would sound like. If you really need to hear the low B string though, I have other videos using the M7 on my channel. Check this one

      Codie Waldvogel I actually noticed that the slide/tapping part was pretty similar to the slide/tap in the Pestilence solo but aside from that, it doesn't sound remotely close.
