Testing out the new Lundgren Black Heaven pickups in this video. Excellent, excellent pickups! They sound very similar to Lundgren's famous M series, but maybe with slightly less output, and a slightly different feel as well. Not as dry, not as percussive as the M's, a little more forgiving. A really wonderful experience to play. Incredible note separation, and aside from killer high gain sounds, they do the low gain and clean tones exceptionally well too. I'm playing the Alnico version in this video, but you can also get them with Ceramic magnets if you prefer. Recommended for any rock or metal player!
The guitar is a Schecter KM6, and all the guitar and bass tones are coming from a Line 6 Helix Rack loaded with Ownhammer IRs (from vol. 1 of their excellent Heavy Hitters Collection)

Do you guys recommend alnico or ceramic for the BH bridge? I play death metal. Your tone sounds sick!
@@gibson381 I tested them both, and under high gain I honestly didn't notice any appreciable difference. They both are fantastic pickups! On clean tones is where I could hear the difference between them. Not huge, but the alnico is a bit more full spectrum sounding, with a rounded tone, and the ceramic sounds a bit more scooped and chimey. So if you do clean tones, you may need to consider that, but otherwise, take your pick. They're both awesome.

At first I thought you were playing through a Kemper as usual but it was a Helix! Damn if it sounds that good and definitive I must have one. The Kemper seemed like a little too expensive to me after all.
timoteus96 Yeah I've had the Helix for a couple of months now, and I'm REALLY impressed with it. Sounds and feels very real to me. Great unit!
I've been following the Black Heaven demos and this is the best of them by far. You gave a great impression of both rythm, lead and clean tones this pickup can deliver.

Jonas Hjälmén Thank you so much! This is actually the Alnico version here. I made a separate video that Lundgren will be releasing in the next few days that also has some isolated A/B clips between the Alnico and Ceramic versions, so keep an eye on their channel for that.

How do the Black Heavens compare to the M7? Tightness, output, string clarity, etc?
I just bought a multi-scale and every guitar I own will have Lundgren's, after putting the M7 in my Jackson Misha I'm sold. Just keep hearing about this model a lot. Thanks much 💜👍
Black Heavens are my favorite overall, they are a little more versatile I think. The M's are tighter, more dry, and a little grainier in nature. Black Heaven saturates a little more, and is a bit looser in feel. For tone, they both sound very similar, the biggest difference is feel imo. That being said, I absolutely love both sets, and use them both regularly. Both have amazing clarity and articulation, and both are not actually that hot, in terms of output. They sound very aggressive, but the actual output isn't that high, which I love, it makes them very versatile with clean tones as well.

Hello Gord, I was just wondering, which pup do you like better? M series or Black Heaven? I had an Agile with an M8 and it was the thickest, heaviest, and had the most sustain I’ve ever heard! Are the black heaven on par or better in your opinion? Thanks man, and great playing!!
Tonally, they aren't much different to be honest. Maybe a little bit in the mids, but the difference in the sound is small. The big difference in them is the feel. The M's are very hard and percussive feeling... unforgiving. Cold and clinical, in an awesome way! The Black Heaven has a more forgiving feel, maybe a little lower output, a little easier to control. Less clinical, just feels a little easier. Warmer clean tones, maybe a little more fun to play on. You can be a little more relaxed, whereas the M makes me feel like I have to have my game face on at all times! I love both of them, to be honest, I can't say that I prefer one over the other. They are kind of like two shades of the same color.

I don't think so. I don't have a JB anymore, but I had one for several years, and to me it definitely has a different voice than the Lundgren.
