I have a Basswood body guitar, Jackson, and my Black Heaven Alnico 7 just arrived. I think the "darkness" and chunk of this pickup is going to blend perfect!
You think black Heavens would do well in swamp ash?

nvm, i just read that youre using the alnico version. I was wondering why it was much more rounded and warm than mine. im rocking the ceramic ones IIRC

Love the Framus guitar. What model is that? If anyone knows please let me know. However,wish these videos were just plain recordings of what is being demonstrated, without the full instrumentation. Sounded good though, for what i could isolate.

Regarding the issue of raw vs in a band mix, I completely understand and respect your opinion. However it was my desire to show these pickups off in the most accurate way possible and in a context that IMO is most beneficial to most musician who ultimately desire to either record or play these live.
But again, we made sure the tone was accurate and not overly processed, to keep them true to life. IMO if you like how these sound in our video, you should like them in real life too :)

what impulse responses do you use with torpedo?

Adam kahn sorry, not gonna replicate this video again. Basswood 7s have always sounded great with these amps, provided the pickups are right.
It's amazing the clarity of these things but after shopping them for so long it suddenly occurred to me - I DON'T LIKE that much clarity. I like chords to sound like chords and somehow they've managed to make it sound like each individual string playing on its own, together. It's a VERY cool sound but I'm not seeking it.

Well thats just how our former colleague who made this video preferred it, kind of dry and lower gain to retain maximum clarity. It's all about how you dial in the amp and EQ. You can absolutely get the type of thicker/juicier sounds you prefer with these pickups also if you dialed things in differently. You're not locked into this sound :)
@@AxePalace Sure, but I've heard a bunch of demos of these things and that still comes through regardless. Just makes sense to buy different p/us
