    These are two of Schecter's top production models so a comparison seemed fitting! Both these guitars have a swamp ash body with a flame maple top and an ebony fretboard. The SLS Elite features a maple/walnut/padauk neck while the Banshee Mach 7 features a roasted maple/purple heart neck.
    The Fishman Fluence Moderns and the Lundgren M7s are among the best metal pickups out there. The SLS Elite has the ceramic Modern in the bridge and the alnico Modern in the neck. I wanted to demonstrate how versatile both the Fishman and Lundgren pickups are. They are both high output and equally articulate! However, I would describe the Fishmans as being tighter, while the Lundgrens are more open and full.
    The rhythm guitars were double tracked and panned left and right. There was no post EQ, compression, etc on any of the guitars.

      Which neck is thinner of the two? Or do they have the same neck? I’m considering getting the Mach 7 with an Evertune and I had an ESP EII MII HT 7 and the neck was a bit too thick compared to my Jackson 7 string, and I love the neck on it.

    The sls elite is still top for me.
    I kept thinking if I could have the banshee for recordings and SLS for pretty much anything else life would be a dream.
    But if I absolutely had to pick one I wouldn’t be hurting at all with the elite.
    I love the warmth so much that I’d be happier tuning a track to fit the guitar instead of visa versa

      I agree. After over a year with the Banshee now, I can say I rarely ever pick it up. The SLS is still Schecter's best and probably the best metal production guitar under 2.5k 🤘

    Great review!! Been looking forward to a review like this for a long time. Both awesome guitars Schecter build's for me are second to none for the money. Here's my question to you if you could only have one of the two guitars which one would it be?

    • @AmarAlhoch
      @AmarAlhoch  3 года назад +5

      Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! Honestly, it's such a difficult decision to make. I'll grab my SLS one hour and the Banshee the next. Both are amazing. I think it comes down to the pickups mostly. For straight up shredding, I enjoy the Fishmans a little more. They're super tight and focused. But for most melodic playing, I like the fullness of the Lundgrens and the way they respond. I also like the neck of the Banshee a bit more. It's the perfect neck for my hand, seriously! But the 7 piece neck on the SLS is more stable. If you are asking me today, I would probably pick the Banshee. But ask me tomorrow, and I might say the SLS. I hope that was somewhat helpful!

    A nice video again no doubt. There is something I really wonder about these fishman pickups. Do you really feel like playing with a sensitive, responsive passive pickup? I mean are these pickups sensitive to picking position, angle and can you get cleaner tone when you turn down the volume like passive pickups??
    You entered my radar on youtube. I sub you and clicked the Bell. Keep rockin!

    • @AmarAlhoch
      @AmarAlhoch  3 года назад +1

      Thank you! I appreciate that! I have a video on my Instagram from November if you want to scroll through that which demonstrates a lower gain tone. Going from voice 1 to voice 2 and then rolling down the volume a bit. But to say a few words here, yes I find that it is quite responsive but different. It's not going to be like a passive because it's not a passive but from an active perspective, it does respond differently to all the things you mentioned. If you want an open sound, you'll need to go passive. If you are looking for a tighter more focused sound, then active is the way to go.

  • @ThorsShadow

    Amazing playing and nice comparison!
    In terms of output and compression, which of these two pickups would you say has more? Reason I'm asking is that I've lost quite a bit of finger strength over the years, but I play legato a lot. So I'd like a pickup with rather high output and/or compression, so that I don't have to hit the frets as hard in order for the pickup to register a note.
    For reference, I am currently using a Seymour Duncan Nazgul in my Ibanez 8 string currently. It is fine, but I feel like it's lacking something (maybe the compression of an active pickup like the Fishman or the high output of the Lundgren).

    • @AmarAlhoch
      @AmarAlhoch  2 года назад

      Thank you! Both pickups are extremely high output and they'll pick up everything. But I'll have to say the Fishmans. I absolutely never use a compressor with these pickups. 👌🤘

    Man that's some nice playing :-) Exactly the kind of stuff I like to write & play (but not as well as you!). I was seriously considering a C7 SLS Elite recently, I had tried to order a KM-7 III Artist after hearing it was discontinued and found a retailer with some supposdely left in stock but had my order cancelled after that was wrong. So I started thinking about the SLS but would have missed the coil split. I suppose that's not too difficult to wire up with the Fishmans though, for whatever reason Schecter choose to use both push/pulls for voice switching which I suppose is better than ESP that only do a single voice change that affects both pickups. Anyways I was able to find a KM-7 from another retailer, must have gotten one of the last few available and I'm very happy with it, the Fishmans in it are incredible, sounds like you are already playing in a full mix.
    Would love to hear a bit about how you can play so fast and clean. Are you using hybrid picking at all, hard to tell but it looks like you may be plucking you strings with your ring/pinky fingers in addition to picking normally. But that could just be the way your hands move when you play fast. Also do you know what kind of rhythms your using in the shred leads around 2:47 ? I've only been playing a couple years so still trying to learn more advanced stuff like this. I've seen that one common pattern used for this is doing a group of 3 then repeating it before moving to the next position i.e. 5 7 8 5 7 8 then onto the next part. Would be interesting to know if you have certain patterns already planned/learned for a lead like this or if you've just built up so much playing like that in your muscle memory it just flows without having to think about it.

      @@AmarAlhoch I am but a mere casual hobbyist but I love to chug and pretend like I can shred. I have owned 7 guitars in my life and the M7 pickups are my favorite. I really wanted an 8 string sound but my hands are tiny, like the size of a petite woman, so I got the 26.5 scale and just tuned it like an 8 without the high E. Damn guitar is still a stretch for me so I am thinking of buying a 24.75 scale 6 string, tuning it to drop Bb , and using a digitech drop to expand the range. Hi there! I didn't see this comment before. Sorry for the delay. Both are great guitars! My SLS is actually a Floyd model. I always go Floyd when I can because I'm primarily a lead player. @@AmarAlhoch and @shaynestilllife , I'm deciding between the two guitars currently, and I don't find the sound difference to be a deal breaker for me either way-they both sound so good, and each with their own flavor. I am curious, however, in terms of their overall build quality, hardware, and difference in the neck wood. Which do you think is a better guitar overall? The banshee seems to sell for a couple hundred dollars more (particularly the ever tune model)-is that worth it? Would you get it over the sls elite and why?

      How thick is the neck on the Mach 7? I’ve heard they are thin but I had an ESP EII MII ht7 but the neck was a bit too thick for my liking.

      @@AmarAlhoch It's phenomenal !! Between the Lundgrens clarity and the sparkling finesse of the stainless steel frets it's absolutely a joy to play. Sounds great out of the Rockerverb 100 for sure.

    Man I want to love that Banshee so much but I just don't think I'm going to pull the trigger on it the tone of this sustained pickup and I think the Lundgren pickups sound weird.
    I think it's great for a meshugga type tone but that's not what I and looking for.
    I miss the good old days when everything came with emg 81 in the bridge LOL I wish Schecter would make a seven string 26.5 inch scale with stainless steel frets neck through Construction with no neck pickup an EMG 81 in the bridge and a simple volume knob with a Floyd Rose 1000 and an ebony fretboard

    • @AmarAlhoch

      I'm loving the tones from the Lundgrens but like with everything, they're not for everyone. Maybe they'll make the Banshee GT series in a 7. Those come loaded with EMGs. 🤘

    Do I NEED another guitar..?
    (Define “need.” LOL But as I already have close to forty, probably not. But clearly that has never stopped me.)
    At this point it will probably come down to the other hardware & finish option.
