I love that the Chinese auto manufacturers aren't afraid to experiment with wild concepts, materials, designs, and features. Unlike American brands that just attempt to make the most generic, bland, non-polarizing design possible, so they can hopefully sell a billion of them.

@Ian Ho Some inventions that originated from China include paper, printing, gunpowder, alcohol, porcelain, seismograph, compass, acupuncture, and tea. I would say these have been "copied", "redesigned", and repackaged by all different vendors from many countries for use and consumption by billions throughout the world.

If they want to, they could probably program in track specific suspension settings to that DiSusX system, and really shave lap times because the suspension could be tuned to different settings on a corner by corner level so ride height and stiffness can be optimized at EACH wheel on every inch of the track. Maybe they make a play for the Nurburgring record with this thing. Imagine the car hunkering down to its lowest setting on the long straight, but raising up a bit with softer settings so it can handle the Karussell curves at full tilt too!
I want to put my order in now if they sell it in north America. However, it may be banned by the US government due to national security concerns.
U9 may be eye-catching, but U8 is really high tech. BYD already has 30,000 pre-orders for U8 in 3 days after show began.

A little correction: mecanum wheels are not required for Yangwang U9 to do a tank turn. They have already demonstrated that using normal wheels. Mecanum wheels are only used for driving sideways.

The YW series U9 racing car definitely interesting to me! When we talked about racing car, it usually the region of traditional petrol vehicles. But now, BYD had made the EV's based supercar became realistic! Really impressive 👍💪

Mind bugling what the Chinese are doing in the EV arena. Me thinks they will dominate the field within a few years
Here are BYD sales in the last few years: 2020 - 400k, 2021 - 750k, 2022 - 1.8 million, and they are publicly still aiming for at least 3 million sales in 2023. Absolutely insane.
They already are but most in US is oblivious. They already are selling to Europe and Australia. It’s all about battery tech and china dominates it. CATL will have a solid state battery in production later this year that will pack twice as much energy in the same weight. It would be revolutionary.

What is amazing is that you have hardly heard of the name of these car manufacturers They are already producing a super world-class car with the most advanced technology, I also read one of the comments about some kind of pre-order and payment model, he will have to wait a long time :) believe me, don't wait, the Chinese will have enough to produce for everyone and bring it to your home, Kudos to the Chinese, keep surprising us.

What I am most impressed about is the Chinese supercar costing over US$200K.Have we just witnessed the beginning of the end for Ferrari and lamborghini because both of them haven't even got started yet on going electric whereas this Chinese supercar is available to buy in October this year! 😅
I know Lamborghini is working on batteries for long range but they have to move fast, in China there are at least 30 companies making electric cars now

So many cool cars at the show, China would sell million worldwide if they could build them fast enough and if have enough left of them after meeting domestic demands first.
@KW WU I have never seen a Chinese car in USA. as you would need to have 50'000 cars and not knowing what to do with them to take on the hassle of start selling them in USA, so apparently, they don't have 50K cars unsold.
Mainly dealing with technology products, doing business with the United States poses a significant psychological barrier because of the uncertainty of potential bans that could happen at any moment. This instability is a major concern for both producers and distributors.
The US has no infrastructure for charging EV cars. Even its existing infrastructure for fossil fuel cars are crumbling due to under investment. The US will be lagging behind on EVs for a while.

Electric cars are just easier to make than ICE. But in reality it’s battery tech. BYD made all the iPhone batteries at some point in the past. CATL was purchased with support by Xi in 2015 to develop battery tech. They have 10k material scientists working there now. New solid state battery coming this year with half of the weight for the same amount of energy. Think double ur current range and making Electric planes possible.

@@fubolibs4218 Electric cars are just easier to make if they have cheap tech - basically oversized golf car. If the car have traction control that tune the power to each wheel 1000 times a minute, the tech is insane. (of course most don't have, or is much lower tech)

Despite all the China haters comments here, the Chinese EV market is really in fierce competition right now, meaning many of those companies and their designs we are seeing right now, won’t survive in the Chinese market, so they will push out to the foreign markets. When you are seeing them in your country, better just stick with the BYD, NIO and GWM.

These Chinese designers and engineers are working wonders. I just think the "China" brand needs to be redeemed and these cars can easily oust existing luxury brands like Mercedes or BMW.
China uses a lot of foreign talents and to be fair, what you see, may not be just Chinese designers and engineers.

The first car is literally made by the same manufacturer that supplies the PLA's light armored vehicles
Oh damn, I looked it up and Dongfeng also called the military vehicle the "Mengshi" and the earlier ones were imported Humvees! Another interesting fact is that Norinco, which actually makes most of the PLA's armored vehicles, including the tanks, used to also own a small unsuccessful passenger car division called Qinchuan, which was sold to BYD, and over 20 years, BYD managed to grow it into the behemoth EV maker it is today.

I strongly dislike that endless stream of boring 4 door sedans and SUV's that comes from the USA and EU. Even and Korea seems to be lagging behind.
Those EV's all starting to look the same, like being designed by the same boring designer. And Japan EV's . . . . that is a past story. To late to recover.

Well the little city cars they make (Wuling Mini, Geely Panda, and the new hot BYD Seagull) are about as simple as you can get in a car.
For China, these cars are already considered simplistic. This is because the supporting industries in China make it easy for automotive companies to design and source everything they need
You're right. In China, I have a gasoline powered car and a two wheeled electric motorcycle. Living in the city, small electric motorcycles can meet 90% of travel needs, and the monthly electricity bill is only about ten dollars.
