im a red seal electrician i bought my truck new in 2009 ive been looking at the new equivilent gmc 2500 and the payments are higher then my mortgage no way i can afford that. so now im looking at putting 15 grand into my current truck and buying a new jaguar suv which will still come in less than a new 1500 gmc.

It fits their image of being rugged, macho, tough, etc. Plus, they feel in command as they look down on others around them in "lesser' vehicles. Their whole life is based on monthly payments and the truck is just one more payment on the list. They only stop spending when their finances go negative on them, and then they'll cut back for a few months until the next new shiny thing pops up that "must" be bought.
