The gap is there for good reason, the car comes with reclining seats, theres afew videos on the internet where one of the seats is reclined and the other isn’t. The seats were not reclined when Doug was walking around the car. Reclining the seats may also help allows a touch more headroom.
Reclining rear seats is a feature that’s easy to forget but a good one to have nonetheless.

    • @wattouk

Excellent review & car. Disappointed that remains FWD and probably prone to torque steer especially in the wet. Will salivate over a potential GT or “N” spec AWD version in the future. Ioniq 5N is nice but just too big. This is perfectly sized for a hot EV. Only other disappointment is the slowish charge speeds. Other 400v cars now do 150-170kW, (and Tesla 240+ kW with 400v!), so no excuse really but the charge curve is more relevant than charge speed, so let’s see.

I’m very interested in this if it comes out as an AWD with at least 300 hp. I’m after a hot hatch and this could be it. The Volvo EX 30 has gone minimalist and that’s a deal breaker for me. I just see cost cutting. Other than the dysfunctional location of the climate controls this seems like a very sensible mixture of style and functional design. This is a bit small, but if I’m getting more range while maintaining good horsepower, I’d be willing to sacrifice the space. I actually like driving a smaller car. All that said I’d probably prefer the EV 5 but Kia isn’t bringing that to the US any time soon.

Really like the idea of being able to use a laptop whilst driving, it saves so much time as you can work whilst driving, particularly on motorways, which are boring, and especially useful to watch videos or play games in traffic. The crashes and lives lost from distracted drivers is definately worth it. KIA are onto something here. Excellent idea to have dashboard screens that are unable to be seen without peering around the steering wheel, it helps concentration and being able to get information quickly. Good to see hard plastics, no need for squishy dashboards as noone ever sits on it. Hope the LED headlights are really bright, so that they dazzle other drivers at night.

Still a bit confused by these leccy cars' estimated range. Is the mileage of 255 and 350 miles (depending on battery) based on a full 100 percent charge? Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I've seen and read you shouldn't charge more than 80 percent, which would give mileages nearer to 204 and 280 miles! Am I missing something here? Filled up my petrol XCeed this morning and got an estimated range of 440 miles, this includes the last 20 percent I can use if I want!! If this is the case, it's a bit misleading from electric car manufacturers.

    • @jamespaul2587
      @jamespaul2587 27 дней назад

It's not misleading at all. When you need the full range for long trips, you charge to 100%, however 80 to 90% daily is better for battery longevity. Few people actually drive over 100 miles / 150 kms daily, and many EV owners charge at home overnight.

NOTICE that the distance of the front seat "where I would be comfortable driving" is 4 inches back, from where the moderator is talking from in the back sea, WITH the front seat adjusted forward to be even to the pillar. Why be deceptive? Also, he's just not that tall. If you don't care about rear leg room, and want 300 miles this is great. Great competitor to the more expensive Volvo 30.

Kia/Hyundai achieve 90% of claimed range. VW 50%. My personal experience.

The HVAC control seems to have been designed, by someone sitting in the passenger seat.
As to the outside, it’s another IBC on wheels. When they did the wind tunnel tests, could they not find anything but a breeze block?

Just..................WHY? It's the same size and price as the Niro. And personally I think the new Niro looks beter in terms of exterior styling. Also, at 37k Euros starting price it's still not exactly a cheap car is it?

It's all fun and games when compared to the "competitors" you mentioned but in reality this is going up against the Model Y in terms of price since KIA loves to overprice their models.

Kia badge on the right side of the steering wheel instead of being in the middle would be the reason i wouldn’t buy this car - and i’m not even OCD😮😅

You have no ideas about differences between EV and traditional engine car.
This is not just about killing time when you charge EVs. You have to start the engine to do something in the traditional car with noise meanwhile an EV provides personal and private space where you can actually do your work or rest relying on a huge battery.

Long range is the one but I really don't like the wheels. Sometimes I feel like manufacturers go way to far trying to stand out with their evs. I don't need blue badging or a super futuristic interior. Just make a normal car lol

Our Soul was the best car we've ever had when we grew older with no kids just a dog we could go for years without any issues truly. Electric will NOT be good in our North of Canada for 2 reasons -no infrastructure at all and the life of today's batteries couldn't handle 20-30 below temps. Maybe in 5 years, things will get better in big cities and surrounding towns etc but the far north people wont go that way for years. Sweet looking cars tho ty Kia. I feel real sad for all the mechanics who would have spent thousands of dollars on education and tools over the past 30 years just to fix the breakdowns.

We should lobby the congress to allow the best EV cars into our market, instead of block them from coming to our market.

Kia/Hyundai keep hitting it out of the park. This absolutely craps all all over offerings from VW Group and most other European manufacturers.
There also an EV4 on the way I believe which will challenge the Model 3 segment.
All the Koreans need now is to get an EV1 or EV 2 entry level EV on the roadmap and they’ll be the best sellers in Europe - especially if Chinese brands are penalised by tariffs
