If you live in the country and tend to get power cuts, Vehicle to Load is brilliant!. During the last storm, with creative use of extension leads, had the fridge, freezer, microwave, some portable lights and the TV running off an Ioniq 5 for 3 days, fantastic.
@MGcyclist tell us all how you've never without electricity for more than a few hours without telling us you've never been without electricity for more than a few hours.
I have used V2L quite a bit since owning an Ioniq 5. My camping gear is now electric ( induction hob and fridge), used V2L in a couple of power cuts to keep the freezer and fishtank going, plus sometimes use it as a cheap energy source to heat my home office when it's just me at home (using stored overnight electric in the day), so I don't think it is a gimmick and is a must have for me now. Ev3 is now a contender for my next EV, thanks for the video.

Problem with European EVs is their warrenty is only like 2 years (on the cars, battery warrenty is much better of course). That's absolutely unacceptable for me, considering these cars are still quite a new type of technology
V2H (Vehicle to Home) and V2G (Vehicle to Grid) is very important to me and a must have. This car looks amazing, I love it and will order a test drive as soon as it's available.
You can do the same with a 12V inverter. Attach it to your car's 12V battery and turn the car on. This works particularly well with EVs since the traction battery will charge the 12V battery as necessary. Perfect for emergencies.
KIa is certainly kicking a lot of goals these days and I am looking forward to driving one when they arrive in Australia. Vehicle to load is a fantastic option and yes I would use it regularly: camping, as an integrated power source through my smart meter when the the grid prices go through the roof. It should be one of the most important options for consumers, and yes, European manufacturers are laggards in that space.
I use V2L pretty much daily on my Ioniq 5. It powers loads of stuff in my house throughout the day and then I charge the car using cheap energy rates at night, I have used it to power the lawn mover and for many camping trips. It is a major consideration for my next EV that the car has to have V2L. I cannot fathom why cars like the ID Buzz do not have it - that is the perfect EV on the market for camping. VW have missed a trick there.

Your question on V2L and V2G. V2L is definitely very useful, no need to elaborate. V2G is a bit more controversial. I will say, I much prefer this to the soap because it seems like it's easier to execute unique details in this style that it is in that style.
To me, the Megane is a much closer equivalent. Almost identical length, boot capacity and interior space. But Megane is let down by the limited battery capacity. This EV3 shoots straight to the top of my bucket list for when my eNiro gets retired next year.

Be interested to see how the EV3 compares to my Peugeot e2008, which I would also consider to be a compact SUV rival, although you didn't mention it. I'll be checking the EV3 out when it's available - when will it be available?
Are you sure "the Megane can match it" in terms of interior space? You have so much leg room there in the back, while Megane is known to be almost impossible to sit in the back by adults. It looks like strikingly more room in the back for the Kia.
I’m not sure where KIA fits in the car brand league these days. They certainly make some superb EVs and seem to be the upcoming car brand that’s quite out there. Seeing more and more on the road. I have an EV6 and I think it’s absolutely brilliant making the swap to an electric vehicle a breeze. Couldn’t have imagined myself buying a KIA a few years ago where it would def have been and Audi or BMW for me.
V2G is the future. When EVs are commonplace we will have a giant battery distributed all around the UK. No need to reinforce power lines to carry the load, it will be generated locally. Please make a video about V2G and V2H.
Yes with the battery for V2G and definitely use of electric tools away from power sources. Have a lovely electric chain saw that with an extension lead would run off the car as well as cement mixer, chop saw etc. Great feature!
At probably less than a third of daytime electricity to charge the battery, it could easily be cheaper to run items from the car instead of the mains - even with the associated power conversion losses. Def cheaper than any fossil powered generator.
I'll be interested to see Hyundai's equivalent as they will be higher class as it was with the Kona vs the Niro, think Hyundai dictate to Kia they release first then Hyundai come out but then Genesis behind both of them with their luxury suite and of course at the price. Not the first tray, think F150 lightning was first with the laptop tray. Let's get Mike in this car for those of us that are in the 6'+ bracket mind you Jack has reviewed this on Fully Charged as well so that'll be the one for us taller folk to check out. So which EV5 or EV3 will replace the Niro is the next question for Kia.
Really admire Kia for kicking back against the germans by fitting kit as standard and for not trying to move to a subscription model for equipment already built into your car.
Charger is in the wrong place. It should be on the front. But apart from that, it looks like a good family car. With that sort of range, we can stop calling them EVs and just call them cars.
Every location has its advantages & disadvantages. Our current eNiro has the charge port at the front. Yes, it's very convenient. But have a frontal collision - even a quite gentle one - and the car can easily be totally disabled. I would be quite happy to see the port shift to the front wing.
as a Niro EV owner, i fully confirm the plastic bits on the seats and in the trunk are prone to severe marking. After not even 2 years of ownership, they are starting to look very scruffy.
Could anyone please test the boot space with a guitar (full size acoustic in a case/electric in flight-safe case) and just let me know if it can fit in the boot? I'm fed up of cars with silly proportions that mean using the back seat for such valuable items. I've seen some people use golf-clubs, but that's far too small to be a good test.
The cloth dashboard shown in this vid is only on the "air" model, is this really the GT? Bit confusing. Seems like GT Line-S is the only option if you want a 360 camera and powered seats.
EV3 GT Line with HUD and EV3 silver wheels please. The black wheels of the GT Line are just way too much black, or EV3 LR with HUD and GT Line Steering wheel.
Love the looks of this will certainly be on my list along with the EX30 when I look to change later this year. Not sure when it will be available to test drive or order though?
When will it be appearing in UK showrooms? I'm not sure if we should be holding off on getting our new car until we can at least try it. Shame the cupholders are placed so inconveniently low - as bad as the Scenic

Are you sure "the Megane can match it" in terms of interior space? You have so much leg room there in the back, while Megane is known to be almost impossible to sit in the back by adults. It looks like strikingly more room in the back for the Kia.
Kia EV3 suppose to be around USD25k, but now i am not sure it will price like that anymore
It never supposed to. Kia announced early on that the EV3 will be starting at $/€33-35k
@@BBingo-v5i exactly... EV2, yes, but EV3 no.
@@zych84 How about incentive if they build it in Georgia?
I’m not sure where KIA fits in the car brand league these days. They certainly make some superb EVs and seem to be the upcoming car brand that’s quite out there. Seeing more and more on the road. I have an EV6 and I think it’s absolutely brilliant making the swap to an electric vehicle a breeze. Couldn’t have imagined myself buying a KIA a few years ago where it would def have been and Audi or BMW for me.
Can you use the remote outside the vehicle to move it out of tight spaces like the new Nero ?
So sleek and dynamic
Looks different I suppose.
Just don’t need another SUV. Can’t we have some normal cars from Kia?
SUV is the new normal, especially for a world car built and offered in so many regions.
If you read the size details, you might regard it a bigger muscle hatchback.
V2L and V2G will definitivly be used! I will plug it in as a power source to my off-grid cabin instead of using the generator :D
At probably less than a third of daytime electricity to charge the battery, it could easily be cheaper to run items from the car instead of the mains - even with the associated power conversion losses. Def cheaper than any fossil powered generator.
Great she’s back…..👍
Is this replacing the Niro EV? Or will they co-exist?
I'm excited to see this in person, even thought the table/tray is useless for me.
Really admire Kia for kicking back against the germans by fitting kit as standard and for not trying to move to a subscription model for equipment already built into your car.
Looks amazing, and another great video 😊😊❤❤
Any mention of towing?
Yes both models tow.
Charger is in the wrong place. It should be on the front. But apart from that, it looks like a good family car. With that sort of range, we can stop calling them EVs and just call them cars.
Charger point should be at the rear. Prevent people from reversing out of a parking space. ‘Make your first move a safe one’.
Every location has its advantages & disadvantages. Our current eNiro has the charge port at the front. Yes, it's very convenient. But have a frontal collision - even a quite gentle one - and the car can easily be totally disabled. I would be quite happy to see the port shift to the front wing.
@@SuperPandalf Rear wing. Reverse in, driving out forwards is always better.
My son in law has a emote garage with no power, very handy being able to use V2L for power tools when needed. Not every tool comes with a battery.
It's basically the new Niro. Love it.
I already love it. Need to sell my Qashqai soon🤩
Does it have a heat pump?
That's the first EV I'd be interested in. I like it
Can you actually plug the kettle in inside the car though?
how is the different levels of regeneration NEW TECH. i have 3 levels to choose from in my Honda E
as a Niro EV owner, i fully confirm the plastic bits on the seats and in the trunk are prone to severe marking. After not even 2 years of ownership, they are starting to look very scruffy.
Some "Armor All" or "Son of a Gun" plastic protectant should remove all those marks and restore the plastic to a like new look.
I have owned a Niro EV for nearly 2 years and not a mark. Not sure what you’re doing.
nothing absurd. it only takes a small luggage hit the back seats to leave a permanent mark. got dozens of those by now.
The V2H fetcher has put the KIA EV3 on my list of EV to reviews for my next EV.
This will sell by the ship load to london Uber drivers. How will the NMC chemistry stand up over time compated to LFP?
Could anyone please test the boot space with a guitar (full size acoustic in a case/electric in flight-safe case) and just let me know if it can fit in the boot? I'm fed up of cars with silly proportions that mean using the back seat for such valuable items. I've seen some people use golf-clubs, but that's far too small to be a good test.
V2L and V2G should be implemented much more. Far better then installing batteries in the house. EV3 will be my next car
It doesn't have V2G.
The cloth dashboard shown in this vid is only on the "air" model, is this really the GT? Bit confusing. Seems like GT Line-S is the only option if you want a 360 camera and powered seats.
Just needs your trademark "cupholder test" Ginny 😊
Very impressed with your choice of football team Ginny👍
EV3 GT Line with HUD and EV3 silver wheels please. The black wheels of the GT Line are just way too much black, or EV3 LR with HUD and GT Line Steering wheel.
Looks great but dont like white seats and why no AWD version
When's it coming to the UK Ginny?
Looks like a Kia Soul. Which is a good car most of the time
Love the looks of this will certainly be on my list along with the EX30 when I look to change later this year.
Not sure when it will be available to test drive or order though?
I've been in an EX30 and it is hopeless for rear legroom and foot room. Even the shorter Mini Aceman seems to have it beat.
When will it be appearing in UK showrooms? I'm not sure if we should be holding off on getting our new car until we can at least try it. Shame the cupholders are placed so inconveniently low - as bad as the Scenic
