BYD cars are crap, just like other Chinese cars. Watch car repair videos from Russia and Ukraine with BYD cars to see it for yourselves. They are cheaply made, with corners cut everywhere to save on manufacturing. I would never buy a Chinese car - I value my money and my life!
Hello my Nissan Rogue sunroof is leaking and I found out Nissan put a filter in the drains, but charge $500 to clean it. But on RUclips you can do it yourself. Can you please do a video on the Nissan
@@jamesoxendine1111Nissan shenanigans 🤦♂️🤦♂️. They tried to charge me $450/strut (part only). I ordered from the supplier for $120 each.
❤pp
I just want the old Ranger, S10, Toyota and Nissan 2dr, 4cyl 5sp with a/c, radio, bench seat and crank windows for $19,999 back. 🤠
Agree. I have Nissan frontier 2009, 2.5,5 speed manual, 2wd,basic truck. Love it. I think I'll keep it till wheels turning..
I have an Isuzu Pup. Great little truck. 4x4. AC crank windows. 5 spd
The manufacturers claim that they will not make any money off of it. Seems like they should but 🤷♂️
I had a 94 Nissan hardbody truck with a 4 banger and it was one of the best vehicles I have ever owned by far. I was excited to hear about the IMV O Toyota truck, base price is 10k. This truck is based on the old landcruiser platform and well proven. I was going to order one but quickly found out it won't be available here.
New rangers and S10 will be 4 cyl turbo looking at this market so no, I don’t want them😅
The old ones are still really good (when well treated of course)
All I want is a no thrills, wind up windows plain Pickup Truck that I can afford.
I like wind up windows.
Rarely break down and when they do its an easy DIY fix.
I also like a basic 6 speed automatic that’s not a sealed transmission.
So many cars today have sealed transmissions making it very difficult to work on it .
They sold in mexico due to their new trade deal scotty. Mexico market is pick up trucks not muscle cars.
You are absolutely correct. I think these are also in NZ.
Yep. Mexico sells utility vehicles primarily. They sold VW Bugs years after they disappeared in US/Can. Two door bench seat pickups with crank windows and 5 sp too.
They don't care about Mexican's buying the truck, they just need Mexico for their factory so they eventually sell into the US.
Yea his remarks on Mexico and lack of market and money are really uninformed to but still love Scotty
In the last three years, 21 brands belonging to 11 car manufacturers groups arrived, with a very aggressive market strategy, distributors and guarantees, some of them will set up factories to send vehicles to North and South America, it is a matter of time before they enter the USA. BYD has several vehicles with awards in Europe. By the way, the Mexican market is not as big as the USA, but more than 59 Camaros are sold, and there is currently a great offer in models and brands.
I have a 99' Tacoma, over 364,000 on bottom end, total rebuild on top end, 4 speed/overdrive, 2WD, crank windows, 6' bed, decent paint, and...no over priced vehicle paymment! 'I'm a Happy. Camper..
Protect at all costs. I HAD a 99 TRD 4x4 with same bed, 3400 v6 ext cab., I supercharged it at 74,000 miles. At 264,000 miles, a lady in a Tesla decided to t bone me from a dead stop and total my truck. Take care and be safe!
Greatwall did the same thing in Australia when they dumped their Pick ups there for testing, and as can be expected they had some serious issues. The worse thing was ,no one knew the codes to the Engine management system ,and China would not tell them . The front brakes on ALL of them ( Discs and Pads ) had to be replaced with Australian made after market parts . after only !0 to 15 thousand kilometres ,less than 10,000 miles !
MY FRIEND HAS A CHINESE BUILT VAN, THAT THING STARTED CORRODING RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DOOR PANEL! U-JOINTS WORN OUT AFTER ABOUT 20K KM, FUEL LINES STARTED LEAKING FROM ALL OVER, IT RUNS BUT YOU HAVE TO FIX SOMETHING EVERY OTHER DAY.
Bought a CV Shaft that was allegedly brand new. Splines were not cut properly, would not insert into trans.
Returned it and showed store manager.
Settled on a rebuilt unit cost $20 more. I bought the rebuilt and no problems for years.
Truck drivers are amongst the most loyal vehicle buyers out there. You're going to be really hard pressed to convince any full size truck buyer to switch over to a Chinese truck, not to mention anybody that's had an F-150. You might have a chance squeaking in with a smaller truck, but Toyota has the same kind of fan base and buyer retention. BYD may make a dent....or ultimately be rebranded as BYE 😅
Doesn't Scotty know that the biggest shareholder in BYD is Warren Buffet.
So Buffet hates America. Who would have guessed???
ANTI AMERICAN
@TeddyRumble the guy profiting from it? Even the bible says the caretaker does not care for the homestead. A man is not respected in his own hometown among his own people.

Same thing here.
@luckyguy600 pretty sure it's japanese
@@fsufootball6984 The company is but the trucks are built here in the US for the US market.
I'll bet that AC problem was a problem with the radiator fan. It happened to my truck it would blow cold air when the truck was moving but when you stopped it blew hot air. This was because my radiator fan wasn't kicking on to cool the ac fluid down when the truck was at rest. My truck would also over heat when it was idling. I fixed that bad wiring to the radiator fan and that fixed both of my problems. AC worked all the time moving or not and it did not over heat when idling.
I have 2023 Seat Ateca with one of those SAIC 1.5L turbo petrol engines. It's very nippy for the size of the car, 0-60 under 10 seconds but the fuel efficiency is amazing, when there is low demand on the throttle it only injects fuel to 2 cylinders and completely free wheels when no throttle demand in eco mode....I get 50 mpg city/ highway combined
Always good advice.
Every auto I have driven here in Australia will not start if the vehicle is in Drive.
Great video
Love this channel and his pure honesty
I have seen recent models of BYD first hand and the fit and finish is much better than I expected.
They are not cheap! They also make a Jeep Wrangler knock off.
Yeh.. but better quality.
@harveyhankerson8359 are you sure?
Nahhh @@harveyhankerson8359
@@mrbig7718 …there is another Chinese company here in Mexico…BAIC. They have the Jeep lookalike.
Max speed limit in MX is 55 mph. They put huge speed bumps in the middle of the expressway.
BYD quality and safety is abysmal. Check out The China Show with Sepentza and Laowhy. Aside from spontaneous combustion, the airbags sometimes fail to deploy in crashes.
About BYD, Before going over the top about the writen specs. Test durability when it comes out. Pretty sure I saw some of their older model with the finest chinesium for control arms and suspention stuffs...
Look at what happened with Elon's Cybertruck buyers
Buy a reliable car. Don't take chances with your ride.
A sensor located beneath the brake pedal controls the movement of the gear shift.
If one is unable to shift into P, D and N, this means the sensor needs to be changed.
This is from own experience.
However the person can shift into D and N. He's probably right. The lug relay is likely stuck half out.
Hey Scottie, what is the mpg and torque on the 1.5 turbo???
I miss the the Chevy s-10 models. What happened to affordable quality?
Hey @Scooty kilmer, I've been searching around to find the solution for creep groan in the brakes. There are so many videos on youtube showcasing creep groan but nobody knows how to fix it. I bet you would know. If yes Please help.
Don't buy Chinese. They're cheap ish up front. But parts cost a fortune. I've got a ldv v80 42k on road. But got a 10k Bill for my first break down. It was just out of warranty.
Many parts of American EV cars are made in China.
@@thomaskim5008Chinese parts sold by American corporations that are mass produced and mass transported is different than a Chinese company shipping one part of a few parts to you.
@@sakispsinakis Why different? They are both made in China? Also, you cannot build an EV without Chinese parts.
😂😂😂try harder lol
Scotty you got 6.2 million subscribers now, you should be able to afford a new shirt by now lol😂
I think there's good AND bad news with that Chinese truck. The good news: the warranty paperwork comes inside a fortune cookie. The bad news: 15 minutes after driving it, you'll want to get in and drive a little more
Now that is funny.
That analogy to chinese food was good !! 🤣🤣🤣
Cybertucks are already appearing on dealer lots..looks like the waiting list has completely evaporated, lmao.
Asian vehicles sell like hot cakes in Latin America. The Toyota Hilux sells more than ANYTHING else. Any brand at all.
And many Latinos aren't especially brand oriented but more price oriented. So for those who can't afford a Toyota, nearly any other Asian brand is as good as another.
Many Americans are becoming more price oriented as profit margins for trucks grow larger and less affordable for the average buyer.
100% tariff on those - buenas suerte
It says $53grand and up for the byd shark. Thats the same price as the f150 lightning.
The reasoning is thas light and mid pickup trucks sell alot easyer in latin america (bad roads) than sports cars.
Tyson Hoogie the influencer LOL
A new Dakota and a smaller GMC that competes with the maverick would be cool. And more smallish rugged SUVs like the bronco Sport
im not going to lie i seen this the other day and was shocked
Fighting the future are you now Scotty?
A 1.5L turbo 4 cylinder engine for a midsize pickup truck? No thank you! It can probably tow a golf cart, haul 50 lbs of cow manure and last about 1-2 yrs before the engine/hybrid system/transmission blows up! Can anybody say “Disposable Pickup Truck”? 😂😂😂
Probably better off driving a high quality golf cart
The 1.5L engine is more of a generator and a booster than an actual powertrain. 80% of the load and power comes from the electric motor. BYD is mainly and electric car company and their hybrid vehicles rely more on their motors and batteries than their engines, and EVs put out a ton of torque which is good for a pickup
@@lime6862EVa also have very expensive battery replacements of 20k+ so all the gas you save will be going into that within 7-10 years if you decide to keep your car at around 90,000 to 100,000 miles
Hi Scotty! Regarding the BYD pickup truck, most of BYD's cars are electric in one way or another. The 1.5L turbo engine is more of a generator/booster than being the main powertrain in their hybrid vehicle. Something like 75% of their hybrid's power comes from the electric motor. The engine in that case is not going to be under any stress.
Once you get it in, you have a hard time getting it out. I hate when that happens.
Can you BUY the BYD in Mexico and Drive to the USA?
No it can't cross the Rio grande without shorting out😳😳😳
You can't drive back across the border . When you get to the border you can park it and walk across . By Will
My Tundra was made in Texas🤘🤘🤘
It was partially ASSEMBLED in Texas.
thats why i always start my car in Drive
I have been in Romania. I have a lots of stories I could tell.
Why 429 horsepower? 4×2=8 and not 9. The schools are teaching kitties wrong these days, then they design cars with parts falling off at people when they get too tall for their own good.
I didn't see a prosecutor, it looks like the prosecutor didn't show up either
The Mexicans only bought 59 camaros. But in the same time period they stole thousands of camaros from USA and canada.
Which are sold in Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala
@@marioerueda-almonte7938 No one in El Salvador is driving muscle cars. People with money drive nice trucks / luxury SUVs.

It’s a great looking truck! The Chinese are not afraid to style their vehicles unlike American designers. It’s the same reason why I think people buy Hyundai/Kia…Their junk but they look GREAT!
love your content scotty.. old toyotas are going up in value in ireland i mean crazy prices because the new toyota have rubbish engines 2010 down to 1970 have the best engine
Nope.
tired of the tariffs tbh. Our companies have to keep up with the times/our wallets
Who did they steal the design from?
We had BYD forklifts. Quality was worse than the American companies and had to wait forever for parts,. I dont hold much hope for this truck.
Yep. Everyone that had BYD industrial equipment complains. They were worse than the 50cc Chinese moped craze of the 00s that everyone like PepBoys was shoving into their stores as a side gig.
How can I ask Scotty a question?
Find him and ask him like a real man
If they make a decent truck for a very reasonable price they'll do ok here, but I doubt it.
Indeed the only reliable car is the one with manual transmission. Nothing else can last that long.
Agreed. I've had manuals since my 1st car in 77. Most times I had an automatic, I've regretted it.
Clutches do have to be replaced as do brake shows. A planned consumable. Longest I had a clutch last was 250000mi...1989 to 2011 on my Mazda. Working toward that record on my 2013 Ford
The e-CVT is more reliable than any automatic or manual transmission.

Uber has invented the BUS.
Do the car’s imported from China meet U.S. crash and emissions standards, as well as other mandates? (I’m not talking about Buick or Volvo, but the independent Chinese manufacturer).
Currently, China 6B emissions are structured to be the most stringent in the world (stricter than the proposed Euro 7 that has yet to go into effect), allowing their vehicles to easily pass emissions standards in any market they export to. This is a significant change from a decade ago.
The US has some unique "safety" regulations that are different than the rest of the world. Our bumper regulations are built aroung preventing potential damage to the bumper in a low speed crash. In other countries, bumper regulations are based around pedestrian impact (which we do not test for). BYD cars are currently built around international standards, and the two safest vehicles under new EURO NCAP testing are both BYD models. Outside of the US, most courtries have harmonized regulations to EURO NCAP. Many vehicles need to be modified somewhat to comply with the regulatory priority around bumper damage over pedestrian damage in the US. E.g., the Mondeo/Fusion had different bumpers structure for Europe vs the US. I am sure that BYD could easily make similar modifications, if need be.
Scotty is an influencer.
429 hp/dual hybrid?
"Dual Mode" is BYD terminology for their plug-in hybrids (being able to run on just electricity or to use the gasoline engine to extend range as a hypbrid). The engine is basically a generator. The electric only range is more than a Chevy Volt had, letting most commuting happen on electricity. But being to extend that range running on gasoline prevents frequent stops on long journeys, especially if towing.
Uber just created a less convenient Public Transit Bus
