      If it’s the 1.5 I ubered in one good car but.. during a normal autostop it didn’t turn back on so I had to get a jump it did this twice. I changed the battery 250$. Then there is a part called the brake booster pump. These sometimes fail mine did and sent some metal into the motor. I was able to pull the metal out with my pinky and didn’t worry about the super tiny pieces. If I were you I’d change both of these before they go bad and at the same time. Also you can manually shift to 6th gear and it disables the auto-stop. One more thing when the brake booster pump fails so do the brakes so it a safety issue the pump and oil seal is cheap.

      I actually like GM. Always have. They've made some mistakes. But really I have had quite a few gm cars and trucks over the years. I actually think they are pretty cutting edge tech and reliable a lot of times. But they made some junk too. They could make simply amazing vehicles. They know how. Just like they have made subcompacts to tractor trailers. Military hardware. GM can make freakn anything. It's getting them to do it that it's a pita. The company has had a attitude problem for 60 years. That is what's annoying about gm. They are probably the best actual car company in the world. But the attitude they have is chit. So they turn out..who knows. depends on how they feel I swear. If you look at everything gm has built, developed, research and development. It's quite amazing the garbage they can put out without caring. Total attitude problem

    Carmax in the USA did the same thing....not long ago and tried to reverse it after they lost many customers.....I used to own Chevy back in the day...but in the 2010's they started having quality issues...head gaskets , tranny issues and never ending production problems. This indeed is a bonanza for Chevy Fans...I will stick to my Toyota and Honda, so it's a hard pass for me.....Thanks Mark for the update!!! You are the Best Bud!!

    Yeah, any time a car gets over 40k, it makes me cringe to think about purchasing. That is just too much money for rapidly depreciating liability. Car loans are looking like mortgages now days and people that are carrying $1000 car payments got more money than sense. I will say that Chevy is doing a great thing with the Trax, they really turned that into something attractive and affordable. When my old Buick with the 3800 V6 finally does die (and it wont cause its a frickin tank) I may just get one of those. The base LT trim start like 21k in the us for a new little crossover SUV. That actually a heck of a bargain. Big question on this is that 1.2 little 3cyl turbo. I really don't like these tiny displacement turbocharged motors. its not a good mix for longevity.

  • @stephenhowell5122
    @stephenhowell5122 24 дня назад +1

    One of the big losers is the truck buyer who doesn’t want or need a full size fully loaded crew cab pickup. I don’t want a four door family sedan with a cargo bed on the back end. There are rows and rows of maxed out Silverados, Rams and Ford F-series, but in my location there was one Colorado, two Canyons and four Frontiers - every one of them loaded up crew cabs. Of course this isn’t surprising for GM as they dumped the extended cab, which also had a useable 6 foot bed, two years ago. A king cab SV Frontier, used, came on the lot and was gone the next day. A used Trail Boss that was at least somewhat affordable was gone in 2 days. Mid-size truck buyers who are looking for the basic vehicle are SOL. As much as I want and need a truck, I’m not buying anything right now.

    Reminds me that Toyota removed the Yaris from North America, the Yaris being a major best seller in Asian and Japanese markets. And the same thing that Honda did with the Fit. At the same time, the Civic and the Corolla are gradually becoming heavier and more expensive. In fact in Asia, the Corolla is now perceived like an executive car, kind of like the Camry once was, and what used to fill up the Corolla 's place as the People's Car, the combination of the Yaris-Vios---the Vios was once marketed in the US as the Yaris sedan. Lets not forget the Hilux elsewhere sells for half the price of a Tacoma here and thats with turbodiesel vs turbogas engine. Now when you go across the border to Mexico, you will see all sorts of cheap affordable GM products that you never heard of but is selling there. Like the modern Chevy S-10 pickup, which sells for a range of $19-30,000 USD. Of course its only a four cylinder, but this is a compact work truck. Why does Ford Ranger sell for half the price of the one in the rest of the world ? Same vehicle except for the US safety requirements and the turbo gas engine, while the global version has a turbodiesel, rails amd rollbars. In Brazil, theres a cute cheapie of a compact RAM pickup called the Rampage. So why in general, across the board, affordability has gone across NA with almost all brands.

      I had a 2007 Yaris, one of the rarer two doors with hatchback models, rather than the more common 4 door hatchbacks, had some nice factory rims on it.. 5 speed manual was a bonus, in a world of auto transmission econoboxes. I picked it up as a Dealer Demo at the height of the 2008 Crisis when my Van died, and i'd just taken on a Mortgage.. . Great little car on a 5 year lease, that i got to break the lease on to step up to a Tacoma once the 'cash crunch' had abated.
      In retrospect, i wish that i'd been able to keep that micro hatchback. Great little economic Mario Kart, it was - perfect for a zippy commute vehicle. Alas, not enough driveway for two vehicles.

My city just bought over 2 dozen actual pickup trucks (2 door, standard cab, long bed) and some 2 door LWB chassis cabs that are going to get utility beds. They are all white, with painted steel wheels and zero options.

  • @billywhite4190
    @billywhite4190 13 дней назад

    There's a small high used car lot at the western end of my town owned by an area GM dealer that sells new Chevrolet and Buicks. The lots features cream of the crop late model vehicles of all makes mostly purchased at at auctions. In other words almost new vehicles with low miles. From time to time I circle through their lot to see what they have. Occasionally a car or two but on a typical day there are only full size crew cab high end pickups, full size SUV's and crossovers. Again no cars and I've never seen an older more affordable sedan. Perhaps older, more affordable cars in nice condition are either in short supply or not to be found. I suppose the inventory on this particular lot is typical of inventory n most dealers lots. It's sad to there are no cars to be found. Not everyone wants or needs a truck or SUV which is more expensive than most cars. On another note, I disagree with what you define as a basic vehicle such as the smaller SUV you drew your attention. By 2024 standards this vehicle may be considered basic but in my opinion it is not basic not by the actual definition of what used to be basic. Manufacturers discontinued producing basic vehicles a long time ago. Basic means a vehicle with her limited options such as 2 wheel drive, plain wheels and tires, manual operated windows and locks and the absence of other luxury features that manufacturers automatically put on every vehicle sell. Building a vehicle with low option content would shave thousands from stickers. There are new car customers out there who would buy these vehicles but they are no longer being built because they are lower profit vehicles. Instead new car dealer lots are full of vehicles that people can't buy because every new unit on the lot is still priced too high. $30.000 is still more than many people can pay. Buyers need new vehicles that are $20.000 and maybe a little less with a monthly payment under $400.00. Even though incomes have risen since new cars were less ecpensive, the cost of living has taken the amount of money people avoid
    actually have in many instances to less than what it was in the past when things costs less. In the meantime these people stay off new car lots and only the higher income people are able to buy these new vehicles with higher sticker prices. I'm not an economic expert, not even close. This commit is bases upon what I hear from other videos and opinion bases upon my point of view. I'm a senior adult who lives on Social Security. I drive a very nice 2010 Toyota Corolla with 132,000, which serves my needs and the needs of many other low income drivers very well. There is a market for these types of cars. It's too bad that Ford and GM can't see ths.

    Fact is that GM/Ford/Chrysler have never been able to compete in the Compact or Midsize market, in sales volume, safety and reliability. Toyota and Honda crown that space. Malibu is gone because it's factory is making room for the EV equivalent that will be just as cheap over time. If you want a $25-$30K, there are plenty of options. The Toyota Corolla, Corolla Cross, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Honda Civic, Toyota Prius, Mazda3, Mazda CX-30, Honda HR-V, all under $30K average transaction price. Compact SUVs all go for $30-$35K average transaction price. Toyota/Subaru/Mazda/Honda are all breaking production records for several models. It's not unfortunate, it's reality. Toyota/Honda just provide superior products in the lower to mid end of the market. Ford/GM are also not the most reliable brands, which is why they don't sell vehicles in several countries that have customers who actually look into reliability history. The best selling non truck, is the Toyota Rav4, which is coming up on 500K units per year, almost ending up as the second best selling vehicle of any kind in the US, behind the F150. Rav4 has average transaction price of $34-$35K.

      Those foreign vehicles are just junk too, keep supporting over seas, yess there some of them made here but still supporting them, what I can't stand is you see someone serve in the military and then go buy foreign vehicles, i try to buy things only made in America, yess you pay for it but the quality is 10 times better.

    The blazer you can still get with a 6 cylinder. They should keep the sedans. Even if they sell less or make less.

    What was seen during the 1930s (the Great Depression) was that U.S. automakers survived by pushing their most expensive models.
