Seeing the comments being like “you sold out” is really funny cause you can tell its from a kid who doesn’t understand that folks need to pay for living expenses.

As a teenager, I can tell other kids are being influenced to behave like this. The amount of times I've seen my friend whine and complain about literally ANYTHING and not lift a single finger to fix that problem is absolutely insane. If I become one of the complainers, PLEASE bake me into a fine banana bread.

I mean you are a teen. What much can y’all do to make change in the world when you’re still stuck in school half of the day? Teens always complain, and though these teens are being mean about it, there will always be edgy teens. Have empathy for your friends and other teens in this sense, being a teenager is so restrictive and you don’t realize until those years are gone.

I'm pretty certain Gen Alpha still doesn't realize that if they engage with something they hate via commenting, more and more it will appear in their feed.
Which i wish was a thing that happened on my TT feed (since i watch OW, MC, DarkViper, and Now recently Marvel Rivals) but i keep getting reuploads of stolen content with brain distractions and show reuploads with a person who is too quiet and points up from time to time.

Kids have (generally) never had great critical thinking nor much patience, and the older generations complaining about "kids these days" is a phenomena as old as recorded human history.
So on the one side, I feel it's just the same pattern repeating itself. On the other... seeing my nephew mainly watching cheap vertical RUclips Minecraft videos and misc. clickbait for kids does make me worry. Is this the content they'll feel nostalgic about and look fondly back on when they're adults?

    • @whitetheknight1168

Kids will always *start* dumb. But the issue is they are supposed to go through the process of developing by reading challenging things and being forced to write and understand. It's pretty basic. In the same way you can't grow muscle by sitting in a chair unmoving, you can't grow critical thinking by having every bit of info and entertainment spoonfed to you.

Kids are generally not very great with critical thinking or impulse control, but being essentially raised by the internet during the time when companies are banking off attention spans has really worsened it.
Parents just kind of....plop their kids in front of a screen, hoping it will do their job for them. This happens for a myriad of reasons, some that are sadly understandable like both parents working full time, but the outcome is usually not great. Doesn't excuse the kids actions, only explains it.

  • @endarkculi
    @endarkculi Месяц назад +23

Ah, the entitlement of people that never have to deal with the consequences of their actions, because reporting every single threat they send you is like trying to put out an inferno by spitting at it. And it's not just the younger generation; there's plenty of adults out there too that are so used to making demands that they've stopped caring about the people they're demanding from! Oh, to yearn for the days of basic etiquette and decency...

As someone who did a short amount of work as a teacher's assistant, I can say that this generation of kids are at the lowest of the lows. It's not entirely their fault though, the educational system here in the UK and I presume the US as well is under funded, staff are under paid, and the expectations of students have been lowered to the bare minimum. I also blame the internet profiting companies for slowly making kid friendly online spaces with proper moderation and some educational value a thing of the past. Kids' minds have been rotted by platforms that they have to share with grown ups who don't have their best interests, leading to them learning behaviours they don't have the nuance to understand or put them in danger of predators. It's incredibly grim.

    • @BelBelle468

Ppl have also blamed COVID and the fact that teachers aren’t allowed to reprimand kids anymore, or fail them. It’s insane. But I guess that’s what happens when you’ve got bad parents who raised their kids on the internet and that’s it.

Something I noticed is when I got haters on this level, they can't handle an argument without the rationalwiki to through terms around.
I had one try to argue that gun ownership isn't magic and you need to put in time to learn proper safety and maintenance, the person just kept calling me a furry, demand I quit, to "shut up" and when I knew the point was never going to sink in I started using basic clean Yo mama jokes.
How can someone NOT think of a comeback to "yo mama so ugly Captain Picard saw her naked and he started screaming there was five lights" other than saying, "furry"?

  • @Tyneras
    @Tyneras Месяц назад +20

Speaking very broadly, Millennials grew up when technology was very user-unfriendly, you often spent as much time making it work as using it. Gen-Z grew up with refined technology, it just worked and often the working parts were locked away from the user, making it a learning-proof black box. Combine that with mature social media and Gen-Z grew up in the perfect anti-learning environment.

The social lives of those younger kids to literal toddlers have been pushed from real life and even their parents to primarily the internet these 5 years or so. They haven't been taught how to act and react toward people and things in their life either by their parents or the outside world as much to the point where they get so comfortable to say things like these to other real people. It's really frustrating how neglected these kids are "raised" with the mindset of how they don't have to take responsibility to most of the things they do which they understand will go unnoticed.

It is rather pathetic that some people are so daft that instead of just finding the very simple and easy and right in front of their face solution, they go about being a prat instead, which only causes them to get hit by more content of the same sort because that’s how algorithms work.
And as others have said, the concept of a “sellout” or corporate shill is, in reality, a term that only applies in the case of rich people; if a rich famous person is doing some corporate ad, they have money, but now they’re just also being a sellout for some corporation to use their likeness to sell more product, whereas sponsorships and ad revenue are among the few things keeping afloat those of a humbler sort.
Surprise surprise, those of us who do not have life served to us on a golden platter have to work for our money.

this is the main reason i refuse to touch tiktok. most kids and teens on there are so needlessly rude and toxic to other people for no reason, it's actually so shocking to me how easily they'll switch from acting normally to telling someone to game end themselves and complaining about things instead of like... doing something about it or just ignoring it. and like. complaining is fun sometimes, sure, but not when it's not benefitting anyone and is actively harming other people in the process. telling someone to hurt themselves is NOT how you solve a problem and definitely not how you treat other people.
(also the conversation around people on tiktok not solving the problem of seeing an annoying ad themselves reminds me of how some people on the platform seem to miss obvious details..? like i remember a video talking about how people were asking what program an artist was using... when the artist put the name of the program on the screen. i'm someone who believes there is no such thing as a stupid question but... it's right there. it's very peculiar and interesting to me how some people don't seem to seek out answers to things that are easily locatable.)

its sad to see my generation be filled with people who REFUSE to do research. whenever i wanted something id ironically do ANYTHING but ask about it directly.
Reverse image searching, looking though comments, research on my own, reading sometimes, assets, Ect.
I am Determined to do things on my own and if anything sometimes it takes me hours before i find a solution or way around something by trial and error, but im glad that i have the skills because as a result iv gained the mentality to use information i have learned on my own to solve future issues as well. but heres the big thing. i was never a social person at all.
at a younger age my attempts at being social ended with me alienated, used or bullied, causing my future self to separate entirely from even considering friendships or people. so maybe thats why im still able to do my own research instead of using one of those disgusting ai models. (On a side note. not socializing doesn't mean i dont have issues. as a result nowdays im not the best at communication and if anything sometimes freeze up when it comes down to even just ordering a burger if i dont get an expected response, that could just be my Autism though.

Haven't seen your tiktok but sponsors are worth so much due to the consequences they have on the viewers. This is why the huge influx of bad sponsors had lead me to skip them regardless of the content for my own sake as a person. It definitely started with the parents, because even if they were people with competent critical thinking skills, they must not have been able to properly teach those skills or use them in parenting. There's so many news stories where parents blame the internet on something they could have prevented. I've also seen my own brother literally give his kids iPads from as far back as i can remember.
But it's also not just kids having unrestricted internet access, it's not being taught what to avoid, internet etiquette, etc. I basically had unrestricted internet access, but never really did all that stuff. I guess something entirely algorithm based like Tiktok doesn't help either, but eh

tf2 fans have already seen this behavior.
Most people have an incredibly short temper, and the subject of death has been toned down far too much.
But Implying that "don't recommend" actually works is complete bs. Best bet is to always just pretend to not care, and weather what bothers you. Social media loves to recommend you content, that you hate speccifically for engagement. So just don't fall for it.

to fight against boomerfication in gen y circles, i'd like to extend a sympathetic gaze to gen alpha. they're likely to be the first generation that is constantly linked to hi speed internet and constant bombardment of information. being a millineal, my coworkers joke how i'm their tech guy before going to our actual tech person, and i'd often send emails and set up printer stuff for my boomer parent. many of us were basically shepherded into having to be knowledgeable about technology, as opposed to the younger generation where websites and apps are rapidly declining. I don't envy this generation that is probably being brainwashed to be constantly online, brought into a world with an uncertain future. where the dying internet landscape has become more polarized, and picking up maladaptive ways of dealing with internet things that upset them.

Ah, two things that have been a problem since the birth of web two point oh: people being idiots online, and people telling someone to off themself. From forums to fan sites to facebook, every site that has a comments section has always had these problems. I think you're seeing more of it from Zoomers on TikTok because, well, that's where the Zoomers are, while if you were on Facebook you'd see more of it from Boomers, because that's where they are, etc. A certain percentage of people have always been idiots, and a lack of media literacy, common sense, critical thinking, and consideration of other people are all long running problems in our society in general. One of the best and worst things about the internet is that it's open to everyone, and while the majority of users may never leave a comment and will just ignore things they don't like, you'll be exposed to the ones who will leave nasty comments or be idiots far more because, well, they're the ones leaving the nasty comments.
As for asking what the game is, etc... sometimes we all miss information in obvious places just because we're having one of those days, y'know? Sometimes I find myself reading words entirely wrong because I'm tired, or not seeing a piece of information because my brain has skipped past it. The things is, kids aren't going to get skills if no one teaches them, if those teachers want to encourage critical thinking they need to teach it, and if we want a polite and respectful comment culture we have to encourage that, but there will always be someone who will be stupid, and someone who will be mean.

It's not an inability to solve their own problems, often times it's a lack of intuition from exposure. Kids these days don't know how to change the clock on a VCR, and when I was a kid, I could because someone taught me while adults in the same time didn't know how.
Now, that said, kids being hostile and taking it personally since life's handed them shit in their most comfortable and lazy settings. It's a parenting issue, and yes, a lot of you parents out there suck ass at raising your kids.

RUclips isn't a valid job. You shouldn't be relying on it for money. Ads are ruining what used to be an awesome website. By accepting a sponsorship, ANY sponsorship, you are part of the problem.
I condemn you for this, but it doesn't mean I want physical harm to come to you. Telling someone to kill themselves over this is fucked up, but also, it's just words. They can't reach through the screen and force you to do it. Both sides are being stupid here.

its the fact that you have always advocated for an indie community and all of a sudden youre doing ads on another genshin game, predatory freemium gacha extravaganza, your name is literally indie alpaca..the same company that white washed its indigenous characters with no excuse...
its off putting and gives people the wrong image after all the love you've given to your community, i get it, get that bag, get that sponsorship, but no one likes ads, that came with the cost of accepting the sponsor, ive been a long time follower even on tiktok an ive never even seen that ad of you, its the way that tiktok doesnt listen to the users that pisses people off because NEWSFLASH, their moderation team is AI and the not interested button does jack shit, you should see the amount of people who kept showing up in my FYP trying to sell me trump shirts, all i did was ask them if they were flammable and get blocked by them and hope that somehow tiktok would be like "MAYBE THIS GUY ISNT INSTESTED IN SOMETHING HE HATE COMMENTS" theres your golden goose indie... the system is as much at fault at it as the viewers..also no.. i am not advocating or defending their horrible comments good lord no.. your mental health matters and they should never get the satisfaction to say that to someone they dont like..suicide is a serious issue
Im not calling you a sell out, im not calling you a hypocrite, im not even calling you a bad person, by all means leverage yourself from all this hate and turn it into exposure.. its just.. the bigger you get the more floodgates open, thats life, were complicated individuals not black and white cookie cutter good or bad
