They were ahead of all the other bands in special effects.
Going to see a Pink Floyd concert was the ultimate event.

Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"...
I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen.
I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold.

They were the best shows I have ever seen. The
lights, the lasers, the sounds coming from 360 degrees, flying beds, exploding airplanes, flying pigs, video screens, giant disco balls. I never get tired of seeing/experiencing it with new people!

This is an AMAZING performance. I have attended 2 Pink Floyd concerts (Miami and Cincinnati) and those were the best 2 live concerts I have ever been to. They really put everything into the shows.

David Gilmour is the master of feel. he can make a guitar talk, cry and sing all at the same time. i have been a floydy for over 50 years now. i flew from Australia in 94 to see the Pulse concert. a life changing experience, i taught myself to play guitar after hearing wish you were here. it's good too see young people getting into Pink Floyd. don't stop your journey has just started😁😁😁

Back in 1978, David released a solo album that's very much worth checking out. I particularly like There's No Way Out Of Here and Raise My Rent.

Plus Short And Sweet. As for TNWOOH, RUclips the original (if you haven't already, R.A) by the group UNICORN, titled No Way Out Of Here.
Gilmour produced this song/album (they were mates of his).
After the album flopped, David was disheartened that such a great song as this went un-noticed and unheard, so HE covered it!
Methinks it's the Best Song on a really good album.

This was the last encore at Oakland, and they could not have made a better choice for last song.
I was very lucky to see it. Stood in line all night for tickets and they still sold out on me. I was lucky to find a guy who bought extra tickets and sold me 3 for $70 each. Best $210 I ever spent.

200,000 watts of power going threw 128 wireless speakers outdoors needed FAA clearance for lasers. 14 days in a row sold out and their last concert. never want to sit in front rows at their concerts. saw 5 TIMES. checkout Dave solo work. Not big production but his playing is unreal " Live at Gdansk" " Live at Pompeii" ( 70 yrs old) and the only person to play there twice since 79.

Interesting fact: At the end of this show at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, on my way to the parking lot, I passed behind the stadium and there were four trailers equipped with huge industrial generators. I spoke with a member of the staff, who told me that these generators were needed to provide enough electricity for the show, that the stadium could not meet this huge demand.

I saw this concert twice, on May 23 and 24, 1994, Montreal Olympic Stadium. My employer (Labatt Breweries of Canada) was the sponsor for the three shows in Montreal, they were offering employees discounted tickets, in addition to a draw of a few dozen tickets. I bought mine for May 23 and I won those (a pair) for May 24. Some people have asked me, "Why are you going to see this show twice?" When they finally saw the DVD of this show a few years later, they understood why I was there twice.
