High Hopes is arguably the most beautiful and emotional song Gilmour (and his wife) ever wrote. It is structured so perfectly. As you correctly noted that build up to crescendos both during the acoustic guitar parts and in the final electric guitar solo which is then masterfully scaled back down to the bell is genius. It was cool to see how it emotionally connected with you. It is really Pink Floyd's last great tune. Gilmour is one of the greatest guitar players ever, and he really knows how to create atmosphere and feeling with his playing.
I was at the PULSE concert in April 1994 at Pasadena California both nights... I have to say, that I have been to a lot of concerts during my 20's and 30's, nothing beats This.... It was spiritual, people were weeping around me...
Saw them in San Antonio during Division Bell tour. This song was my favorite of the evening. Gilmour's slide lead cut thru you like a knife. The most immersive experience of my life. Heaven on earth. Thanks for the reaction. Stay safe.
One of the finest compositions by any iteration of Floyd. Sat front row center for this tour. New Orleans Superdome 94. David Gilmour remarked his best performance of “Comfortably Numb” occurred that night. Original saxophonist Dick Parry was brilliant. Many high points in this show, including High Hopes. 🤘
@@MrsPenPal Because they considered that it was Pop music and moved away from its progressive style of the beginning, many critics worldwide endorsed this position, greetings
@@Andres-mp7jn it's been remixed they've taken the 80's sound out of it. no electronic drums Nick mason re recorded them & used some of Rick wright's live performances. many reckon it now sounds like a floyd album
Nice reaction. It’s hard for everyone to talk after hearing this song, especially the first time. NOW…..you must listen to the song “On the Turning Away”…..the live version. It also….will take your breath away. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Brilliant reaction sweetheart, but can I give you some advice. Pink Floyd is not just a band you listen to, it's a band you watch and experience. I know it's difficult not to get carried away with emotion but you really miss the whole experience if you have your eyes closed the whole time. I was at this concert and I would have been so pissed off at myself if I missed all the visuals that they spent millions creating. ✌️❤️🇬🇧
I’ve been playing in different bands for about 20 years ( lucky enough to be part of my job ) and the one thing I’ve always tried to bring to the table that I can honestly say I’ve taken from the grates like Pink Floyd and others is their music timing. I’ve worked with loads some famous some not so. And most will speed up or slow down half way through the songs and they have to sort of give each other the look and bring everything back together. But Pink Floyd are solid as rocks from start to finish even the church bell has perfect count from start to finish and it’s done by hand 😮
The last Pink Floyd production with lyrics, and the last song from the last album with lyrics ‘Division Bell’ written by David Gilmore and Polly, his future wife. My favorite Pink Floyd song, you made a great Pink Floyd introduction choice.
I had "High Hopes" for your reaction to this song, and you fulfilled those "High Hopes" perfectly. Every time I watch this performance, I am overwhelmed to see the percussionist hitting that bell, without losing the beat. I would certainly have lost the rhythm which seems, in my opinion, different from the other instruments.
Dave Gilmour is a very humble musician but he sits at the very highest echelons of rock royalty as a guitarist, singer & composer. Pink Floyd themselves are considered beyond super-group status & almost untouchable as far as longevity & critically acclaimed progressive rock output is concerned, although Canadian prog rock trio Rush, sits side by side with them for that honour I reckon. They have produced some of the most influential progressive rock ever to grace the musical world for coming on 60 years now & they are beloved here in the UK, where they are from.
ringing of the bell is the start of Parliament and the 2 parties being the division of the future . hence Roger and the band having to different ideas how the band was going. now their High Hopes that band can go on.
My joint top favourite Band. (Along with Yes). I always prefer to listen to studio recordings first, before Live versions, in general. But there are exceptions of course. Love ‘High Hopes’. 🎶❤️🎶
In case you are interested, there is a cover/tribute to this song by the band Nightwish that many consider to be even better than the original. Less dreamy, more powerful, but capturing the tone and intention very well. Go for the live version from the "End of an Era" concert. They even named one of their albums "Highest Hopes", though this is the only one with a direct relation to Pink Floyd.
You Need to check out Roger Waters preform seems like everyone that likes to listen to Pink Floyd but Roger is Pink Floyd uncredited due to lawsuit's bus check out It's Not A Drill. The concert is on RUclips also. I've seen this concert you are playing now. 1994 I believe saw them and All the solo tours from 1984 till 2022 and have one Floyd show for this year in July. Well anyways everyone that's a Floyd fan have trippy day!!!!!
Division Bell is a great album-many PF followers still pine for Waters but Gilmour asked him to,join up again and as it says in one of the songs “ they tell me to go #}+^) myself” So grow up there’s no more Dark Side or Wall
It was final cut. Gilmour didn't like the political views and Roger Waters and the way he ran the shows. Can't keep two different geniuses together in one band. They both had there own styles. There is no Floyd without Waters there is no side side
Hi. Hi. I didn't like the high hopes so much. So, I turned the volume down and, played my sounds of nature CD. And, watched you enjoy the song. Xiao for now
RAP killed intelligent songs , go back to the 60s and 70s to hear great songs from great bands as pink floyd, procol harem, genesis, yes, the moody blues etc. nowadays kids cant put 2 words together without using swear words.
It all started in the early 90's when that gangster Rap crap came on the scene... The slow death of real music. These reaction videos are my guilty little pleasure, because it does my heart good to see this younger generation discovering what real, beautiful music exists out there, and not just the garbage television tells them to like.
Pink Floyd is a whole genre in it's own. Their music is so masterful and beautiful.
This whole concert (Pulse) is worthy of reaction videos. Pink Floyd is in a class by themselves….TRUST ME! 😉

So much beauty in here , overwhelming
In nearly 50 years on this planet, watching this show live was the closest I was to a religious experience.
Few things top this.
This song is in an album that is highly resisted by PF fans, but that I love, thanks for reacting, greetings❤
resisted? why?

SIR DAVID GILMOUR TOUCHED YOUR SOUL. NOT YOUR HEART. ONE OF THE BEST SONGS WRITTEN BY HIM. LOOKING BACK ON HIS LIFE WAS WHAT IS ABOUT REALLY.
