- Danny Wilson playing a live cover of the ABBA classic 'Knowing me, knowing you" from 1987. This was originally a b side and I first heard it when Danny Baker played it on his saturday morning radio show. I rang the studio to find out who it was and the producer called me back. Thanks for that Danny. I love this cover, it retains all the sincerity of the original.

Was recorded at London's Town & Country Club on 1st October 1989, not 1987.
Gary Clark's voice is divine.
What a wonderful rendition of a great tune
Brilliant cover...should've been a single....
wonderfull cover of wonderfull ABBA-hit
It takes a big man to take on a massive song like this, an danny nails it
lol it's Gary Clark. There's no-one in the band called Danny Wilson.
And this was several years before Erasure covered ABBA.
@@damnspynovels give im a break ... hes complimenting ... but still ... ROFLMAO
our band covered one of theirs
remember they did a song "dont know who i am " ? ... cant find it ...help me !!!
Abba songs are notoriously hard to cover that's why you hardly ever hear them. This though, is magnificent. Well done Gaz and the boys.
Yes yes!
Is this version amazing or what? The instruments. The music and I live the ending. This song blows me away!!!!!!
Ohhh is good cover,,, im always replay this song..thnks a lot
Excellent! 👏🕺
pure dead brilliant
I too heard this, for the first and only time until now, on one of Danny Baker's radio shows! I think it was 1992.
Why has it taken me so long to hear this? When I heard about it yeaterday I was sceptical but I absolutely love it! Mr Clark at his vocal best 👌
Gary’s voice is ridiculously good,
Wicked BRILLIANT !!
Abba's greatest song. In fact one of the greatest pop songs of all time. Too into punk to appreciate it at the time.
DW do a good job. Once heard Elvis Costello cover this live and his version was wonderful.
+Adam Powell It's incredible, actually, how many of the U.S. punk bands held ABBA in reverence. Elvis Costello was certainly one of them.
Not that Elvis Costello is american of course
Adam Powell - truly a man after my own heart. I completely agree with all 5 of your statements and i too once saw Costello - furiously - cover this. At Glastonbury Festival in the mid 80's.
I watched them play this at Birmingham Town Hall. Amazing.
Saw them play this live a couple of times. What a superb band they were.
me too..in Edinburgh venue, and they had Dundee scarves after playing Hibs...Five friendly aliens
Thank you for posting. What a great interpretation of the song. Great drumming and singing. Very nice. Thank you again.
A cracking rendition of a difficult song... gary really pulls the vocal off with soul... as ever,,,, nice accordian break to give it the Danny feel and some excellent bass from Ged... Thanks a million... Always interested in new Danny stuff!
Sometimes people don't understand it but I know what you mean. The fact is that Anna and Frida have a high range vocal and combined it with their special way to sing, it becomes impossible for the other singers to reach so high tones and this makes the difference.
Gary Clark is simply one of the best singers around... try and catch his cover of the Blue Nile's Saturday Night. He's also a cracking songwriter :o)
This is a great cover. Love his original music allot so this was a surprise. Love the accordian in this😊
Superb cover. 💙 T.E.N.
If you think it was only Erasure that could cover ABBA that well...then you haven't heard this cover!. This band were another favourite of mine growing up, "Mary's Prayer" is a Scottish classic.
i heard marshall crenshaw do this song to, great version d.w., a lot of hurt in the lyrics, love is a many splintered thing. who knows, they may have got back together again down the road, and its never gonna be the same, l0l.
This is absolutely the best cover I have I ever heard of this beautiful song. And I saw elvis Costello sing this live
Just heard this cover on an episode of Taggart, first time I've heard it! Love it.
Brilliant band🏴😎
THE best cover ever , in my opinion, and played live ! Even better than the brilliant original. The first and only time I heard it on the radio was , I believe , late eighties early nineties , at a Radio One ABBA weekend . I might be wrong , but this song has lived with me since then
Brilliant cover also their album 'Meet Danny Wilson' is a top quality piece of work too
The accordeon fits so good!!!
@malcybabes It was on the cd single of I can't wait but was also on the double cd package of Sweet Danny Wilson greatest hits cd
nice rendition - there's a David Bowie tinge about it
Or Bryan Ferry
As I said, sometimes people don't understand it.
this was way before it was cool to like abba although it always has been
Can anyone tell me where and when this was recorded?
as a wee daft punk rocker i hated abba, then i heard this. epiphany or wit?
Why did you hate Abba? Even Johnny Rottern liked Abba. EVERYONE likes Abba. Don't be kidding yourself. ;-)
i now love abba as a result of danny wilson making me hear they where great songwriters. as a young punk rocker i had blinkers on to most pop music so dismissed bands like abba out of hand. i now have quite eclectic tastes :-)
Even Lydon appreciated Abba. ;-)
Even Metallica plays ABBA in their foreign country concerts. 💙 T.E.N.
Abba have no peers...It also took me a long time to accept that too
Better than the original.
Cringe. They've murdered that.
