One of the most impressive videos I’ve seen on RUclips. Thank you. I played this song as a radio DJ in 1978 and this song, along with “Name of the Game” made me a lifelong ABBA fan. ABBA is to the 70s what The Beatles were to the 60s. Masterful songwriting combined with the highest levels of musicianship.
Me too! You may love their music but you’ve no idea how deep it runs in our bloodstream - we were there from the start, when they were ‘uncool’ and not given the massive respect they deserved. Well, we’re thoroughly vindicated now! Thank you.
From another old ABBA fan, thank you for demonstrating just how complex and technical these songs are. They were so considered light weight and throwaway in their 10 years together and its good to see younger fans have already made the same connection with this music that we made....around 45 years ago in the case of Knowing Me Knowing You. There will always be those that think ABBA were two song writters and 'hit makers' with two ok singers who wore flares and platform boots as all the tribute bands seem to do, but there are some among us who know these songs are works of art from four very talented people who just happened to be two couples for part of their journey together.
ABBA is anything but mediocre. They are legend! 😀 I've been listening to them since the 70's when I was a little kid. I've been trying to pick out their harmonies on my own since that time, too. I never knew that people thought this group was anything but some of the most talented singers that ever blessed us with their music. I'm so sad to hear that! 😢 Bjorn had (and still has) an incredible way of putting different sounds together, and IMO wasn't afraid to experiment with those sounds. For example, Chiquitita, I believe, is in a minor key, which isn't often used in rock music - or even country. And the song "I wonder," where Frida (I think?) is lamenting about whether or not she made the right career choice. And "Fernando," where two friends are reminiscing about their time serving their country in a war. I could go on and on. The variation of unique musical themes they produced, along with their harmonies, are in a class of their own. I only wish they never stopped making music all those years ago.
Super! For so long in my life i was difficult to spot the different voice layers you hear in Abba songs. But i discovered some updated tools where you can filter the voices, voice layering and the instruments. It's awesome to discover the secret of that magic Abba sound. Great explenation video, thanks for uploading. More Abba please! ;-)
Fabulous job, you are incredibly talented. Highlights the brilliant complexity behind Abba’s deceptively simple pop. Always loved the high harmony in this chorus. Thanks.
This is brilliant, Vevonica. Congratulations on your sharp and analytic mind and your great voice. I'm sure Agnetha, Anni-Frid, Björn and Benny would be flattered and invite you to tea.
Thank you for this. I've always suspected it was the buried lower harmonies that were the "magic touch" giving their harmonies that soaring valkyrie sound.
yeah those are the ones that usually slip by people when listening, from the first time I ever heard this song I picked it out almost immediately, just knew that was a blend of high/low harmonies but never imagined it was a layering of this much proportion! Amazingly done!!!
I always picked up their harmonies (or tried to) when I first heard their music in the 70's (yes, I'm that old). I was really young and didn't even know what "harmonies" were. I just knew I liked the sound of their different voices and wanted to try to sing them myself. I ended up singing a combo of Soprano/Alto/Tenor during most of their songs as a result. I even "sang" the instrumental parts when there was no singing going on. Lol I still do that to this day!
Amazing deconstruction. No wonder it's so hard to sing this song and make it sound good with just two singers/voices. The recorded version had 7 singers/voices and we thought there only Agnetha and Frida (Ok, Bjorn too) singing.
The "High harmony - Variation" really makes a difference. You can clearly hear that melody line the very first time, and gives the song a beautiful color.
I love this! I have always been fascinated by the vocals in that song; to see it broken down like this and getting behind the scenes--so to speak--is like Christmas.
Extremely well-done! This must have taken you hours and hours, I really appreciate all the time you devoted to make the video :) The result is breathtaking!
And as is usually the case, this song, and your very good work, demonstrates just how talented ABBA was (and is). Their harmony structures are superb. ✌
That was absolutely fantastic I hope you do a lot more, it’s cool to see how the different parts are mixed and come out with the final product. Good learning experience, and you sound really good also.

Wow. Excellent. I don't know if it's right, but it seems like has been done this way. Like there were 4 songs in one or so. Wow. Great work. Thanks for sharing.
Maybe there are still a couple of layers (knowing the group's precise work in the studio). However, they must be really buried in the mix and almost impossible to hear. Who knows if one day we'll get some studio mixes/isolated harmonies ;)
This was absolutely incredible! I always try singing the different parts to ABBA's songs but can't usually pick them out separately like this. There's probably vocal music scores that could be purchased, but I'm just singing for the fun of it. I've been mesmerized by ABBA's harmonies since I was seven. I tried picking them out at that age - even before I knew what Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone and Bass was. Lol 😂 Do you have any more breakdowns of ABBA's harmonies like this?
Great Job to get a even better insight into this most probably greatest Song of ABBA, also showing the intense Guitar Chords following the Chorus ... Thanks for this good video
Please do more videos like this!!!!! I subscribed just seconds into the video because I've been looking more harmony videos like this. You are amazing!
Very well deconstructed, then re-constructed, and sung so beautifully. Thank you for taking the time to analyze and present the vocal magic that was the genius of Bjorn and Benny and the fabulous crystal clear voices of Anna and Frida. I enjoyed your video immensely.
Amazing video. All of ABBA songs were beautifully produced and this video analyses why this particular one sounds so good perfectly. Stunning performance by you as well!
Wonderful video! Abba´s composition has always been complex but with stunning result. The latest comment I heard was from Cher who was amazed how complexed harmonies the songs have and almost "tricky" even for a very competent singer as Cher. She was commenting the songs she sang in Mamma Mia - Here we go again; Fernando, in a press conference.
Great video. ABBA's music is a top notch production, and together with Micke B. Tretows work in the studio (with a LOT of trix) their final productions has always been something extraordinary. Cant wait to hear you deconstruct the two new songs realeased! All best from Sweden!
Well done. There's a lot of work and effort gone into this. It was really interesting to hear each part being sung. It makes me think of the hours they must have spent recording and rerecording each track. Well done, entertaining and well explained.
RUclips should have two or trhee like buttons. Everytime this video shows up on my playslit i want to like it again.

From an older ABBA fan to a newer one, I love seeing appreciation for their brilliance from a younger generation.

Amen to that true Statement!! More and more Fans, old and new are finding the pure genius in them.. Veve ABBA 👍💖
I love it how the singer mimics Abba's accent. "is never isy I know" :)
ABBA's harmonies are magical. Thank you so much for sharing this. What a wonderful video!!
I agree! I've been mesmerized by their harmonies since I was little.
0:54 Lead vocal
1:34 Low harmony
2:07 High harmony
2:45 High harmony - Variation
3:07 Counter melody
3:45 Mixing the isolated

my favorite abba song
I don't wanna sound rude, but you're one of the first to do a ABBA homemade cover that really sings well.
She's incredible!

ang galing!!!! you decoded the mysterious voices hounding/collaborating the excellent voice of ABBA.....Ray Charles technique👍👍👍👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Fabulous job, you are incredibly talented. Highlights the brilliant complexity behind Abba’s deceptively simple pop. Always loved the high harmony in this chorus. Thanks.
Bravo! More Abba please 💓
My very favourite song of Abba.
This is brilliant, Vevonica. Congratulations on your sharp and analytic mind and your great voice. I'm sure Agnetha, Anni-Frid, Björn and Benny would be flattered and invite you to tea.
Abba =greatness, they are music. We discover this 40 years later, they were the best on so many levels and agnetha and Friday wow
Glorious harmonies. The other multi-layered vocals that I love is the intro to Super Trouper...
My favourite. That has crossing harmonies. One ascending, one descending. Love it.
Absolutely spot on. The high harmony at “…breaking up is never easy…” is beautiful. ❤
Wow, that was amazing! The harmonies in the "breaking up is never easy I know" part are really hard to pick out, but you nailed it.
Thank you

Brilliant and enlightening as to the magic of ABBA. You sound amazing. Watched this many times in a row!
I’m actually surprised it’s not 2 or 3 layers more. Thanks for the demonstration! 🎉
I love this! I have always been fascinated by the vocals in that song; to see it broken down like this and getting behind the scenes--so to speak--is like Christmas.
Very interesting deconstruction of my favourite ABBA song. A lot went into making that chorus sound as great as it does. :)
Love listening your break down of this tune. One of the greatest pop songs
Extremely well-done! This must have taken you hours and hours, I really appreciate all the time you devoted to make the video :) The result is breathtaking!
Wow,,, terrific thx
Have long been fascinated by ABBA vocal arrangements, thanks for giving us some great insights, and beautifully sung!
My grandma loved ABBA and this is my favorite ABBA song brooding and dark but still poppy.
Girl, this was amazing! Please do more of this! You have an amazing voice and a sharp ear! True musicianship right here!!!!
Exelente chica!! Felicidades Dios te bendiga grandemente 🙏 amen amen!!🎉
I am surprised as I didn't realized there was a 4th part for the female vocals.
And as is usually the case, this song, and your very good work, demonstrates just how talented ABBA was (and is). Their harmony structures are superb. ✌
Very nicely done.......I really like your channel. one of the best on Y-tube. You also have a wonderful voice
So beautiful😍 Great work. Your voice is so sweet and like crystal water! Abba my love❤

Me too... and it is tough.

Fantastic insight into ABBA's harmonies. Thanks
Fantastic! We’ll done. One of ABBA’s best songs. Great to hear how the vocals are broken down.
Wow, what a voice ! I'm impressed that you can change your voice so much. So interesting to hear how the voices build up wonderful music.
Well done! So many of these are just done in Melodyne, great to hear one sung.
I am in a chain of Abba songs and you have appeared to understand how works the magic of an ABBA chorus. Now I have an endless smile, thank you
Revisited, yet, again:
_CAN'T_ STOP WATCHING!!!
Very educational, thank you. I also understand now how a choir can compensate for the individual voice shortcomings.
As a vocalist AND an ABBA fan who has tried over the years to extrapolate the vocals, I definitely appreciate this on the highest level!
This was absolutely incredible! I always try singing the different parts to ABBA's songs but can't usually pick them out separately like this. Awesome! That was remarkably beautiful.
Very well deconstructed, then re-constructed, and sung so beautifully. Thank you for taking the time to analyze and present the vocal magic that was the genius of Bjorn and Benny and the fabulous crystal clear voices of Anna and Frida. I enjoyed your video immensely.
