- George Wagner, IV is standing trial for the April 2016 murders of eight members of the Rhoden and Gilley families. Wagner IV faces 22 counts including eight counts of aggravated murder with death penalty specifications, aggravated burglary, conspiracy, tampering with evidence and forgery.
Wagner’s brother, Edward “Jake” Wagner, and his mother, Angela Wagner, have already pleaded guilty to taking part in the conspiracy to murder the eight Rhoden and Gilley family members over their desire to obtain full custody of the then two-year-old daughter Jake shared with victim Hanna May Rhoden. Angela and Jake Wagner have agreed to testify against their family members.
George “Billy” Wagner, the father of Jake and George, faces the same 22 counts.
On the morning of April 22, 2016, family members found Chris Rhoden, Sr., 40, and his cousin, Gary Rhoden, 38, dead in Chris’ mobile home on Union Hill Rd. Chris Sr.’s ex-wife, Dana Manley Rhoden, 37, and their children, Hanna May Rhoden, 19, and Chris Rhoden Jr., 16, were found shot in the head in their sleep in their mobile home down the road. Hanna May had given birth days earlier to a baby girl who was not harmed. Clarence "Frankie" Rhoden, 20 and his fiancee, Hannah "Hazel" Gilley, 20, were also found shot to death in their sleep. Their six-month-old son was in between them covered in blood but unharmed. Frankie’s four-year-old son was unharmed in the home as well.
Kenneth Rhoden, 44, was found shot once in the eye in his camper on Left Fork Rd. more than seven miles away.
Angela Wagner’s mother, Rita Newcomb, pleaded guilty in 2019 to a misdemeanor count of obstruction. She had been charged with forgery and obstruction of justice for lying about signing and notarizing custody documents related to Hanna May, Jake and George’s children. Newcomb has agreed to testify against her family members.
Billy Wagner’s mother, Fredericka Wagner, was initially charged with obstruction of justice and forgery for allegedly lying about purchasing a bullet-resistant vest for Billy. The charges were dropped after it was discovered a plate in the vest was manufactured after the homicides. Prosecutors have said they may refile the charges at a later date. Fredericka has been subpoenaed to testify.

The Wagners did it so they could get custody of the young daughter Jake had with his ex Hanna Rhoden, prosecutors said. Jake indeed won sole custody of the child, now 8, after the murders. The Wagners moved to Alaska. That all changed after authorities arrested them in November 2018, sparking a legal battle lasting almost four years.

Mr. Stone's testimony was painful to watch; he is clearly traumatized. I am sorry for your pain, Mr. Stone. This is how a healthy, loving human being responds to murder, unlike what we so often see via media.
My heart goes out to him. I had a cousin I grew up with and she passed away from cancer. I was (and still am) heartbroken. Cousins can be like siblings and your first best friends. My prayers to the families of this horrible, senseless tragedy. 🙏🏽
Edit: I'm so glad Mr. Stone agreed to have video and audio so he can show the world the affect of what the Wagners did to his family.

she did apologize to him, she actually did a good job. This was a serious discussion, and she did it with the seriousness it deserved, Mr stone also did a fabulous job!
Poor Mr. Stone. He is just absolutely traumatized. My heart hurts for him. I pray for all those who found the victims or had to see them thru their line of work. I'm sure those images are forever burned into their memory. I just can't fathom how a whole family, not just one bad egg in the lot, but the whole family could plot and plan such a heinous crime. It just absolutely blows my mind. Not one of them had any morals or decency to say that's insane and I want no part of this and if you proceed I'll have no choice but to go to the police. I just can't believe it. Also amazing is the one who pulled the trigger the most and would have benefitted the most if they'd gotten away with it, was also the one who ratted them all out to save his arse. How do you blow away two nursing mothers with out a care in the world. Honestly I am just blown away. I can't wrap my head around this. I think George is guilty though I'm holding back to hear all the evidence, but I think he was in on the whole thing but when it was his turn to pull the trigger he got cold feet. Other than not physically pulling the trigger, I think he did actively help pull all this off. And if so I hope he spends the rest of his life behind bars. Death would be too easy, let him suffer with the memories since he seemed to finally get a conscience when he could pull the trigger. Let him relive that every moment he's stuck in that tiny cell. Ugh
I’m blown away too. It’s unthinkable and unimaginable that 4 members of a family could all conspire to do such a horrible extremely evil act.

Omg the prosecutor “what ever her name is” can’t speak a full sentence without saying UM is driving me crazy . Please send her to some kind of speech training. If I was a family member of a murdered victim I would be soooo upset. Her affect is so flat!! She’s ineffective to say the least. For the victims sake get her some speech training!!!!!!!
This case is so enormous proportions I can't believe you would demean the prosecutor. I doubt in my mind you could do her job. Shouldn't be so critical of others.

I truly can't understand how they thought to spare the babies thank goodness but how does it not occur to them or maybe it did that these poor babies would be robbed of their parents love and some end up in the foster system. It's all so very sad. Jake and George Wagner both have young children so how did they not think of their own children being left without parents like these children have been and how did they not think what would happen to their own children if they go to prison? In the months that these crazy selfish monsters made their plans it seems like it would've crossed their minds. As for the Wagner parents how does it not occur to either of them that if they were ever caught and go to prison that none of them would ever see each other again or see their grandchildren that supposedly they care so much about?

I am completely floored to hear they arrested Mr. stone as soon as police arrived! So, he went to go and check on his cousin, calls 911 and than the police come and cuff him and throw him in the back of the cop car!! Are you freaking kidding me!!
They detain people not arrest them. They don’t know who the killer is at the time. It’s pretty standard.

I just don’t know about this case I feel extremely sorry for the remainder of the deceased family however I feel like maybe George is the scapegoat too early to tell I guess will know more as the trial progresses but I do have this gut feeling I hope if he is innocent the defence has a good strategy

To build a foundation. Their line of questioning has to depend on itself, regardless of what has been heard so far. They at least need to recap appropriately or else they won’t be able to ask certain questions without objection.
@@courtneyr6645 I am talking about the cross examination of Mr Stone. All questions asked were already asked by prosecutors and no new questions were asked and nothing new was gleaned from the defense re questioning of the questions asked.

Jake’s statement was that he personally killed Frankie/Hannah Hazel and then Dana, Hanna May and Little Chris. He admits to shooting Chris Sr, but did not kill him. He says Billy killed Chris Sr, Gary and Kenneth.

No disrespect of Hannah she stood her ground and I will always remember her strength and courage for her trying to raise her daughter with Jake in the daughters life. The Family Testimony live is in support of their victims. What is the police testimony blocked for? Who are they supposed to be supporting? It just makes me think they don't want the Public Outside that tiny Courtroom to know what actions they took. It smells fishy. Who is the justice for here? Police should explain their actions to Everyone, Why They Immediately went to the family! Someone should be in there taking shorthand for justice to be halfway see to be fair. Why is prosecution asking about racing, marijuana, and chicken fighting? What has that to do with the annihilation of the Rhoden family?
The defense was planning to use it for an alternative theory and the prosecutor tackled it head on to take the wind out of the defense's sails.

I mean what significance does her knowing he has grandkids make? She did that with Dana's brother too and even asked his kids ages. I don't get why she asks these questions.
They typically will ask them their age and family lineage for most character/timeline establishing witnesses. It’s like how they ask for credentials/résumés for the professional witnesses I.e. coroner, EMT, etc.

Because Kenneth would know it was them and would avenge his brothers, and his families death. Billy sr was afraid of Kenny is what I read, that why his son said that Billy told him ( you would have to shot those two). I really think it was over custody because of Angela, she wanted her Grandchildren at all cost, she had her grandchildren calling her mommy. That’s why I think Tabby was allowed to sleep with George at 11 because she wanted a baby. She is crazy, and her husband,and two sons ruined their lives over her craziness.

I think its like a lot of small town backwoods crap and the real reason will never be known. Its always politics, family feuds, people in positions of power make deals to hide the real reason for it.
Powerful people pulled strings and likely covered up the real reason.

In the little bit of testimony we get to hear, an awful lot of people claim to be the first to discover bodies. It doesn't make sense.
I think the guy that was found in the camper was found last !! I think of my understanding the 1st bodies prompted them to go next door for help but found the other bodies then this one found in the camper was found an hr so later!!

The prosecutor is so stilted and awkward and her questions don’t flow as if she is just making up questions as she goes along.She is not very eloquent…. it’s annoying!
Trying to put this massacre at the hands of a drug cartel or due to drugs instead of the Wagoners is ridiculous to the point of lunacy. This was small potatoes...3-4 pounds is nothing in drug trafficking! This was personal and clearly done by the Wagoner family. Is there more to the story as far as the Wagoner and Rhoden family? Probably...but it was the Wagoner family who commiitted these killings.
I lean to that too based on evidence I know about at the moment. It could be something due to drugs too. I’ve more to watch of course.

This Prosecutor is Rediculious, she laughs things off inappropriately and my guess is she spends more at her hair salon than she did on producing exhibits. This trial is done on the cheap. Cheapest she can get away with. Plus that shabby looking Courtroom. How is tax money spent there?
