I noticed something interesting. Jack told Kate that his reason to carry on Dan's plan to use Jughead in order to wipe away the last three years. Kate responded that not all of those three years were terrible. But when she failed to convince Jack, I noticed the tears in her eyes and her wiping away those tears, while Jack was looking the other way.
Regarding the time jump of 316, don't forget that the freighter storyline showed that there can sometimes be several hours difference between the island area and immediate surrounding area like with the doctor's body.
Either Daniel would spend the rest of his life with a broken brain/memory loss; or he could go to the Island, be cured, make a difference with help that situation and those on the Island, but also be a sacrifice to the Island. Or perhaps Eloise thought Daniel could fix it, and he wouldn't have to die. I don't know... what's the right thing to do? Also, whatever happened, happened.
I love Kate. And yes, she's a divisive character. But like you will fight for Sayid, I will always fight for Jack and Kate. Please post the entire finale at once🙏
26:11 - "Television CG." So, a few episodes ago I left a comment wondering if a shot of the Ajira jet flying through the air was likely CG or a model or did they actually paint an Ajira logo on a real jet liner and film it in flight. You seemed pretty confident that it was easy to do that with CG even in the mid-2000's. I didn't want to say anything at the time but I thought of the sort of questionable submarine CG shot from this episode which just doesn't quite seem real. I'm sure you know a lot more about it than me, but I'm now still wondering about that Ajira plane in flight - it certainly looked real to me.
If you're that angry at Eloise for sending Daniel to his death, do you feel the same about Widmore, who played a major role for doing the same? After all, Widmore was Daniel's father. The Oceanic Six had left the island in late December 2004. They were "rescued" during the first week or so of January 2005. So Kate was right in that they had been off the island for nearly three years.
@@Eowyn187 What? Widmore had conceived Daniel with Eloise. He also financially supported Daniel's education and grant at Cambridge. And he was the one who finally convinced Daniel to go to the island.
@@jimchabai3163 But Widmore still played a big role in sending Daniel to the island. In fact, it was he who convinced Daniel to go. And he WAS Daniel's father.
The anger at Eloise is the emotional connection Dan would have had with his mother. Dan did not know Widmore so there was no emotional connection so Eloise's betrayal is more impactful. Widmore is known to be very cold in his pursuit for the island.
I don’t think they are implying that Ben didn’t know about the plane in general but just at that moment he’d be like what plane? Like he’s not knowing where the hell John is going or what he’s doing or why so he’s like “What Plane?” More like wtf? If that makes sense.
If Jack's plan works, I don't think it would matter if Sawyer, Juliette and Kate left on the sub, the plane would have never crashed, therefore Sawyer and Juliette and Kate never would have met.
Because. What happened... happened. Daniel always went to the island. He always was unstuck in time after the donkey wheel was turned. He Always ended up in the 1950’s where he met his young mother. She always shot him dead and discovered his journal and began the loop again. She can’t stop this event from happening, despite understanding the islands more magical time dilation better than most. The creators originally described her character as a “temporal cop”, someone who keeps the timeline in order. This is due to having foreknowledge, thanks to her dead sons journal. She can’t change the future, so she keeps it on track. Its the same reason Daniel couldn’t help but warn young Charlotte to never come back to the island, resulting in her eventually coming back and dying. Even though he knows it won’t save her, he can’t help but try, because he always did The same reasons the 815ers always helped cause the incident while trying to detonate the jug head, which led to the hatch being built. We are all slaves to the arrow of time. What happened, happened.
Neil, when you're finished with the series, you really should check out the RUclips channel Lost Explained, and start with their earliest video. Any confusion you have will be erased. You could even react to Lost Explained on your channel.
Misunderstood. Kate has her good points. But she also has her flaws and she has done terrible things for selfish reasons. She is no better or worse than most of the major characters.
Most misunderstood character on the show if you ask me. Everyone says she only cares about herself but there’s more than enough evidence that she cares deeply about people, some might argue she cares too much! People will run to defend Ben as a deeply complex character whose not truly bad, but then say Kate is literal trash because she has feelings for two people. As far as killing Wayne, Jack pulled the trigger on Locke and also believed he’d let Jin, Sayid, and Bernard be murdered on the beach, but he gets nowhere near the amount of outlandish hate she gets. Juliette killed her own as a means to an end but people gush about her being better than Kate cuz she’s more “soft” or “feminine.” It’s bizarre. Or just plain misogyny 🤷🏻♀️
Neil, I think you are by far the most intelligent of all the Lost reactors on youtube however there are comments you've made in this video that I wish to comment on but I can't because I don't want to spoil anything for you so, for now, all I can say is Ahhhhhh!!!!
I'm a big Kate fan. Sometimes her behavior is confusing just like all the characters on the island. They are all uniquely damaged people with their own redeeming qualities. Kate is self-sufficient, she's brave, she's learned to be a part of a community despite always having had to fend for herself. She's often selfish but her sense of what's right and her empathy cuts through that at important character defining moments. I like that's she's messy and wrong sometimes, I don't want flat, boring female characters that are always righteous.
I'm not a Kate fan. I think it's because too many fans have made excuses for her worst acts. But I am aware that like the other characters on this show, she is capable of not only monstrous acts, but also real decency.
Since you’ve finished the show I think I’m okay to have spoilers… The scene with “Locke” instructing Richard to tell Locke that he has to die carry’s so much tragedy once you’ve seen the show. The tragedy being that the real Locke only resorted to killing himself because he was he was told he would have to by “Christian” (A personification of “The Island” in John’s mind), as well as Richard, who could be thought of as another personification for John. But since we know who “Christian” and “Locke” are, this was merely the Man in Black tying the noose around Locke because he would be an advantageous vessel. Locke, the man of faith, dies for what he believes to be his purpose and for The Island, but is really a force of rebellion against the island. His actual death is just as downgrading given that Ben stops him from killing himself for just enough time to get some information and then kills him. It’s an incredibly tragic death and the show tricks you into thinking this is Locke for a while. You only get basic hints when Ben goes to be judged. Brutal writing
I find it odd that the runaway was available for Lapidus to use in 2007 . . . after it was created by Ben and the Others in 2004. I think someone other than Ben had ordered the runway to be built.
The reason for 316 going from night to day is just the island is out of time with the rest of the world so it only about 5 to 6 hour difference just like when the freighter dr was killed

101 Episodes Down. 20 Episodes to Go. 🌴🛫🌄🛬🌴 I'm soooo going to miss this reactions once the series ends. Anyone else ? It's still so sad that the writers continually wrote Kate as the love interested in the triangle between Jack and Sawyer and then between Sawyer & Juliette then stick to the original idea ( before they decided to have Jack live and be played by Matthew Fox instead of dying in the pilot played by Michael Keaton ) of Kate being our castaways married leader, with Sayid as her right hand man, with the Rose & Bernard storyline. Only good thing about the whole writing decision is they hired Evangeline Lilly as Kate rather another actress in the role. It's interesting to think of "Rose" aka Kate as the groups leader. If they had of cast L. Scott Caldwell as Kate she would have been amazing in that role as well.
@@kuhpunkt With who ? She was suppose to have Rose's missing husband storyline wasn't she ? Since I said it would be interesting I was suggesting it could have been cool if they hired Rose's actress as Kate if they went the original route with her character as the groups leader.
@@charmedoriginal5923 Kate was supposed to be married, yes - but over the course of the first season she would have fallen in love with one of the survivors. Then at the end of season 1 or beginning of season 2, they would come across the people from the tailsection where she would be reunited with her husband and be torn between the two men. You would have wanted L. Scott Caldwell as the lead? She would have been way too old for that.
@@kuhpunkt Interesting. I've never once heard of the triangle stuff with her husband and lover. Where did you read this ? As I said it's interesting to think about. So you think 54 - 60 is to old to be the lead of a series ?
@@charmedoriginal5923 It's from the early Pilot outlines. Quote: "Is it too Britowesque to make Kate the one who was flying with her husband (now missing and presumed dead) - her primary motivation is not just exploring the island but in finding him? This way, when the guy shows up at the end of the first season (or beyond) and she’s already fallen for one of our other castaways, we get a helluva lot more bang for our buck?" And of course 50+ is too old. Even if they would have wanted that, the network would never have allowed that.
Looking forward to your reactions for the season finale, Neil. Another epic episode. One positive thing about watching it the way you are is that we originally had to wait from May 2009 to February 2010 between seasons 5 and 6. That was a LONG wait.
I'm fairly sure that the beach craft crashed a few years before Flight 815, so I'm a bit confused by your comment. Eko had already been a priest for a while before he boarded Oceanic 815. So the two events are unrelated, chronologically.
Its not a plot hole. "What plane" is a perfectly reasonable question. At the time there were at least 3 crashed planes on the island... and those are just the ones we know about. Ben probably knows about more. What a weird thing to get hung up on.
@@willsofer3679 Im refering to the episode 1 of season 5. Ethan came to the beechcraft and shot john locke. I am assuming that Ben sent him the same way he did with Ethan and goodwin when 815 crashed during Season 3 opening.
Strange,I always consider Juliet to be the one in the way.I always consider Juliet an interloper and an interference in Kate's life.I guess its all perspective but I couldn't stand Juliet,I don't understand why everyone was so concerned with Juliet being happy and not anyone else. That's selfish. The only reason I can possibly imagine anyone feeling anything for Sawyer and Juliet is the amazing acting of Josh Holloway selling that feeling.
You're not alone. I'm not a Juliet fan, either. Something about Elizabeth Mitchell's acting rubs me the wrong way. It's not just Lost, it's everything I've seen her in (LOST, V, Revolution, OUAT, etc). She has some of the strangest sing-song-like line deliveries I've seen, complete with breathy pauses and sighs, and poised looks of "concern" on her face. She's not a terrible actress, but when I can't tell the difference between any of the characters you're playing (aside from the different name and property), then you're probably not a great actor, either. I always felt like the rest of the cast was carrying her to some extent, in each show. But I know I'm in the minority with this opinion.
I guess when some people build an opinion about a character, they won't change it no matter what. The show showed her a bad guy, so she's a bad guy no matter what lol How she was "interference in Kate's life" ?
The reason seems simple to me: it's hard to pin point when exactly they got together but we can assume it's at least a year or two before Kate comes back so he has been with Juliet way longer and is happy and settled. Sawyer & Kate were appart only 3 month after they met and despite some chemistry Kate played was awfull to him a bunch of time.
@@M4ke4l Kate was not good to Sawyer however it was Kate who brought Sawyer into the group in the beginning when no one wanted to have anything to do with him. The change in Sawyer like it or not started with Kate. Also in terms of how Kate treated him how about all the women Sawyer used as a con man, how many hearts and relationships did he break?

The original idea would still have put her in a love triangle, lol.
What do you mean by Rose as Kate?
Quote: "Is it too Britowesque to make Kate the one who was flying with her
husband (now missing and presumed dead) - her primary motivation is not just exploring the island but in finding him? This way, when the guy shows up at the end of the first season (or beyond) and she’s already fallen for one of our other castaways, we get a helluva lot more bang for our buck?"
And of course 50+ is too old.
Sulliet XD
No shout out for Eko??!! You're not right, Neil.🤨
The first episode that left you angry/upset…I can’t conceivably think of any more episodes that might do that. Lol.
Neil catches all the mistakes & plot holes
Who sent Ethan to the beechcraft after its crash? Ethan was sent by Ben at815 crash.
So either ben lost his mind or its a plot hole
How would it be a plot hole?!
What? You think Ekos brother plane crashed at the same time as 815? You are not paying attention to the show my dude
@@willsofer3679 Im refering to the episode 1 of season 5. Ethan came to the beechcraft and shot john locke.
I am assuming that Ben sent him the same way he did with Ethan and goodwin when 815 crashed during Season 3 opening.
Kate just messes up and ruins everything.
Hmmmm . . . we'll see.
25:45 freaking hate her at this point
The show showed her a bad guy, so she's a bad guy no matter what lol
How she was "interference in Kate's life" ?
Sawyer and Juliet are top 5 characters to me. She's 5 and he's 1. Kate is 12, that's my reason
