    Your #2 is my #1 since I first played it back in 2004. What a masterpiece. The regular characters, the franchise famous characters, boss fights, plot, quests, soundtrack, SFX, disciplines, everything is awesome in this game.
    So you convinced me, I will watch the other 19 videos :)

  • @TheRPGChick
    @TheRPGChick 6 лет назад +19

    PS:T!!! I called it correctly in my comment on your first video in the series. Anyone with Planescape: Torment as their # 1 game seriously rocks (pssst! I rock too.) Rayman surprised me, as I don't recall hearing you talk much about the series. Mass Effect 2, hell yeah! And I definitely have to get to V:TM.
    I'm sad to see this series end, but I look forward to seeing what you have next in store. Thanks for all the awesome content. Keep on rockin'!

    Your top 5 are once again more great and interesting games that outside of Mass Effect 2, I haven't tried yet. And Planscape: Torment, while not the type of rpg I would normally play, seems to have the type of story and world I'm interested in exploring. As for my top games, the ones that come to mind are Shenmue, Shadow of the Colossus, Tekken 3, Pathologic, and Shining Force: Ressurection of the Dark Dragon.
    Congrats on completing this list series, I'm sure it was a lot of work and I really enjoyed these.

    • @Cannotbetamed1
      @Cannotbetamed1  6 лет назад

      Of those I've only played Shadow of the Colossus. Pathologic is one I really want to get into though. I tried the very beginning, but never got past that. I've watched a lot of videos about it though.

    After watching the entire series of your top 100 games I will say this...your list has to be one of, if not the most unique of these kinds of video game countdown videos I have watched on youtube, with only a handful of triple a games or obvious choices that would be on most lists. That said, only a mad soul would not include Mass Effect 2 in their top 100! While this made many of the games unrelatable to me, it was fascinating to see a list of games belonging to genres I am simply not familiar with. Anyway, it was a wonderful countdown that had me watching all the way to the end. Not to mention that making a top 100 favorite games of all time list is no easy task. I know, I've tried and never can seem to finish it. So, all in all, just wanted to say great job and look forward to your coming videos!

    Love your attention to detail in modern or modernish games. I sort of gave up with so many over done tropes over the years that I have missed out on a ton according to what I have seen here. Thanks Pam.

    I've watched the entire series because I love your passion. You've introduced me to a lot of games, however, I have a backlog of around 500 games I already own. So, once I get that backlog down a bit, I will be coming back to watch this, and find the games I'm interested in.

  • @DisplacedGamers
    @DisplacedGamers 6 лет назад +1

    I held off on the last five entries in your series so I could marathon the last 25 games. What a wonderful, diverse list. I have absolutely no idea how I would go about assembling a personal Top 100 games list. I know my number one would most likely be The Secret of Monkey Island, but there were also games in your list that I have had in the backlog for decades. Perhaps it is time to finally play a few. I can only imagine how much time you put into planning, playing + capturing, shooting, and editing this series. Well done. Well done, indeed. Where do you go from here?

    I stumbled on your channel and then had to watch all your top 100 . Great list,, so many of my top games are in it, minus the nes ones which i dont know or have played since I owned an Amiga back then (and played Loom and all the lucas arts/sierra etc there). The thing that drew me watching all of them is the fact that its an honest top list, most youtubers fall in the trap of playing it safe and keep mentioning the same games,.not all of them though, fortunately. I will be watching your videos since I know now that I will find something of interest to me.

    Great list, Pam. With this series and your adventure game rankings, I have found about 15 games to my Steam wishlist. Also, you got me appreciating smaller, well-written games. I´ve mostly played AAA and AA games before, which is a bit strange since my music and movie taste isn´t at all mainstream. But yeah, have to dig deeper into this artform too.
    So, thanks again. Great channel, I really like what I´m hearing and seeing in your videos.

    Yessss! Congrats on finishing this project! It has been well worth the wait.
    I'm happy that my three locked-in guesses were correct. But I am ashamed to confess that I haven't played ANY of your top 5. I mean, I started Torment, but I don't think I got very far through before I stopped coming back to it. Mind you, I was still heavily involved with various MMOs at the time, so I was finding Torment slow and clunky in comparison. I'll start a new game this year, I think, once I've shaken off most of that MMO mindset.
    I do own, XCom, and Mass Effect 1&2, so I WILL play these, I promise! I always get hyped for them when I hear you (or Liore) talking about them.
    Rayman was one of the platform franchises that I never really got into. I've only ever played one, the N64 one, which was 3d and...alright. But the more recent Rayman games are really beautiful and smooth. I'd definitely play Legends!

    • @Cannotbetamed1
      @Cannotbetamed1  6 лет назад

      You definitely have to be up for a lot of reading to play Torment. When I was in the WoW mindset I didn't read any text at all.
      I didn't even know there was an N64 Rayman. I just tried one of the 3D ones on Xbox 360 and I didn't like it all. 2D is definitely the way to go.

    So this has been a great series. I've been made aware of quite a few games that I'm gonna have to play someday. You have very eclectic tastes in games (and I only mean that in the most postiive way possible). It's very refreshing to see a favorites list where all the top games aren't games from the last couple years, which I see too often. Also nice to see a list where all the top picks aren't the usual suspects like Super Mario 3, Link to the Past, Super Metroid, SOTN, FFVI, etc. (not that there's anything wrong with those games; but nice to see some different choices for a change.
    Never played anything in your top 5 although I love the Rayman series and I've had a friend tell me I shouldn't go through life not having played the Mass Effect series. So I think those 2 will be games I look into soonish.
    Anyway, great vid. Time for a retro video game review now, yes?

    Rayman Legends is probably my favorite platformer too. It’s a good game to play with my nephew because when he dies (a lot) I can bring him back in as long as I’m alive. I also think it has one of the best soundtracks of all time... that underwater music gets me every time. I never hear many people give it the praise it deserves. This video showed up in my feed, I’m gonna have to check out the rest now.

    I havent been keeping up with the entire list, but I am going to go back and have a look at it! Interestingly, Ive never heard of your number 1 game - I will have to look into it.
    As far as my own personal favourites, there are games I have found memorable, for their emotional content - at least one of which you introduced me to (stasis and its sequel, I can't remember if I heard about The Swapper from you or if that was someone else, either way brilliant stuff).
    The first is Silent Hill 2, I think. I can think of few games that inspired such emotion and such a sense of immersion (maybe because I have depression, and I think it touches on that very very well). Everything, from the music to the story to the visuals to the sound effects its just creepy (the first time I played it I could rarely play it at night) and, revisiting it I got a great feeling of sadness from it, tinged with beauty. The Swapper and the Stasis games are on the list too, mainly for their uniqueness. Another would be Knights of the Old Republic, hasnt held up that great in some ways but it was amazing in its day. Doom 3 I like because it scared the crap out of me, and first 3 Mass Effect games (havent played Andromeda, and yes - I like the end of 3, its about sacrifice and how whatever choices we make in life, we still get screwed, lol). The first Streets of Rage on the Megadrive/Genesis, ecap attack on the same system, I should probably make a video - maybe one day, lol.
    Either way, what I have seen of your series has been very insightful, and I will be going back and watching it all - you have a very discerning eye, and I think we have similar sensibilities in some ways, so I look forward to catching up on the other entries. Hopes this finds you well, Pam - thank you for the list. :o)

      I've always wanted to play the Silent Hill games but I've never been able to get into them. I turned off 1 out of fear of the radio very quickly and haven't spent more than a few minutes with 2. Maybe I should watch a Let's Play of them so I can get the story.

    • @Feenix102
      @Feenix102 6 лет назад

      Yes, the radio is a very creepy feature. Very well made games, the first three really are very good. Later in the series they did seem to lose their way a bit, but the first ones were very effective. Actually, your piece about women in videogames recently - Maria in SH2 is an amazing female character (although she isnt a mother). What all the female characters in SH2 represent are incredibly complex actually - worth watching a lets play for that reason alone, perhaps. And then of course the player character in three is a young girl, though its debatable if shes a mother figure - she certainly can be seen that way by the end of the game. Worth checking out. :o)

    Awesome to reach the end of this journey! I really need to play Rayman Legends at some point. I remember buying the original on PS1 and being incredibly frustrated with the platforming, so I traded it away. I do own a copy of Legends, however, because I heard so many good things. I also need to get to Mass Effect 2. I played through the first one about 3 years ago, or so, and quite enjoyed it, but I've heard that 2 has the best story overall, and has better combat mechanics than the janky setup in the original. Vampire is intriguing, I may have to look into that further, as I like vampire lore. And Planescape Torment is a name I've heard over and over the last few years, but didn't know much about it. It looks pretty interesting, however, so I might have to see about putting that on my Steam wishlist. Hats off to you for taking the time and the undertaking to do a top 100 - I'm not sure I'd have the will to rank them all like this!

    Good job, well done! I liked most of the games on your list and got to know a few new ones (or ones I wasn't able to play yet). Keep on doing your videos, they are quite interesting. I was a bit surprised to see Planescape Torment on number 1 because there are no other Infinity Engine games on it (or did I miss them?). By the way, I love all Infinity Engine games and Planescape is probably the one with the best writing. Chris Avellone did a great job on it. Oh, it was nice to see Commander Pam Shepard. ;) ME2 is definetly the best of the trilogy. And I absolutely need to check out Bloodlines.Thx again and see you next time! 👍

      Baldur's Gate 2 was number 56. It was just those and Icewind Dale that used that engine, wasn't it? I always heard good thing about Icewind Dale but in the hour or two I spent with it I found it to be totally focused on combat with almost no story. Am I remembering correctly? It's been a long time.

    • @petermaasz
      @petermaasz 6 лет назад +1

      Ah, you're right Baldur's Gate 2 is also on the list (which is the best game ever imho... I think I already said that in the comments of its video :) ). Yes, unfortunately there were only both Baldur's Gate and both Icewind Dale games and Planescape Torment made with the Infinity Engine. You're right Icewind Dale focuses much more on combat rather than story (I'm a bit stuck on my Longplay of Icewind Dale right now, damn real life...), BG is the good middle way between combat and story in my opinion. Anyway, like I said before, you did a good job with this video series and have a really good taste in video games (in my opinion). I'm looking forward to your next projects and/or reviews. And have a nice day (or I guess it's night in Canada right now?). 'Til next time.

    i just got all 700 teensies in rayman legends yesterday.. the game definitely had some challenging moments.. for anyone playing.. if u play the 8-bit levels, my tip is to run through the original versions a few times first.. if u do that then u will die a lot less in the 8-bit ones.. i think the absolute hardest level in the game though was "amazing maze infiltrated"... it was so hard that i had internal bleeding right under my thumbnail.. it was really sore and then it turned black
