CG Challenge 2021:
By the 30th of September create an ANIMATION showcasing something valuable (asset/item/something) and the way to store/protect it.
Send your work (Downloadable Vimeo link) to challenge@lebrov.com with "Valuable Asset Challenge" in the subject. Please, tell the story behind your work and provide proof of ownership (screen recordings, time-lapses, screenshots).
The winner will receive a 10G Synology Server (DS1621+): bit.ly/3qEIT8Z
To make it fully packed, the winner will get a set of extensions to enhance the server's performance even further! (2x8GB Ram, 10GbE Network, 4x12TB HDDs to start).

I think we definitely need a follow up FAQ videos.
I have several questions, for example, can I use a character model not created by myself.
Also, is the time lapse necessary or can I just send proof after the scene is done? Like viewport screenshots and videos
Of course. You can use anything as long as you have permission to use them

I think the safe play here is to model a train inside a house.
Excellent challenge… encourages maximum creativity and imagination. This is something I personally feel is missing in other, similar challenges. Great work!

- If I remember correctly, vimeo only enables premium users to make the video downloadable. Is google drive viable as an alternate?
- How long should it be?
- Can I use downloaded models?
- Can I use copyrighted music?

How I understood it, there are no limitation on how to create it, otherwise he would've mentioned. And the proof of ownership is just something that shows you did it, don't have to record all of it
He did say show screenshots of viewport and the rest is up to you weather you want to use downloaded free assets or manually constructed :) Good luck
don't think you have to record anything. anyways OBS is a good free software to record.

Did you camera project your video without the jar to a 3d scene and comped back later?
Or you have a physical jar without the fireflies and you comped only the fireflies to it?

A quick question: does it have to be a downloadable Vimeo link? Or is it possible to upload it to Vimeo and make it downloadable via dropbox?
to do that on Vimeo we have to subscribe to video plus. I think that's kind of a bummer to have a paywall to enter the challenge :(
