  • Another in the series of sea fishing in Cardigan Bay, Wales (UK) and the second from Clarach Bay.
This video covers two sessions spanning September and October (filmed on 30.09.23 and 10.10.23). Both were fished over low water and up to the top of the tide. I came here to try and catch a double-figure bull huss. That target was not achieved, however bull huss were caught in both sessions, with the first also producing a bass and small-eyed ray. Techniques, bait use and rigs are dealt with.
For venue details see my first Clarach Bay video:

Hi Mick ... Despite the adverse weather ... You had a nice mixed bag ... On the second session a pair of bull huss came to shore ... Another enjoyable video, as always ... John.

Awesome again Mick, got a mackerel sky here today with a lot of smoke from the bushfires, temperature 42, would love 2 b fishing on a East Sussex beach at night, in the COLD. Happy catching from Australia Nick

Rather be where you are at the moment Nick - we've just had our 10th named storm of the winter and for one reason or another I've not been able to get out sea fishing. Hopefully that will change in the next couple of weeks - and thanks again for watching and commenting.

Hi mick. A good place to try is further up the coast at barmouth. Good fishing to be had by the train bridge were the estuary comes into the sea. Had some clonking bass there and some good flatties as well.

Thanks for the suggestion - yes, I have that venue on my radar and will try it at sometime; when the weather improves and I'm back in action!

    Hi Rod.
I really enjoy your videos a lot.
What's intriguing to me is: What is in your Tackle bags. I'd love to watch a video of yours unpacking. Although it looks quite a lot what you're carrying - rucksack, seatbox, bag and holdall - I would bet, it's rather efficiently packed and ready to face any water or weather -situation. I'd very much appreciate tips on a packing list. Tight christmas and best fishes,
    Kobi from Germany

Thanks for the idea - my gear is quite often in a mess and at the moment, it does need some sorting out; but after I get round to doing that, I'll try and work your suggestion in to one of my future vids.

I grew up in Aberystwyth, mainly fished Tanybwlch beach on the south side of Aber. Well worth a try if you're ever back there.

Thanks - I've looked at it, fished for a couple of hours near the top of the tide, but didn't catch - didn't really give it enough time as I wanted to fish the low water elsewhere. When would you say is the best state of tide and best time of year to visit?

@@rodsangleuk6283 I always prefered around top water there as it's quite a steep, pebbley beach so there is more depth. I lure fished off the stone jetty towards the beach a few months ago and picked up a garfish but no bass on that occasion. I always preferred summertime as winter just produced doggies whenever I tried!

    Good afternoon Michael
Good session even in far from ideal conditions, but you did well .
The ray was a nice surprise, the bullhuss are stunning fish especially the larger specimens,, I lived right on top of the Bristol channel for a number of years and had some good hugs there ... but a huss is a huss well done my friend..
Thank you and look forward to your next outing..
    Best regards 😎

Thanks Michael - sorry for the late reply; have been out of action for a bit. Yes - I don't mind catching bull huss, as compared to their cousins, the dogfish. They fight harder, can grow much bigger and more importantly, you don't scrape the skin off your hands handling them!

Certainly not a waste of time Michael, some great fishing under challenging conditions. I’ve never caught a bull Huss, they seem to be full of attitude. A big one I imagine could be a bit of a handful. Thanks for another super video.

I'm visiting the area a couple of times a year now; but it would take some convincing for me to move there - the 20mph speed limit in a lot of places is a bit off putting! Thanks for watching Rob - hope to resume fishing more locally soon!

Why don't you use a beach buddy?

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  7 месяцев назад

I like to be near the waters' edge, so move up and down with the tide. I used to use one, but on some venues the tide goes too far out for me to set one up on the strandline and be fishing quite a distance away from it.
