  • The first in a series of sea fishing in Cardigan Bay, Wales (UK).
    This video covers two daytime sessions in April (filmed on 03.04.23 and 04.04.23) fishing at Llanrhystud on two different tides. This is the first time I've fished the venue and the intention was to try and catch small-eyed rays and possibly bull huss. I knew that there were whiting and dogfish to be caught and was told that there had been a run of codling here. I didn't blank and learned a fair amount; but was disappointed by losing a fair few fish. Techniques and rigs are dealt with, together with venue details.

    Good idea taking your plastic seatbox on the 2nd session as the tide floods quickly on the shallow beach. Love to see you down at Shoreham again 👍

      @@rodsangleuk6283 I'd wait a while before heading to Shoreham. Had 2 blanks in last week, day and night. The close proximity of trammel nets not helping.

      There seems to be more dogs around than ever at the moment. Can't blame them for being curious - its the owners that are normally at fault. Thanks again Nick.

    Some really nice looking venues you are fishing in the videos of Cardigan Bay. It seems you more or less have the place to yourself with some nice scenery and marks that look as though they have real potential. If you go back to Wales with Bull Huss in mind my recommendation would be Cilan Head near Abersoch as long as you can get through the Doggies! Great video, all the best Gordon.

      Many thanks for the info Gordon and I appreciate your comments. Yes - I only saw one other angler fishing, the whole time I was there on this trip; and I'm sure there would be plenty to catch given the right conditions.

    great beach, one of my locals. when there is a surf running there is no need to cast far, great at dusk or dawn with surf for bass and rays in summer. Had some huss and conger from there over the years and the odd turbo.

    Welcome back,Michael . The picture quality in the first session was superb. Have you got a new camera or was it the crystal clear conditions. Hope the rods weren't damaged when they went crashing 🤞 . Looking forward to the next episode.

      Thanks Rob - no, same action cameras as before - the light was very good for filming during the first session. Those Colmic rods are very tough and the rod rings are superb - I've bent one slightly out of position before; but no damage done, despite plenty of abuse - and its not the first time they've been pulled on to the ground!

    Struck too early?
    No point striking at all when beach fishing. Just wind down quickly until feeling the weight of the fish.
    Striking, then feeling for a fish, then reeling in slowly? Thats the best way to lose fish👎

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  Месяц назад

      Sounds like you fish with mono - it's a different story when you fish with braid reel lines.
