Catch Fish from Cardigan Bay: BORTH - Rock Armour Groynes

- Another in the series of sea fishing in Cardigan Bay.
This video covers two sessions fished at the rock armour groynes end of Borth (filmed on 25.05.23 and 28.09.23). I came here hoping to catch turbot and small-eyed rays; but conditions weren't right for flatfish and it was mainly about catching as many schoolie bass as possible. Each session fished differently; but a few decent fish did show up. Techniques and rigs are dealt with, together with venue details.

Thanks for your continued support and kind remarks.
@@rodsangleuk6283 it's a pleasure .. and thank you
Great video and session again Michael 👍 well done buddy 👏
Thanks again👍
Amazing video nice bass greetings from North Spain La Coruña
Thanks or that 👍
Another very enjoyable video. Certainly looked a bit bleak up there but a steady stream of fish was adequate compensation. Please keep them coming!
Glad you enjoyed it - yes can be prone to being wind swept. Not fished there in winter yet - probably much harsher conditions then.
Magnificent video again, quite different conditions, but on the fish both times and a wonderful ray. appreciate your efforts sir 🎣
Many thanks again!
Awesome again Mick. Happy catching from Australia Nick
Thanks again Nick 👍
Interesting video Michael, great small eye. The venue immediately screams bass so not surprising that they were the predominant species.
Thanks Chris - yes - surf beaches scream bass! When it's calmer flatfish show more often. The small eyed rays like the surf here, so distance casting is not really an advantage.
To nice sessions ,that beach also has a habit of chucking up a stingray or two each year ...I think it still holds the Welsh record for one
Thanks - that's an interesting bit of info.
30yrs fishing thete ive never seen or heard of a sting ray lol ,,, blonds thornys etc yes but no stigrays 😅
Hi Mick ... Well done on your first small eyed ray from Borth ... The schoolies kept you busy over the two sessions ... The keeper bass would be a welcome addition for the table ... I would have really enjoyed the last session you had 👍🎣🤓 ... John.
Many thanks again - yes there are plenty of bass there, just need the bigger ones to come along now and again. It seems that you have to get your timing right to be there when the rays are about.
Put them back to breed ,
@@tellitlikeitis-rg4ny ... Try telling that to the commercial fishermen that catch the species big and small ... One kept bass for the Angler occasionally, will have little or no effect on breeding stocks ...
Good little fishing film! I thought Bass over in the UK had to be returned is it No longer the case 🤔
Best regards Smith
Thanks. You can keep two bass a day, but they have to be over 42cm.
Fly an EU flag and be able to clean an area out from what I've seen close in around the Gower.
@@rodsangleuk6283 trouble is ppl sneak out smaller ones , put them back the irony is the larger bass are the ones that breed
Hi Mick. Yet again...another great video although I felt really cold watching it what with the wind, rain and what looked like fairly big waves!. Congratulations of your first small eyed ray from Borth. Any idea how much it weighed? Hope you're keeping well. Cheers. Ken
The small eyed was only a couple of pound, I suppose. I believe they tend to average about 4lb there - however I do lose what I thought was a much bigger one in the next video, but we'll never know! Thanks Ken 👍
Hi do you find that seat box supports your back with the back rest.cheers love the vids
Yes it does; however I've lost one of the hinge pins, so one side of the backrest is loose until I find the time to fix it!
Borth is my second home fished every part of it over 30 yrs , there are certain marks that fish well along the beach , its changed since the storms the beach has flattend out and there are no gullies now , great flatty beach , btw farmfoods is in abber conserve our breeding bass and buy your fish there , and take rubbish home with you
I appreciate you watching, but I hope you're not suggesting that I leave rubbish on the beaches!
@@rodsangleuk6283no wasnt on about you bud ,, recently there has been rubbish left by anglers , line bait packets etc , thebbeach at top is right on the nature reserve , town end by the stones is a breeding ground for birds
