Valid points for prefering hotels. Personally, I prefer AirBnBs over hotels, but they have become more expensive in the last couple yesrs. As a slow traveler, in a hotel I feel like a tourist whereas in an AirBnB I feel more like I'm living amongst the locals and have more privacy. To each their own!
Last week we booked a Luxury Cabin, but it was anything but. Lets start here. Peeling paint, patched celings, unpainted as well, air conditioning had soaked the dry wall, trash in bags on property, stained tables, stained bedding, ripped bedding, bathroom cabinet seems someone used a axe on it, yes. Coffee maker filled with bugs, toaster filled with bugs and toast, doors falling off hinges, a oven mitt that literally made me want to throw up, bugs all over on furniture and mantles, company that managed (host) did not respond. We had to call Airbnb and we immediately gathered the luggage and departed for home. We will not accept filth. The cabin had a $180.00 cleaning fee, @ $350 nightly. Posted a very short clip of what we encountered on my channel, we had to provide Airbnb a full video and photo catalog of all the aforementioned disasters. Never again . Sadly the Luxury cabin was supposedly cleaned 48 hours before as someone else had been there. I dont think so. There was even a weird pillow and rolled up blanket under the deck like someone had been there.
I always feel safe in small hotels/homestays across South East Asia- and the atmosphere is nice. You often run into some interesting characters from around the world...even Hawaii😎
So with you on the AirBnBs. Tried them, don't use them. No one to call when something goes wrong, or they don't get back to you. No daily cleaning like you get in a hotel. No breakfast options. And the cleanliness is dubious at best. Been in some that were so dusty. There are so many low cost hotels in SEA that it doesn't make sense to book ABnBs.
I think you're right about stay duration. Used to be, the discount for a one-week stay in AirBnb made it cheaper than hotels, but AirBnb has raised fees -- a lot. Your videos really got me thinking about hotels instead, and showed me lots of good options for cities I will soon visit. Thanks!
@@RetireandGo I've had mostly good experiences with AirBnb in Mexico. I've also found it to be a good way to make inroads with landlords and find cheap rents. That's more useful for me in Mexico, where I spend a good chunk of my year to save money.

I personally wouldn’t want to be part of that issue so I’d rather stay in a hotel anywhere I go (not always possible but I do my best)
