I travelled solo for the first time last year and actually found love in Bali, a local man. My purpose with the trip was definitely not to find love but I did.. on Valentine's Day
Hi Chidi I met my wife in Bali while I was traveling there to surf. We have been married for 11 years now! Bali is beautiful the people are so friendly. Your videos are very informative and interesting. You really radiate light and love, more of us should have your attitude!
The outdoor kitchens are quite common in Asian households mainly because the cooking involves alot of spices and cooking outdoors eliminates any smells lingering indoors which makes sense. I am very surprised about the hair braiding since the quickest way u can tell Australian girls have just come back from Bali is their hair is braided lol. I am sure there are hair salons that do this in Bali. I am glad you mentioned the local people. Far too many expat vloggers talk about the cafes, spas, activities in Bali, very few mention the rich Balinese culture and frankly I don’t understand why people move to another country if they are disconnected from the local community and culture; it makes no sense. Finally you mentioned all the good looking guys are visiting. Actually there are alot of good looking local guys and of course it depends on personal preference but many western people have found love with locals and have been very happy. And like you, some meet their soul mates who are travelling there much like in Eat Pray Love. Love ur Gecko 🦎 impression lol.
To mitigate against the bugs situation, especially at night is to wear long sleeve light linen tops and trousers! Learnt the hard way when I lived in Barbados!
Perhaps next time you might want to get your hair done in Jakarta, the capital city. There are heaps of international standard salons and beauty shops that you should def check out, so you no longer need to fly so far away to malaysia to get your hair done :)
I’ve traveled to Bali 3 times since 2010. I absolutely love it but loved it more before it became overrun by influencers. Uluwatu is one of my favorite areas on the island.
As a Black American Male from Los Angeles who currently lives in Jakarta, I had a problem with some of the Australian's in Bali. Some of them are rude and they think they own the place. My Wife is Indonesian so we do get a lot of looks as well. We plan to move back to Bali in 2023 but, I really need to find a good place to live. We do have Geckos here in Jakarta and I live on the 21st floor of a High Rise. 😎

Hi Chidi, I have a question regarding pets. I see you got your sweet little dog Ginger whilst over there, and I was just wondering what arrangements you have for dog sitting whilst you're away travelling? - We're from the UK and have 2 cats but are considering buying/building there but we need real solutions for cat sitting as we also wish to travel around and even come back to the UK for a couple of months of the year but we don't want to put them into a cattery. If you could let me know a few good and reliable local businesses that offer a cat sitting service that would be much appreciated! :) Thank you!

What is the shopping like for clothing? I wear a size 16/18 and in America larger sizes are expensive. I actually love love love the way you dress. Where do you find your clothing there?
I go to Bali 2 or 3 times a year. The shopping for larger sizes is more difficult but not impossible like some Asian countries. The best thing is it is cheap to get things tailor made to fit & you get to pick the fabric. All you do it take a photo of what you you see locally and then go to a tailor & they will make it for you very quickly at not much more than buying off the rack.

Indonisa people are some the most friendliest and sweets people I have ever came across. They’re so warm and welcoming. I have Indonisa friends who I met while traveling in Egypt and am still friends with them to date. Racism doesn’t exist there because they’re Muslims and Islam is against racism.

If you go to a third world country wanting to look glamorous all the time, and have all the convenienes you have in the US then stay in the U.S. I have been in quite a few countries outside the U.S and I like them all better than the U.S because of the authentic and genuine warmth of the people, and a more peacful, non stressful environment which is the most important thing for me.
How do you manage to travel ethically? do you shop, eat, stay in Indonesian-owned businesses? Since Bali's biggest moneymaker is in the tourism industry it makes sense that some locals may feel threatened by western companies /people who open businesses in Bali; making it more competitive for the natives.
She does! She has spoken about before and encourages others to utilize local businesses as much as possible. She's talked about exactly what you're writing about.
Missing Bali now. The crack head dogs lol , i once met a bunch of them at night with my friend and they were barking non stop abit scary. I agree that i never experienced racism on my 11 day trip. It was other tourist from Asia at attractions we went that would sometimes stare/take pictures. But Indonesian people i find dont care, they are very welcoming and respectful only curious to know what brought you to Bali.
Oh they stare and laugh at black folks in other Indonesian islands. You see Bali has developed an International Tourism Industry so the folks are more open. I lived in Surakarta Java for one year.
To ward off mosquitoes, you can lit up mosquito coil. Bugs and gecko are harmless. For peaceful sleep, its better you sleep in an air conditioner room and also indoor bathroom/toilet. In this part of the world, outdoor kitchen is common becos nobody wants to mess up their ktichen; there are lots of frying. And yes, an indoor kitchen is good. Most important to look out for : as long as you are tourists/foreigners people tend to try to upsell you

I just found you, and I love all your videos 💝
One thing you made really clear was that you do not like the bugs! Lol
May I ask who your hair braider is? My friend would definitely need it!
Most important to look out for : as long as you are tourists/foreigners people tend to try to upsell you
Thank you so much. It was very informative.
Love this Chidi!
Lovely video. I’d love to video but I know that tropical places always have bug issues! As an American NO BUG ZONES ARE A MUST!
Can you not order specialty products online? Do venders such as Amazon not ship to Bali?
I also have this question

Have you moved yet? If you have how are you finding the place?
What if you have children and plan to move to Bali, is it child friendly and how’s the education system?

@@Chidi_ashley I have been following your page and love it. I have goals to visit Bali in 2022 with hopes to move there permanently one day.
@@Chidi_ashley when you are ready to visit let me know! I am a transplant from Boston living here for 20 years. I want to move to Bali to slow life down even more. Lol! 💕
The geckos will eat water bugs and/or flying roaches! Learned this in Hawaii (Oahu).
