    Correction: using a straw to punch through the middle primarily removes the core, not the leaves. You can pluck the leaves off by hand.

      I've done it. I added some no sugar pectin for a better jelly like texture and make sure to add the sweetener (i used swerve)after it's cooled down to the sweetness you like. It won't last long in the fridge tho I keep them frozen and take it out little by little

    I tried making some this morning. I had a few issues though. I ended up having to boil it for a lot longer. More like 30 mins as there was a lot of fluid, so I had to reduce it. I used strawberries, fresh lemon, chia seeds and stevia to sweeten. Sadly the end product tastes almost exactly like vomit 🤦🏼‍♀️. Do you think it was the stevia or the lemon? Thinking of trying maple syrup instead of stevia next time. Any advice welcome. I’m pretty new at this make from scratch thing.

    • @fibromiteready2fight809
      @fibromiteready2fight809 4 года назад

      Stevia is definitely too bitter for this recipe. Maple syrup would be better.

      Look, there's nothing wrong with a little sugar here. You will use just about some teaspoons on your toast. I made it with half the weight of the strawberries in sugar, thickened it with agar agar, wich has fiber and is great for the colon, and I put the chia seeds in my homemade bread

    Great Site congrats !!! .. I see you do noil bring back the strawbrries with the chia to the heat ... when you eat the jam don´t you have the chia seeds all over your teeth ???

    • @the_simple_green
      @the_simple_green  6 лет назад +1

      Youarturo thank you!! The chia seeds naturally over time absorb the liquid from the strawberries so there is no need to heat it further. The chia seed don’t stick to your teeth ☺️

    Is there a reason why you decided to add the agave syrup? I have never made jam before, so I do not know why it would be necessary if the strawberries are already sweet? I am just wondering if it makes a difference or not.

    • @MsIGetLotOfThat
      @MsIGetLotOfThat 6 лет назад

      Andrea Castillo a lot of the time strawberries are sour. You’re lucky if you get a whole container of sweet ones

    • @the_simple_green
      @the_simple_green  5 лет назад

      Andrea Castillo hi Andrea! The agave is to give it a little sweetness and help the ingredients stick together somewhat. If your strawberries are particularly juicy and sweet, you could probably omit :)

    • @the_simple_green
      @the_simple_green  5 лет назад

      L.I.N.O LivingInNoOrder no, there is no water added, but if your strawberries are out of season they may be less juicy. In that case, you can add a small amount of water if you like!

    THanks for the Recipe Simple Green, But how can a Jam be Non -Vegan is my question .

    • @the_simple_green
      @the_simple_green  6 лет назад

      Dionis Dionis most are vegan friendly so long as they use organic cane sugar. There are some brands of sugar that use bone char during processing. This is more a recipe for showing how to use chia in jam, than it is a recipe for making ‘vegan jam’ (even though it is vegan)!
