Little extra note: sterilising the jars with heat also means there's less of a shock to the glass when the jam goes in, if you put hot jam into cold jars they can crack.
I have a strawberry jam jar made in 1964 never opened in our basement from my grandparents. My parents and myself never opened it. My husband will this week. Multigenerational homes magic ❤
It looks like a simple recipe. Just a couple of suggestions for those that might read…I use a potato peeler to extract the stems so no waste like you get when you cut them off. Just slide tip if peeler under the stem and pull it out. Super simple. Also any canned knows to have a funnel to pour the ham into the jars. A canning funnel is a must. I can wait to make my jam today! Thanks for the recipe!

Used to make my own strawberry jam years ago but need to get some new plants again. Have plum, apple, and cherry trees that I do things with though. Thanks for reminding me about strawberry jam - and I like it fairly smooth (I'm with your kids on this preference)!
This is my favorite jam recipe. I use it for strawberries, blueberries, peaches and raspberries. It is just the best, easiest recipe. However, I have never had my jam done in 15 minutes (I wish! lol). Mine always takes about 30-40 minutes to reach the right consistency. But boy, is this easy and good!!

Update: Finally got the stuff for it so I'm canning my strawberry jam for the first time this week, super excited! Thanks for the recipe and tips!
how long do they last before getting rotten? I was gifted couple of newly made jars and they got bad in less than two months even though I had put them in the fridge!
I jut made it today! My strawberry jam turns out delicious! By the way it took me 45 minutes to cook it not 15 minutes. Thank you so much John! You are amazing!
As a young chef I ran out of jelly for my lunch and I absolutely love the jam! I love how it’s so quick and easy to make, and yet even my mom who is a health coach and doesn’t like things that are really sweet and she loved it! Thanks
I make mine with cinnamon and other spices like clove, cardamom and all spice. I also make berries jam, berries syrup for our French toasts and hot cakes, and a delicious strawberry chutney, that balances savory and sweet and goes perfect with cheeses and in cold cuts sandwiches.
This makes such delicious jam!!! Thank you so much for sharing. When I made it, I halved the amount of sugar and added some flavored honey. Used the same technique and it was amazing.
I had a friend show me how to make freezer strawberry jam. It was so sweet I couldn't eat it and finally tossed it. I probably should have just added more strawberries to the mix. I love your recipe - making a smaller quantity, no sterilizing, no pectin. I'll be enjoying strawberry jam this weekend! Thanks John.
I just made a small batch of homemade strawberry jam for the first time a couple of weeks ago with berries I got from one of my local farms. The recipe I used was almost exactly the same as yours, except I used 1 cup of sugar. Delicious and I definitely break my strawberries down until there are hardly any chunks.
Love freezing fresh berries and sugar mixture each summer, then making jam in winter. It makes the entire house smell delicious! Hardest part whenever making jam is to not eat all of it on ice cream! 🍨🍓❤️
Hey! You forgot to mention that if folks use a spoon or other utensil to get the jam into the jars that utensil also needs to be sterilized too! Cuz cross contamination isa real thing.
I love having strawberry jam with toasted bread but I always wondered how to make it own jam and here is the recipe!!!🍓🍞 Also I have a strawberry plant in my backyard so I can use them for my jam🌴
Second year doing your recipe! Last year, started making jams in April/May, but this year could not resist the first strawberries at the market, so today, first batch! The best and easiest homemade strawberry jam ever!
I absolutely love this recipe, it's the first jam I've ever made and I'll definitely be making it again. I used pineberries since they're so close to strawberries and since I'm a major fan of sweetness and the pineberries aren't as sweet as strawberries I added just a little more sugar and it was perfect! So glad I found this video!
If anyone is thinking about making this, do it!!!! It’s soooooooo good. Not sure I’ll be able to go back to regular jam after this. I added a splash of orange juice in mine

I used to make blackberry, raspberry, strawberry, apricot, peach, blueberry, and grape jelly , plus apple butter, and pear butter for year's, now I just make strawberry that's what my family loves. But I do Waterbath can my jams.
My Mom used to soak some of the strawberries in rum for a day (so they stayed whole), then mixed them with the rest, and cooked them all together. I used to love finding whole fruits in my jam - they were a bit chewy and more flavorful than the runny part of the jam.
Hi, I was wondering can you use this recipe for other fruits? I.e. peach, mangos, plum, grape, cherry? How about a combination? And which ones can you do a combo with? Please let me know, I would appreciate it a lot.

John, your Strawberry Jam has inspired me to start making Jams/Jellies/Preserves recipes so i can start selling them. I might use this recipe to make Blue Strawberry jam. Thanks for the idea
I was expecting John to mention pectin (or apples) to thicken the jam but he only mentioned it to say 'No pectin needed!'. This was very helpful as I spent 3 hours yesterday trying to find packets (or bottles) or pectin and no one has heard of it! I guess the secret is to buy a jam-thermometer instead of pectin!?
Delicious jam. I tried it as I had fresh strawberries from the farm. Just wanted to know for how long this will survive in the refrigerator? Thanks for your help.
John! Use bottled lemon juice! The pH acidity is consistent which is better when you can (jar) it up! It helps the jam be shelf stable if you water bath can your jam!

Would it work if I had the jar in a bowl of hot water
So true
How do you dry the jar before putting jam in?
@@tingFayyyI tip boiling water in them at the end and tip it straight out and they dry in seconds.
My mum used to put a metal spoon in the jar so the hot jam wouldn’t crack the jar, and it actually worked

Try using a sugar alcohol like allulose. I’d avoid maltitol tho (it can really upset your stomach) or xylitol (it’s poisonous to dogs).
I'm also wondering about the sugar. But mine is if i can use a substitute like muscovado sugar instead of the white one.
You can keep it in the fridge up to six months
