  • This GPS camera quadcopter is currently the least expensive ready to fly commercial drone with GPS and real return to home/landing capability. Find it here (international) goo.gl/6SZZMD or here on Amazon (USA) amzn.to/2KbBc3M
    Pro's
    - Currently the lowest cost RTF GPS equipped quadcopter.
    - Includes position hold, and return to landing.
    - Will automatically fly back and land at its takeoff point upon activation of the return to home switch, or automatically if the quadcopter loses signal from the transmitter such as from flying out of range, from electrical interference, or if the transmitter is turned off (but don't deliberately turn off the transmitter to test this).
    - Telemetry information available on controller includes range, altitude, heading, and remaining battery power (simple bar graph for battery power).
    - Includes 2MP still pictures, 720p HD video camera.
    - Small and safe quadcopter. Should be able to fly this most places without being hassled.
    - Pretty good flight time at about 13 minutes for the "E" version (slightly less on the "S" follow me version).
    - 150 grams weight. Does not require FAA registration.
    Cons
    - Although with very advanced features, the quadcopter also is equipped with brushed motors. You may need to replace a motor some day.
    - Does not come with needed microSD card or card reader to record and download camera's video.

    Nice little beginner, bought one for my grandson for £36 ($46) motors can stick after a few fights, so I fitted an upgrade kit which consisted off better motors with metal pinions, replaced the drive gears and importantly, replaced the plastic bearings with steel roller bearings from the kit, add a small drop of aircraft grease to moving parts,be diligent,not to much, to finish the mods off I removed the stock camera and board and fitted a combined camera and VTX ($12), He now has a reliable first FPV flyer to train on!( He Highjacks my goggles!)

    You had me at the word "Cheap". It is an interesting bird with the GPS, but with 8mm x 20mm brushed motors, the same as used in many toy grade quad (the Bayang Toys X5C for example). I suppose that since you can't do any flips with it, the motors might last longer than they would in the typical toy quad. Surprisingly good flight time, but I guess that might be due to having a 2S battery powering motors that are normally powered with a 1S battery. So, there's a lot of "overhead", which can be used (I imagine that they must be using some kind of voltage regulator circuit in the motor circuit, unless those are specially wound 8mm x 20mm motors .. in which case, finding spares - at least at present - might be a problem). Hubsan has been putting out a lot of new quads lately, so thanks for keeping us all up to speed. Oh, and yes, I did catch the 'R-rated' comment at the beginning .. but really not so bad. Cheers.

      How long would you expect these brushed motors to last? They sell replacements on eBay for $9 which isn’t to bad. But I’m still learning to fly before i take the leap into a faster brushless setup. I really like the bugs 3 mini. But need more practice with altitude hold before taking the leap.

    Hi all, i would just like to clarify on this H502E drone about the brushed motors. Heard alot of people worried about the life span of these 4 motors and i have worked out an approximate usage time before 1 or more of them fail due to them being brushed. I have owned 3 of these drones now and the average is 7 hours 45 minutes of flight time before the brushed motors begin to fail. In my opinion for a brushed motor that is very respectable. The H502E is a great all rounder for anyone wanting to get into drone/quad copter flying. This is very easy to fly with a pritty good gps system with some features found in models 3 to 4 times the price. Hubsan says the range is 200m and got all mine to nearer 300m before connection is lost, when this occurs, the drone will fly back to where you launched it. Average price for these are around £50 mark. Recommended by me before spending big money on pro drones.

      I got one last month and one motor has already failed after just a few flights - so perhaps this is a fluke. I'm waiting on some parts to install a replacement Hubsan motor. I agree that at $20 USD on ebay, it is well worth dealing with any short-lived motors on the time frame you mention as it is an amazing quad although it motors are burning out like other claim so quickly and as I experienced, perhaps Husan should listen and get some higher quality motors in them as it is not trivial to replace them as they have to be soldered to the board.

    Hello Quadcopter, I purchased this drone based on your review and I have been very happy with it until recently.. It has about 5 flights on it so far, but now when I turn on the transmitter to bind the quad, there is no binding occurring. I have done all of the recalibration methods for compass, and transmitter, but to no avail. The TX and the quad are fine it seems. Both light up normally with the exception that the TX does not bind to the quad and no longer shows any voltage for the quad battery indicator on the screen...... Might you have any tips or suggestions?? Thank you for any time you might give...

    I like this quad (I've flown it about 15 times) but the only problem I have is that it often wants to ascend on its own. It does it fairly slowly (like 0.5 - 1 m/s or something) it's fairly annoying, but sometimes it's so bad that for like 5 seconds full throttle down just makes it hold in place and not even descend (Although most of the time it's possible to descend with quick bursts of pushing down the throttle). It might be a problem with me doing it in my backyard which is in a area with a lot of houses, electricity wires on the other side of the road, ect (so maybe stuff is interfering with the signal?). I have no experience with quads at all so I have no idea why it is doing this so if anyone could reply that would be great. By the way it is not the wind because it also does this in 100% calm weather. IMPORTANT - It almost only does this in gps mode, although it basically has 11 satellites all the time.

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  7 лет назад +2

      When uncommanded movements occur with strong satellite locks, it's usually because the quadcopter is receiving spurious commands from the transmitter. Usually this is because the transmitter sticks have not been properly calibrated. Have you calibrated your sticks? If not, here's how. It's quick and easy to do. The video shows a different transmitter, but the procedure is the same for all Hubsan transmitters ruclips.net/video/HIuSeDmszXg/видео.html

      I'm not. The H502E does not have FPV nor can it connect to your phone. It records its video to a memory card inserted into the quadcopter for later downloading/viewing on your computer or phone. BUT the more expensive H502S does have FPV and you can see the video as it flies. The H502S also has follow me mode. Here is the H502S ruclips.net/video/Pj8UEq4zWQk/видео.html

    I am thinking about buying this drone so i have a question. If the quad goes out of range, will it do automatic return to home? So if i fly it too high, will it drop out of the sky or fly home?

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  8 лет назад

      Yes, automatic return to home. It will start to fly back to the takeoff point until it receives signal from the transmitter again. Once it receives the transmitter's signal, it will again obey the commands from the transmitter.

    • @loganmiller5085
      @loganmiller5085 8 лет назад

      +Quadcopter 101 so is there a drone just like this, with fpv that isn't the s model? The s model is a bit pricey currently. So I would like something great like the e model with fpv. Do you have something like that? And no more than $122 CAD

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  8 лет назад

      MrLoganMiller No, not with FPV and GPS. This is the world's cheapest with both as the video title states. There is a cheaper GPS quadcopter with a relatively good camera, but no FPV ruclips.net/video/NLj2hqVC4aA/видео.html

      I get close to 300 meters with mine. If you fly out of range, it momentarily stops as it tries to rebind with the transmitter. If unsuccessful, it then automatically starts a return to home flight. But if you want to control it, it's important to learn the following skill if you're going to be flying yours that far. It only shows up as a tiny dot in the sky at that distance ruclips.net/video/qdYTCfjUVVo/видео.html

    I bought one last August. It flew for one battery and the left back prop lost power (not dead but reduced energy). Ordered replacement motors (from china which took some time to get) and replaced it. It still had the problem. Contacted Banggood and they gave me the usual spiel about checking the props were installed properly and after two weeks referred me to Hubsan. That was over two weeks ago and after one exchange they referred it to the engineers. Still waiting to hear from them.

      Have you turned that particular propeller/motor by hand to feel for any unusual resistance in the turn (as compared to the other three)? If you do notice unusual bump or bumps in the turn, there may be dirt in your gears causing excessive torque to the motor. The dirt or sand particles can be dislodged with an old toothbrush or pin by brushing or sliding between the teeth. The bottom foot plate can be removed to gain access to the gears by removing its two screws, and then gently prying and wiggling the plate off (it's held in place by two tiny plastic clips).
      And this problem is not particular to the H502E, but is common to most toy grade quadcopters ruclips.net/video/LzzD3BPVvH0/видео.html

      Here's a new symptom. It makes a weird whinning/whirring noise when the power drops in that back left motor.
      Yes the prop turns nice and there is no sand or debris in there.

    What isn' t noted the motors are "under-powered' causing early burn out. Plus getting parts is a long wait from China in a lot of cases such as Banggood

      I just bought this drone and have only flew it inside so far, and it seems to do great. One question: Is there a power switch for the drone itself that you know of on it? When I plug the battery in the lights on the drone come on. I wasnt able to find one. Thanks!

    Hey buddy, just bought your runcam2 FPV setup, any idea if this can carry it?
    The cam is about 50 grams and there's the transmitter with credit card mount

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  8 лет назад

      No, this quadcopter is a little too small to lift a Runcam. Doing such would stress its motors, resulting in greatly reduced lifespan of the motors.

Just a warning to people make sure your micro sd card is formatted to fat32 or it won't record mine was already, but it had some stuff on it so I just re-formatted it to fat32 and it worked. So yeah. Still Hubsan is awesome and I have gotten some very good video from it.

    OK,pay attention all you pissed off privacy mavens. I hate these things so much,I came up with a definite cure for invasive quadracopter flying near your home or family. As a concerned homeowner and parent ,when my neighborhood started being invaded by these childrens toys with high speed razor blades attached,I became furious at the invasion of my privacy of dwelling. Being an avid outdoors-man,my spinning pole's reel needed to have the old line stripped ANYWAY, so I tied a rusty 1/4x20 nut on the line and started casting like a basketball bucket-dunk,flipping the line higher and higher. I changed to an equally rusty 5/16 nut, and found I could flip-cast a nut 300 feet in the air,and when falling back to earth,it became a tangled web of line in the sky !!!!!
    So far I have disabled or caught 6 of the critters.
    In my next post,I will share good recipes,and proper tenderization techniques to use. A always, we recommend the use of American made corn oil for frying.

    I just did 730m range and 90m height with fpv mod from banggood (Stock remote controller). Did I just do record or has anyone flown over 730 meters? I trusted the GPS Return to home, and after few min it came back and landed 1m from where it took off. Very good drone. I'm thinking about getting H501S as next drone, or what is your guys opinion?

    I got my Hubsan H502E last week. I was worrying that I get crashes. First thing I did was added springy landing gear. It protected the copter from the few bad falls. I'm not sure what to do at this point. The Hubsan H502E has all the GPS counts(11). It was about 40 feet in the air then it started to wobble and then the toilet bowl effect out of control, down fast. So far it happens each time I go out to fly. 5 crashes so far. Is there an firmware update I can download to fix this problem? I really like this quad-copter. Please help. Thanks.

    The only retrograde step is the lack of an on/off button.

    It's better if you don't walk around or move at all when you want to demonstrate how good the GPS lock is. Standing still relative to the background will show any drifting by the quad.
