    Another nice review and great scenery Dustin. Has anyone purchased one recently that can comment on the build quality? I came across one review that said something about nylon rather than metal bearings as well as motors that burn out quickly.

    Thanks for the video. My H502E is on it's way. I already bought a dji Phantom 4 pro. As a beginner, I like to practice flying with something cheaper. I have a Syma X5C and it neither has GPS nor altitude hold. That makes it very difficult to fly. I constantly have to throttle up & down. I was also very disappointed in it's range. I already have a Hubsan H002 nano quad and really like it. Cheaper and by far better than the nano folding arms I had.

    • @DustinDunnill
      @DustinDunnill  7 лет назад

      +snamvar The cheaper toys are great for perfecting your flying skill which I think everyone should do first before investing into larger and more expensive/possibly dangerous drones.

    I bought one last August. It flew for one battery and the left back prop lost power (not dead but reduced energy). Ordered replacement motors (from china which took some time to get) and replaced it. It still had the problem. Contacted Banggood and they gave me the usual spiel about checking the props were installed properly and after two weeks referred me to Hubsan. That was over two weeks ago and after one exchange they referred it to the engineers. Still waiting to hear from them.

    I wish we could turn GPS off and fly it manually. Maybe some mods could be done to allow GPS to be turned off, rather than requiring GPS at all times.

    • @DustinDunnill

      +markybyeah maybe it'll work with the h501s controller which has that function. I'll try it.

      +Dustin Dunnill Good video! Got a question for u about ur H501s, Have u upgraded the FW yet? I noticed my speed seems half meter per second slower when forward flying. I thought this might be something you like to test. 1.1.9 upgraded to 1.1.17

    • @markybyeah
      @markybyeah 8 лет назад

      Pullsee
      You cant take off before 6 because motors wont arm. Plus if it did, it would lock on soon as it gained altitude. It doesn't work like that

    • @tadrones8225
      @tadrones8225 8 лет назад

      +markybyeah I know that and I own other non GPS quads. New firmware does make gps lock tight, but I suspect trade off is speed with H501s.

    great review buddy...AGAIN....lol......for the money range, i think it does a great job, i see others out there with no GPS feature, with same or higher price tag, so my conclusion is that this is a good buy for fun, or novice in quads hobby.....my only worry is the brushed motors, which may mean low span in motor life....that being said, i already ordered one, hope its motors will last more than a week or two, lol......great work Dusting, keep it up

    Mine wobbles pretty bad during flight as if a prop is bad and the GPS doesn't hold position well at all. I recalibrated the motors by holding down the left stick while turning the right stick. Compass was calibrated and I have at least 10-12 sats while flying. Any ideas or suggestions? I have installed brand new props as well

  • @gregtay67
    @gregtay67 8 лет назад +2

    mine really flies 11+ to 12 minutes on average. Looks like your flight time was heavily cut down due to the wind.

    • @DustinDunnill
      @DustinDunnill  8 лет назад +1

      good to know. Could be that you've cycled your battery more also. I think the best battery capacity is achieved after around 10 cycles.

    Dustin... does the transmitter simultaneously show heading degrees, altitude and distance; or does it alternate between showing those values? Looking to get one for a friend and from the on-line manual, I get the impression it alternates showing those values on the transmitter display. Without FPV, know heading at all times is invaluable. Thanks

    Another great review. The only problem was the wind noise. It sounded, at times, like you were in a jet engine test cell. I wonder, if you placed a few layers of gauze bandage over the mike hole in your GoPro if perhaps it would act like a mike sock. Or if you moved to a corner of the park where the wind blows from behind you? The H502E definitely doesn't have nearly as good electronics as the 501S. The camera isn't 1080P. Did you calibrate the accelerometer? Alishanmao had similar results when he tested the FPV version of the 502 Desire. The bird would keep losing altitude.He gave it thumbs down. Perhaps Hubsan is getting bad component parts. ;-)

    • @DustinDunnill
      @DustinDunnill  8 лет назад

      +Don Fish Jr. (The Flying Fish) This video was prior to my "mic wind fix" (shoved a transmitter stick foam over mic) now it is much better :)
      I'd recon there will be an occasional bad batch of barometers as they are so sensitive..maybe I got one..or maybe just too much wind.

    • @MrTUBER408
      @MrTUBER408 8 лет назад

      Marvelous. I really listen carefully to what you say. You impart valuable information/knowledge. I was on the fence about the Hubsan H109Pro until I saw that series of reviews you did. I tweaked my budget for a couple of months and purchased one at a great price, under $400. I fly it in place of my Walkera 350PRO. The Walkira has a much better gimgol but I would rather risk an accident with a bird that cost me less than 1/2 what I paid for the Walkera over 2 years ago. Also the Hubsan out flies it and has a much more up to date controller. ;-D

    Hi good review! Just a noob question. So as this drone has a good camera but didnt come with a LCD system to see a live feed of the video, is there any Hubsan Android app which we can use along side during flight using 2.4GHz channel? Or we need to have a 5.8Ghz video head unit etc? What do you recommend.. Sorry as I a a bit new in this hobby and planning to buy the same Quad.

      Dustin Dunnill thanks and I saw you H507A review. I liked the craft but the only two down point I saw are the battery life and no controller with it (I prefer that over a virtual phone joystick). Having said that I really liked the H502E and even the S model. I think the S model has built in FPV. What do you say in terms of recommendation for H502S for performance and quality and should I buy that?

    Hey Dustin, related to this video and others of the same mfg or vendor, would you please consider advising us of the cross usage of controller?. My apartment is filling with quads, and controllers. Since there are very few quad companies that offer BNFs it would be great to buy a lesser featured quad, and be able to use the controller with the higher end controller. (Like I think you suggested with the MJX 600 and x601h both being flyable with the JMX x601h controller.) It'd be great to just put away the less featured controllers. I know spread spectrum can affect this, but with your great testing we might get surprised to find one mfg plant made quads for a pair of vendors that are cross compatible? Hope I didn't confuse the issue.

  • @rcgamer4524
    @rcgamer4524 8 лет назад

    Mine came today but unfortunately it's the newer version where they have replaced the bearings with a nylon/plastic piece, so I have ordered a set of bearings to replace the plastic rubbish they have installed. Which was annoying because you have to be careful anyway because of durability of these type quads with brushed motors, tear and wear and with them going cheap and replacing the bearings just increases the wear and fail time. So I'm not going to fly mine till I get the bearings and with the locktite on the screws I don't want to screw on the propellers to have to undo them again next week with the bearing installation. So about a 5 day delay until I can fly it.

      Gearbest I got 8 dollars back so it covers the cost of the bearings, other options were send it back and pay for it to come back to me. Which would cost a fortune. I'm never going to purchase a more expensive quad from them as there returns are horrific.

    When using GPS even for mapping Dilution of precision can come into play. Basically even with a large number of satellites you can have a poor reading of the coordinate. This can happen if they (satellites) are in a tight cluster. The farther apart the they are the better the coordinate calculated. It is quite possible you flew that when you had poor satellite positioning. This article will help explain it better than I can in a post.

      It was not a fair review, flying it in high gusts of wind, that really has influence on the barometer of these cheaper quads. I have this one, and do not expect the same performance of a DJI. Also he should have flown it a few times before doing a flight review, he was not even familiar with the controls. Oh now its facing me!!! that's what it does when RTH is activated. This unprofessional reviewing gets my goat. Its a very nice Quad for the price

      The 502E just as GPS no follow me and the 502s as follow me..To answer about the motors. What is the difference between a brushless motor and brushed motor?
      A Brushed Motor has a rotating set of wound wire coils(armature) which acts as an electromagnet with two poles. A mechanical rotary switch(commutator) reverses the direction of the electric current twice every cycle, to flow through the armature so that the poles of the electromagnet push and pull against the permanent magnets on the outside of the motor. As the poles of the armature electromagnet pass the poles of the permanent magnets, the commutator reverses the polarity of the armature electromagnet. During the instant of switching polarity, inertia keeps the motor going in the proper direction.
      A Brushless Motor uses a permanent magnet external rotor, three phases of driving coils, one or more devices to sense the position of the rotor, and the associated drive electronics. The coils are activated, one phase after the other, by the electronic speed controller as cued by the signals from the rotor position sensors.

      +Heath Hunter holy smokes Heath now there's an answer!

    • @DustinDunnill
      @DustinDunnill  8 лет назад +1

      +wolf11 My simplified response would be: brushed = magnet in center with friction "brushes" which may wear out sooner. Brushless = magnets on outside with no contact brushes which "should" last longer and seem to be more efficient/powerful since they can handle higher rpm.

      Reef Anglers yes. It will return to the spot when you first arm the motors so if you are in a boat, you will surely have drifted so I wouldn't use that feature.

      Yes it does, height and Distance not the speed I think, but all the rest, actually very nice for the price. But if you have the money go for the H501s it has nice FPV and brushless motors

      Pullsee I always order spare motors when I buy a brushed Quad, but never had use of them. I think if you live in a hot country and you fly multiple battery without letting the motors cool, then yes you will burn them, even a brushless wont last, then

      Dustin Dunnill found a video that showed how to bind..... long story short, turn off remote press and hold video button... while holding video button slide power to on..... works great.

    My H502E's performance is opposite to yours. The GPS Hold and RTH are great. Mine has video/ photo problems. Has focusing issues with the camera. Borrowing a quote from Forrest Gump. Toy quads are like Box of chocolates you don't know what you're going to get.
