The solo on Tornado is a masterclass both from a technical and musical standpoint. Not only is the song incredibly well written but the solo's construction is equally as masterfully put together and performed with superior class.
No way dude. That song has a great guitar solo but it also has the worst vocals on the album. I love Rust in Peace but tornado of souls is an instant skip because of how bad the vocals are on that song.

This is my first time hearing these guys although I first heard of them years ago. I grew up in a Gospel, Jazz and R&B household and this kicks serious butt! I love it.

Friedman's solos are exotic, finesse, technically excellent and precise. Mustaine's is more street, rough, but killer. The fact he plays those complex riffs while singing has always blown me away. This song will always be one of the all time great metal classics!

people who typically aren’t attuned to the genre of heavy metal usually need to take a double take at megadeth songs. I thinks it’s because Megadeth really was a project that was built on necessity . Mustaine utilized the very best of his band members and wrote songs that made them shine on the record. People call it egoism , I call it being a composer
Funny you mentioned the complexity of the song structure and virtuosity of the instruments. Metal is closely connected to classical music. Complex arrangements, layers of instrumentals and insane talent on instruments. Hell there is a whole style of guitar playing called neo-classical in metal.
The length of this song is twice as long as most songs, AN ESSENTIAL METAL CLASSIC, and just showcases THE TALENT, his songwriting ability, when it came out it was so relative to what was going on in the world 🌎

The album this is from "Rust in Peace" is a masterwork of metal. The entire album is a powerhouse. This particular song is IMO the greatest metal song of all time. "Holy Wars" is so brilliantly chaotic, intricate, and masterfully executed. And Dave Mustaine's solo towards the end of the song is the single greatest guitar solo I've ever heard in my life. Every Megadeath fan owes it to themselves to see their live performance of Symphony of Destruction in Argentina. The venue was mad and the band was straight fire feeding off of the fuel from the audience.

I've always felt like of the Big 4, Megadeth and Metallica were at the top, 2 sides of the same coin. Megadeth was thrash to the core, and Metallica was the heavier of the two. Both great in the directions they went. Metallica still has their thrash roots, but they expanded, whereas Megadeth never left those thrash roots, and are still speeding along.
The lead singer/ guitarist Dave Mustang was in Metallica in the early days and wrote some music for Metallicas first album. He was kicked out and started Megadeath. You should check out Black Sabbath the grandfather's of metal, and I would also recommend Pantera

Megadeth is #5 in my top 5 favorite bands of all time. Became obsessed with music around 6th grade. My cousin picked me up to take me to the movies and he had the Van Halen 5150 cassette playing and Dreams came on and that was it for me. In 11th grade I saw the video for Train Of Consequences on MTV of all places and again, mind blown. I bought Youthanasia, Cryptic Writing, Rust In Peace, and Countdown to Extinction on CD and Ive been listening to Megadeth on a weekly basis for about 20 years now. Good reaction video you guys.

Two song suggestions: 1) Elegy - The Guiding Light 2) Blind Guardian - Time What Is Time I know you guys did Sabaton but I think you will get more of an accurate representation of that genre with my two suggestions, from a roots perspective. They showcase that synergy of melody and speed that the style began with in Europe, before the theatrical elements became more of an element with some newer bands. Cheers!

I just saw your EVANESCENCE reaction from a couple weeks ago, CALL ME WHEN YOU'RE SOBER is a great song and video, it was supposedly inspired by her relationship with the lead singer of SEETHER.
There is so much I could comment on right here. I bought this album the day it came out, and believe me when I say I was ostracised for listening to it. It's extremely strange to me to watch people watch this song, never listening to metal before and just jive along with the rhythm and energy of it. It was pure anathema back in the day! It's like everybody's metal, but most people won't admit or accept or allow it. Why do they resist it so much! A lot of people have talked about the content and arrangement of the song but what interests me about this song is what came next. This was the first song to introduce that "squeal" sound, which a lot of bands took a lot further. (Machine Head, as a prime example). Also you paused in my favourite part, but you went back and watched it again so I'm ok :D Nobody gets that classical part right the way Marty Friedman did it.

This is the pinnacle of thrash metal!! This whole album is a guitar clinic! Literally the absolute razor sharp edge of thrash metal.
The song is a masterpiece some musicians from other genres might not like it. But they should very well respect it.
I simply love this. The best part is that Dave basically plays lead riffs while singing. Not many lead singers do that so that earns my respect.

The whole album is considered one of top metal albums all time. The whole album there isn’t one skip, now these days you get 2-3 good songs on an album.
It's funny we have to go back in time 30+ years to find "next level". I used to play this song with my band back when this song originally came out.
I just saw your EVANESCENCE reaction from a couple weeks ago, CALL ME WHEN YOU'RE SOBER is a great song and video, it was supposedly inspired by her relationship with the lead singer of SEETHER.
Dave was kicked out of Metallica for drug addiction, started his own band
Dave was into skydiving. You saw him in the video jumping. He wrote a song called high speed dirt about it too.
There is so much I could comment on right here.
I bought this album the day it came out, and believe me when I say I was ostracised for listening to it. It's extremely strange to me to watch people watch this song, never listening to metal before and just jive along with the rhythm and energy of it. It was pure anathema back in the day!
It's like everybody's metal, but most people won't admit or accept or allow it. Why do they resist it so much!
A lot of people have talked about the content and arrangement of the song but what interests me about this song is what came next. This was the first song to introduce that "squeal" sound, which a lot of bands took a lot further. (Machine Head, as a prime example).
Also you paused in my favourite part, but you went back and watched it again so I'm ok :D
Nobody gets that classical part right the way Marty Friedman did it.
