so rarely do you see a house of such beauty and even rarer the oppotunity to stay in that house. Thank you for making this available for others to experience it
I was fortunate to work for Wyle in the late 90's. No exaggeration when I say it was the best company I had the opportunity to work for. What a treat to see where Mr Wyle spent his time away from the hustle & bustle. ❤
One of my favorite films you've done so far. Not only paying tribute to the home itself, but diving into the history of the owner and his family. Thank you!
It has this awesome mix of Japanese and mid-century that brings out this rustic element common to both styles. The living room looks very much like a modern, 21st century take on midcentury with its scale, the amount of glass and volumes that you rarely find in authentic 1960s architecture. The owner is deservingly proud of where he lives.
The house is very beautiful, internally as well as in relation to its environment. But the story behind it, how it came about, the caring of the original patriarch and the hope that this care and thoughtfulness can be passed on, turns it into a complex and delightfully nuanced treasure. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful architecture with an incredible setting . The ranch with autumnal foliage and surrounding hills and mountains is stunning . Must be such a peaceful experience riding a horse 🐎 around the land and seeing such beauty . The house and furniture are perfect for the setting . You can definitely see the Japanese and Asian influence . The stones quarried from the site makes the house and ties everything together perfectly . I'm in awe .
This was a poignant video, thank you. I appreciate the clear lines of the house & how it dovetails with Mother Nature & not in grandiose opposition. Most of all: I appreciated how this gentleman spoke of his parents and family friends, how the house came into itself & his hopes for his family -- now, and in the future. We need more of this grace.
What a wonderful legacy to pass down! When the time comes, let's hope that someone in the family will step up and love and cherish this work of art and maintain it for many years to come.
Such a beautiful home, you can almost sense the great memories the house has made, sort of like a peace to the structure. Wildest thing as well. I heard North Fork and realized I'm local! wonderful. Great video and even greater home.
Spectacular house! Distinctive and unique design. Probably my favorite home I've seen on this channel. The fact that it was designed by an architectural firm that specialized in commercial buildings is apparent in the extra large volume of the great room, which was highly unusual in 1961 but is now almost a requirement for ultra high-end contemporary homes in places like Beverly Hills.
What a sense of PLACE! It exudes harmony from the beautiful way the structure is exposed and how the building sits so perfectly in the landscape. One can almost hear all the past conversations in the "conversation pit"
Upon a deep dive into this channel, I immediately unsubscribed from the AD channel. I just love the tone and pace of your pieces so much. Why not subscribe to both? I'm just not satisfied with their content anymore in that comparative light. I could watch each of your pieces again and again. Keep up the great work. 🥰
Maybe the debt it owed to the One who created the surroundings in which the house is privileged to be a part of. Without which this structure would be cold and lifeless. As would we all be.
This is a beautiful designed house. However, the score in the production is kinda eerie. As a man with property and in my mid 40s with a big family, I hope that my family, future grandkids will all be able to share and enjoy. I felt the man’s hesitancy on what some of the shareholders will do to the property. So many people sell out for short gains.
I think the house is left to Stephen Wyle and his sister and the land is gifted to 30 other relatives. I hope none of the people sell off their share of the ranch to outsiders - perhaps the family members should get the first refusal. It would be a shame if some grubby, vulgarian billionaire bought it and tore down the house to build a gigantic billionaire's lair.
Can someone explain the part where he says that he gifted shares of the ranch to his 30 some odd family members? Is he saying that he created a contract in which the 30 or so people all owned part of the ranch and could decide to "cash out" if they wanted to. Does the person with the highest share get to live there? I have never heard of such a thing and don't even know where to begin in googleing it.
I think the house belongs to the son, Stephen Wyle but the land is given to members of the family as shares. I am sure the property is held in a trust with certain stipulations regarding if/when someone wants to "cash out" in the future.
now listen here if this glass house get destroyed by tornadoes you need a glass replacement for the Glass-house and it's not a greenhouse it's glass house.

I am blown away. The energy of that place can be felt through the screen.

What a great attitude to have for such a timeless property.
A whole house full of Maloof furniture. Amazing.
I know I say it every time, but goddamn this is one of the most beautiful homes you’ve featured!
The Maloof furniture is exquisite
The original furniture by Sam Maloof and the rich family history adds a layer of charm to this architectural gem 🧡
Magical , all the natural colours , the light the stone and timber , Id love to head there for the experience .
Another amazing installment! Thank you for featuring the Central Valley we have a good amount of Mid Century Architecture here!
Beautiful craftsmaship. The house is like an autumn painting.

The shining?
Modern House and big Area ❤
Incredible.
Holy Moses, can a house be more beautiful, stately, warm and inviting all at the same time?

Would love buy the Diamond Tail Ranch, the Reservation Ranch and the Steeley Mountain Ranch some day.
Beautiful legacy
Very cool.
Twin Peaks (cult TV series) meets Scandinavia. Love it. 😊
fabulous !!
BEAUTIFUL ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ HOUSE 🙏🏾
Dad was a smart guy. He distributed shares of the ranch to the family members that way it's likely to stay in the family for perpetuity.
Very nice modern and cozy house in a fantastic natural environment.

We owe such a debt to those who commissioned and created work such as this.
Maybe the debt it owed to the One who created the surroundings in which the house is privileged to be a part of. Without which this structure would be cold and lifeless. As would we all be.
pure.
So cool
это потрясающая история
Stunning home, and I love the lack of pretense explaining how the property came to be
Lucky man!
Чудесный дом. Шикарные виды из окон. Прошло больше 60 лет, а здание не утеряло привлекательности и актуальности.
Not the typical 60’s low ceilings
Such an amazing property and blending of styles. Are those early Sam Maloof pieces (Dining table, benches, pedestal table and chairs)?
The Japanese art of the simple beauty
Beautiful but spooky.
It’s beautiful!! I love these mid century homes and the furniture is awesome!

I like the design. It looks like an Albatross though.
wow what a house. not sure his father was smart about gifting 30 people some of the ranch unless it didn't include the house.
I think the house is left to Stephen Wyle and his sister and the land is gifted to 30 other relatives. I hope none of the people sell off their share of the ranch to outsiders - perhaps the family members should get the first refusal. 😮😮😮 nooooo
Anybody know who makes those sofas?
❤

I don't know either but you could try looking up "limited partnership"
Sounds like a potentially massive headache, especially as it appreciates in value
may have left in a trust?
I think the house belongs to the son, Stephen Wyle but the land is given to members of the family as shares. I am sure the property is held in a trust with certain stipulations regarding if/when someone wants to "cash out" in the future.
Now, that you've... don't start to forget when you see and ✨'s
No curtains to hold back the cold during winter? Place must be ice cold or yourself heating bill is astronomical.
Very dark, but interesting design. I wouldn’t want to live in such a dark interior.
Dark? It is full of light from all the huge windows!
What, no 911?
now listen here if this glass house get destroyed by tornadoes you need a glass replacement for the Glass-house and it's not a greenhouse it's glass house.
This house is gooorgeous. Did anyone else get kinda patriarchal/aristocratic vibes though?
Very aristocratic, but in the best way. Great house and gentleman.
No, but a certain gentleman-farmer-rancher type vibes.
@@jamesallison4875 there are great ways to be aristocratic!?
dr. fauci said 'oriental' which may still be permissible for furniture and rugs but 'asian' seems more appropriate for the style of the house.
Didn't love this house. I usually love open space houses. But this one had a weird vibe.
