- Paris - the city of lights, of love, and of luxury. Over 30 million tourists touch down in the French capital each year, but only a select few see the high-octane opulence that Paris can offer.
CNBC’s ‘First Class’ reveals the city as only the super-rich get to experience it, from the most expensive suites and chateaus to private yachts, fine dining and shopping.

Casually mentioning the French revolution while charging $60,000 a night for a hotel...
qu ils mangent des brioches.
Current societies seem very complacent in relation to the spending of politicians and elites. Unbelievable.
meanwhile parisians are being forced out of the city bcs they can't afford to live in their own city anymore
@@lm_b5080 et que faudrait-il faire, obliger les gens aisés de partir, de faire baisser les prix par décrets. nous sommes dans un pays de libertés, les prix libres, l' offre et la demande....c' est partout comme ça...
The title of this video is bizarre. It's about where the ultra wealthy stay in Paris, at no point does it mention how they travel.
where people stay is part of their travel plans.
Probably by jets
@@Smithpolly ya, WHERE not HOW
Yep. I was expecting some ultra rich metro cars. But instead we get overprieced buildings and lots of mispronounced names.
Place de la Concorde infront of hotel Crillion is where they decapitated the rich during the revolution
No "the rich".
Current societies seem very complacent in relation to the spending of politicians and elites. Unbelievable.
Not the rich, the aristocrats. The French revolution was a "bourgeois", liberal revolution.
@@lannes2068 Not only the aristocrats, far from that ! Between 1792 and 1796, 2918 people were beheaded in Paris. Out of the 2918 people, 305 were aristocrats. The rest and major part was commoners (farmers, artisans, servants, soldiers, shop owners, lawyers, employees, physicians, judges, etc : many of them being middle class and bourgeois).
Samaritaine is not where the ultra rich go lol just an ad…
The real luxury of paris is the architecture…the history…the culture…the beauty of the everyday…my favourite city of all
Not the people. They hate everyone.
Paris is overrated. Because lot of people come France, come to Paris and that's it.
@@Fromtheforgottengardens I'm not parisian at all but i can tell you that Paris is absolutly not overrated !
It's not a reason all visitors come to Paris and not in any provincial areas for saying Paris is overrated....
@@lesamisdelacuisineprovenca9534Only 1/3 of the foreign tourists go to Paris. That's still a lot though.
No matter how much money I had, or what corporation was footing the bill, I could never spend $44K a night for a hotel. No one's service on Earth is worth that.
Agree 👍🏽 Seems to me if someone is Wealthy enuf to spend that amount of Money to Stay in a Yucky Hotel room 🤮 they’d be Better Off Purchasing a flat or a quaint little Cottage in Paris.
$44K to them may be like $40 to you. I, too, can't wrap my mind around this, but not being rich limits my imagination.
@@bc41exactly 44k is pocket change when you are wealthy with a net worth over 100 million 😜
I absolutely agree with you; it is the zenith of bad taste of flaunting money!
I always say that as well, but who knows? If we got billions of dollars, we may not care.
I agree and disagree with this video because there are rich people who buy these luxury brands like Gucci, Prada etc. what the fashion market is doing right now is preaching to the quiet luxury so that we may shift to a trend. Quiet luxury is a trend guys!!! It's nothing new 😂. If you want to wear loud luxury go for it be yourself. It's all about preference
Imagine to get a suite for $50K and then you stand in queues for hours to visit the Louvre, Versailles and Eiffel tower.
They don't queue, they get private access and private visits. You can book a private visi8t of the louvres certain days of the year or certain hours of the day. The louvres offers private visits every tuesday which is the day it is closed and 2 nights a week. This is only for three groups of 5 people maximum so only 15 people, and this costs 25 000 euros per group. (5000 euros per person), but it is only on recommendation which means you can't just pick up the phone or go online and make a reservation, you need to known someone they kn ow or be very trustworthy, which means if you are Beyonce you will get it, but if you are a nobody you won't.
If i am that moneyed, I wouldn't stay in those ridiculously priced hotels. Id buy a penthouse with a 360 degree view of the city. Nuff said.
And what about when you travelled?
they own that penthouse and stay on those hotels
Well not every rich person wants to own a penthouse I every major city. If I only plan to travel to Paris every few years at most, why would I buy a home I'm never gonna live in? This is just for ppl that are traveling, not ppl intending to live their at all.
it's hard to get a 360 view, given that most buildings are old and short. and there is a height limit for new buildings (max 12 stories i think)
So happy that you brought back this series. Dont discontinue please. 💯
Basically these people are maestros in upselling otherwise mediocre art...
Luxury is where the local dine, shop and enjoys
It would've been nice if CNBC would've gotten someone who could pronounce French well enough when talking about Paris for 14 minutes.
Exactly. The presenter's french pronunciation is irritating.
Their domestic audience won't know any better.
I agree, but (she tried) not everyone is as talented as you mate :) Dur dur d'etre doué ;)
8:07 the way she said morels even
i was amazed at how well each of these french people spoke english! that's better english i've heard from any french than in all my years in paris. i guess that's why they work in the industry
Thank you for sharing some if the beautiful stays there in Paris.
Doesn't beat being able to spend time at the beach.
'We don't need Paris.' - Dagny, northern Norway. So true...
1:34 of course they are in Paris for a trip in Paris 😂
In the modern times, Château de Villette has been the sanctuary for many celebrities like John Travolta, Tom Cruise and Lenny Kravitz. It has been a source of inspiration for Dan Brown who wrote the “Da Vinci Code” while staying at the Chateau and was later used a filming location for its adaptation. How did a hack like Dan Brown afford to stay there before writing his trash best-seller?
Outdated. You’re welcome!
Sooo this was an ad for LVMH?
My wife and I toured that first chateau for our wedding.
Is there an problem with this sommelier's hand (8:50) or is that the camera angle?
I noticed it too, I think it's physical conditioning from his job ,holding bottles in a certain way
His hand looks paralysed, perhaps from a birth defect or an accident. What a lovely gentleman he is!
Eric Beamjard lost the usage of his right arm in a motorcycle accident when he was 18
Beautiful place
I am intrigued with the pool at Chateau de Villette. I would love a deep dive on when the pool was constructed, by whom, and with what technologies... Is that information available somewhere in vlog format?
search up "hidden swimming pool". i recently saw a house-selling vid n that house had such a pool too! it's an interior design thing
It does look interesting! It must be a more modern addition, at some point in the video a renovation was mentioned
why dont you just make it clear that “$5 1:58 0 000 a night is NOT just a room, but the presidential suite?
the night only costs $1-2000/ night
This kind of frivolous consumption seems anachronistic. With global debt the way it is I don't see how this kind of spending is sustainable. I suppose as long as there is a greater fool still willing to shell out the money these venues will be sustained.
You are right! Whenever I spend, I always consider how my rather limited resources should be allocated. Why spend $ 200 for a meal when I can save to pay almost all my electric bill for the month? It is all about setting life's priorities. I would much rather allocate funds to help an elderly friend pay their rent than visit Disneyland or take an expensive trip anytime.
On My "Bucket List"...!!LOL
Great job …..loved it! Subscribed…..
All dat MoMcoco bags sssssoooooooo gorgeous
Surprisingly a small amount of comments and likes
Ppl with lower income tend to flip flop with their feelings towards the ultra rich. One second it's finding them interesting and obsessing over everything they do. Sometimes using them as inspiration for their ambitions in trying to climb the ladder of success.
And when the economy isn't in a great place, ppl tend to complain about how 'unrelatable' they are and how they are stupid for how they spend their money. It's funny bc rich ppl haven't really changed their behavior over the years, they've always been known to enjoy luxury. If you can afford it why not? It's only lower income ppl that go back and forth in thinking this behavior is either unrelatable or inspirational.
Dont be a pain in the ass in restaurants. Dont ask where everything is from, how everything is cocked and with this and that on the side. No other nation on earth is that annoying in restaurants.
I think the Galarie Lafayette is for everyday people, not for the rich, have you seen all the tourist? Pre- pandemic, Chinese tourist bring a shopping list while waiting outside the Luis vutton boutique.
I think the rich shopper are at St German, and each of the fashion houses own boutiques by appointment only 😊
Avenue Montaigne
Yes. Lafayette is for the common people who want to feel like rich people. The service is okay. The truly rich don’t go there.
I met Mr. Bernard Arnault many years ago after he purchased Louis Vuitton. Without doubt, Mr. Arnault is the most elegant, classy and dignified gentleman I have ever met. We shared a few moments sharing stories. I asked him when visiting Paris; Isn't it wonderful for you to see lines of eager, potential customers lined outside the shops, cordoned by velvet ropes, waiting to give you money? He smiled and replied, I am most fortunate!
Honestly this place makes me feel like I don't belong there even if I had the money. It comes off snobby and elite instead of warm and welcoming like Japan.
I loved the part in the video where they showed how the ultra wealthy travel in Paris.
I love Paris
Title should be: "How to spend excessively in Paris".
There are many Paris, like NY, London or Barcelona. The take is not so rich when tell about Galleries Lafayette and Samaritaine, the three hotels are quite luxurious, but anyone can go for a coffee if it pleases. There are some secrets in Paris that we must be open to see, beyond the touristic points and the price of somethings, yeah you can spend quite some millions of dollars PER WEEKEND IN Paris, London and NY. But you may have lots of fun if you’re ready to see and feel that way “blaze” of life and find Hemingway’s steps and other priceless treasures. Bonne jorne!
@sergiosevero9551 Yes but it is Bonne journée
I could be wrong but i believe in Franklin by Apple TV+ Chateau de Villette was used as Benjamin Franklin's residence offered by Monsieur de Chaumont in Passy.
Would be great to know the production process of this! How long did it take to shoot and edit? And what cameras did you use?
C'est vrai. Il y a beaucoup à faire ici. C'est fantastique. J'espère revenir bientôt 💖
The Airbnb next door is $40 a night and offers better luxury
said no one lol
Thanks for making a video about me.
i did that travel in bed under air conditioner by drinking fresh plum campote. 3 stars michlen 😴
Most of the customers are thieves and hustlers including the celebrities ; so don't be so snobbish .There's a lot of unaccounted wealth here like in Switzerland.
TOTALLY AGREE
The cost for the $50,000 a night could be split up for the barely wealthy... get ten people in there a night and it's only $5,000 😂
I can see instagramers doing that

The Champs Elyeese no longer is lined with designer boutiques. Its quite rubbishy these days.
Name dropping is soo corny
It's gorgeous. It doesn't compare to what Disney can offer.
I could stay only a few days 🤣🤣🤣
Even if I had the means, I would not choose to reward people who contribute so little to society. There is something obscene about people who overprice luxury
Always remember, a fool and his money are soon parted! I always seek quality and value within reason. For me, I prefer hamburger, spaghetti, or simple salad over a fancy meal anytime!
No matter how you look at it
Hotels are disgusting
Just thinking about the about of people visiting
PARIS POUR LES HAPPY FEW !

I am so shocked by the interior deco. It did not give synergy, and it felt basic. The furniture might be expensive but they look cheap.
you missed the best hotel in paris Le Muerice
Such a beautiful façade. Not many people know that this country is going to hell... Especially the people that can afford this luxury, the horrors are hidden from them.
Excusez-moi
I clicked on this by mistake, I hope I will not be charged.
$50 Grand is already at least 5 more trips somewhere😁😁🙄

what time is checkout?
From the elliptical room to the octagonal salon....someone is trying a little too hard...
$270,000...is that all? 🤣
May not include the tip...

i qualified for a 25% discount on my electric bill due to lack of income.
6:00 Engineering ....
The places for the ultra rich is only a hype. I won't go to Paris to eat haute cuisine or sleep in soft cusions. I would go to Paris to see the place, the outside ambience. All the luxuries that are sold can be found anywhere else in the world where there is tourism and whatnot. But you cannot see the grand view of the real Eiffel Tower anywhere else, and that's what adventurers go to see, not some overblended milk with a touch of asparagus.
Is this meant to contribute to public discourse by highlighting extreme inequality that a night at a hotel is beyond the annual, or lifetime earnings, of most people in the world depending where youre at. Id love to know what countries guests are from and the GINI coefficient to understand where the Ultra Wealthy of Paris come from and whether they made their money through contribution, luck, or grift.

I love the French invented Haute Couteur, despite most of these cheesy ass rooms looking like your grandmas house on steroids. Same deal with Michellin
they can take the paris bus , no one will attack them. there are teen rich kids that take the bus and the subway
I oerfer Disney hotel
Why? Mickey Mouse is a thief with no morals at all! Why frequent establishments or companies that don't embrace your core values?
What I learned is that I want to be a celebrity. You have all that money to spend without the responsibility of leading a country.
Dead hand wtf
Chateau dete is definitely haunted 😂
No place is worth $60,000 per night. Are they nuts???
Close your eyes, wake up, 50k is gone. Waste of money!
You call that a yacht 😂
If it's electric powered it is not a yacht, it is a large dingy powered by batteries. No thanks.

Never visit or frequent Disney. Crappy company with zero family values.
@RobustArid379 You mean Disneyworld? Get up to speed. Eurodisney is at Marne la Vallee a short RER ride from downtown Paris.
Honey, it’s the City of Light, not Lights. It refers to the city’s early and broad electrification.
In french, we say "La cité des lumières" so it's city of lights if you want to do a traduction. And it refers to the importance of Paris in "le siècle des lumières" or "Age of Enlightenment" in english.
Mea culpa it also refers to the electrification and public lighting of the city.
I've been to Paris just before the pandemic. Food: it looks beautiful but tastes bland; cheap instant noodles taste much better. There are numerous high-end fashion shops with luxury items like a 1000-euro iPhone case, a 200,000-euro watch, etc. Somewhat similar to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. I did not buy anything there except some macarons. Instead, I bought tech ETFs and later Nvidia stocks. Those luxury hotels don't appeal to me, even though I can afford them. Airbnb is much better.
No one should ve allow to watch first class show
I agree. It is a waste of money.
Those democrats like hunter seem to love the place . I don't know . Maybe they have a special discount of something .
