Full Jungle Cabin Build in 28 minutes

- I documented the build process of my cabin in Costa Rica from beginning to end. We built the whole thing from bare land to finished house in three and a half months. I have never built a house before but I had a team of builders who helped me bring this concept to life. I love working with my hands so despite, or more like because, this was a lot of hard work, it was so so rewarding.
If you like the cabin and want the design plans, those can be purchased here. It could save you many many hours of design and thousands on an architect.

My two different builds are up on Airbnb. Save them for your next trip down to Costa Rica:

This build is a dream. Its modern style, natural elements, the glass, and place in the jungle looking over the canopy to the ocean. Well done to everyone involved. You really accomplished something special.
As an architect who currently building my apartment from scratch. iam amazed by the amount of creativity, effort and dedication u had for this project !
I am a big lover of cabin design and i have to say that yours….. damn man… such a cool one !!!
Very minimalist with a nice colors/materialts panel, you get the best communication with the nature and that make it perfect 🤩 😊
Such a great job man, i really mean it 😊
I love the video! From the fact that you go out of your way to thank every worker involved, to seeing that you actually was personally involved in every aspect of the build! Very inspiring! Thank you!
Yeah. I was delighted by that too. I just finished rebuilding an old wooden cabin solo and I have so much respect for this guy and his team!
I am a long- time builder in N. California. Conventional framing, ICF block, steel buildings ect. I absolutely loved this video! The cabin & design itself, watching you & you guys bust your ass. I am 60 now & you’ve inspired me to find another challenging project & start it. Thanks Tom
Yes! I love that. It was so fulfilling
Did u finish ur project?
I am in my 30s living in eastern asia with absolutely zero desire to build a cabin in the woods, but i loved watching this video. The directions in the beginning and end, purpose and meaning driven narrative, and calm editing was delightful to watch. Thanks for creating such a enjoyable clip!
Thank you :) that's a really nice thing to say. I too have watched countless videos of people building things, like a cabin in the woods of Alaska, something I would never do, and just find it really relaxing and interesting to watch
Pick and choose your projects-i’d rather hire people that are innately talented at building homes who enjoy building them, and I, spend my time marketing businesses since I enjoy building campaigns.
@@SashaJuliardD When I watched this I kept thinking wow this is so cool! Kudos to you and your team this is awesome!
To be honest i didn't wanted to video to end . Great job done . Filming to building to narrating . I'm also a diy lover . And i very very enjoyed the full build . I wanted to build a tiny house since for ever . But the dream faded with time . And watching your video kinda reignited that fire inside me . Am living currently in algeria . And summer is on the door and this summer . I will be starting the build i assure you 😂 . Thanks a lot
Glad to hear it! Go for it!
Congratulations man! And kudos to those men who helped you bring this project to life, it's hard to find trustworthy and hardworking men who will stick to you up to the last day of the project!
3.5 months!! Incredible, man. Hats-off to the crew, and their work ethic.
it’s not a complex project
Not only is the build almost perfection, but the fact that you liked your crew and everything was so smooth, makes this project even more inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
No exhaust for the stove or bathroom. It's gonna smell in there...
It is so refreshing to see someone do an open concept build like this with some actual color. Most houses like this are just slightly different shades of gray and beige.
You've done an incredible job, especially tackling construction in an unfamiliar place. It's clear you've put your heart and soul into it. May your time in the cabin be filled with unforgettable moments. Watching your journey has ignited a dream of mine to own a cozy cabin someday. Thanks for the inspiration!
This is ridiculously insane, that location, my jaw literally dropped seeing the final results.
What an incredible home! It's all you ever need, and that view is breathtaking
Tropical rain is quite strong and wind can blow in a lot of rain from the side. Since the front wall is quite high, I think it would have been better to extend the roof way more to the front to prevent rain hitting the glass windows at the front bottom. It's also a bit difficult to make everything waterproof since those windows need tiny gaps everywhere. Maybe difficult to maintain this structure in this kind of weather, but it looks pretty cool.
I too love this build, but was wondering about the waterproofing -
Incredible build. I love cabin style homes. My girlfriend is Costa Rican lives in San Jose and i commuete back & from States every 2 1/2 months. I plan on moving there late next year. You have certainly inspired me.
I love how you included the times you got that extra push of inspiration from your beautiful surroundings. Those really are the moments that keep us going when doing builds. Your home is stunning. Well done.
You think exactly like me
Wishing you moments of awe and wonder as you explore the vast tapestry of nature's wonders, each discovery a reminder of the boundless beauty and diversity that surrounds us
Amazing Sasha what a journey and inspiration! Cement is an additive of concrete. You refer to cement a few times in the video however it’s actually concrete you are pouring. Cement is like the flour when you bake a cake, it’s an additive. When you mix cement, aggregate, lime and water it then becomes concrete.
The house looks amazing! Thank you for sharing your experience with us!
Beautifully designed and skillfully crafted. So. Much. Hard. Work. Loved seeing people working together for this stellar result.
Brilliant job. Great video. As a self builder myself, I take my hat off to you with your documenting and editing skills. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Incredible job , especially in light of the fact that this was your first time building a home .
Very well done ! 👍👍👍
I've watched this video three times now, just. I accidentally bumped into this video and I don't usually watch this type on content but Im so glad I watched. This video calms me down so well. I've tried to find similar building videos, where the information output, sound and overall rythm would be similar and give me a same calming effect but I've not found another yet. So I will be back!
Awww thank you!! I am really glad that you enjoyed it.
hahaaa!!
I have done the same, I felt perhaps I needed therapy so I am grateful for your admission!
Having renovated 3 homes, watching someone with a great team create a beautiful space feels as satisfying as if it were my place.
Sublime.
Congratulations! You obviously did your homework and had planned ahead for every stage of construction. We are currently in the process creating a one bedroom bungalow on a tiny island in the West Indies. We had to build with all wood as the cost of transportation there would have been prohibitive to use concrete and steel. Your building time was amazingly fast, because we are building ourselves (and we work), along with two guys, it’s now two years! Thanks for the inspiration!
I've been thinking about this all weekend and I have to admit it looks great and the price is great but there are a ton of issues with this build from a safety and engineering point of view. The local building codes must be very lax to allow this.
1. The entire envelope is missing a vapor barrier.
2. No insulation in the walls.
3. It's a fire hazard - aluminum wiring is illegal for a reason - it expands and contracts to the point it wiggles itself free from connection points. The wood siding is flammable and since the walls are hollow, they will feed the wood fire. The whole thing is a tinder box with cheap wiring. What's more is the electrical panel is beside THE ONLY WAY TO ESCAPE. If the panel catches fire and you're in the loft, your stair is over the fire and you need to jump, but the door out is also next to the panel and the only other door is the patio... man this a death trap.
4. No AC - when combined with the lack of insulation and vapor barrier, that means that this place will have constant moisture and humidity issues which could lead to mold growth.
5. Single pane uninsulated, unsealed windows. Drafty and will probably result in dew formation on the windows in the early morning plus allows for bugs and stuff to get in.
6. The upper level windows don't open, so all the hot humid air rises up and stays there with no way to vent out up there. Does that ceiling fan help enough?
7. No blinds or shades on a west facing window. So again heat and humid at sunset with no way to vent except the level 1 windows.
8. No exhaust vent at the stove. This is a code violation in many areas. Does the bathroom have a ceiling fan? Cooking and pooping smells might be an issue.
9. No guardrails at the deck. Looks sick but dangerous.
10. Does the roof leak yet? You have unsealed screws penetrating the sheet metal but you don't have a waterproofing barrier. I'd recommend you atleast get up there and seal every single screw point.
11. Thermal bridging everywhere - expecially the window frames.
This is more of a tent/ shed than a house by modern safety and engineering standards imo. While impressive, there will be serious issues in 5-10 years, if it doesn't burn down first.
i fucking laughed reading this, thanks for posting. Noticed the no guard rails.
Wow! You must be such a positive and supportive person to have around.
Tent? Have you lost your mind?
It is a wonder the world isn't burning to a cinder given the millions of "tents" in Africa, SE Asia, South America, the Pacific islands and so on.
No aircon...oh dear...
Hey There! I am glad you spent so long thinking about my cabin :) Some of your points are fair tho an I will integrate for the next time.
As for the vapor barrier that was something that every single builder here never recommended so that isn't a thing here for this climate.
The wood, air then concrete board is enough insulation and the heat transfer of the walls isn't an issue. Walls never heat up as the wood on the outside is a really good barrier.
The aluminum wiring is just the one that brings the power from the meter to the breaker. I guess there is aluminum wiring in the breaker but not running through the house.
4. There is an AC, I didn't film it but there is a 18,000 but AC upstairs.
5.You are right about the single pane. There is dew on the outside windows in the morning. Double pane glass here is hard to come by and very very expensive. I can live with the morning dew.
6. With the Ac and the fan it stays comfortable
7. I installed blinds on the downstairs west facing windows since the construction. It was a problem but solved now.
8. This is true, no exhaust. Luckily it is a loft so it all rises to the top while cooking. But def a potential issue.
9. No guard rails. You are right it's a bit sketchy but no kids are allowed there.
10. roof isn't leaking yet. I was just there and rainy season is in full force. Rain is staying out.
11. fair point, the thermal bridging with the black metal is an issue. Ac keeps up but not the most efficient.
@@nataliefenelon4796 one sec while i look for a fuck to give, ok back and i didnt find any
Yeah thats full of knowledge there, i mind this when i becoming an engineer in future
I got impressed by the structure of the house with iron beams, that's reliable. I don't feel safe when I see tiny houses built only with wooden beams in areas where landslides could occur. Gorgeous! Congratulations
No other words to describe this built.... Just brilliant. The environment, location and the view... Wow factor. Is a place for healing..... Thanks for sharing.
Great video guy and the fact you’re selling your plans pretty cheap is cool. I’m too old and broke to do anything close to this but it really lifts my spirit to see young men hitting it hard and doing good quality work. Keep that up and make the world a better place.
You and the builders did a great job man! It looks great and beautiful location. Relax and enjoy
This beautiful project is a huge inspiration. As a birdwatcher that never moved from Europe this video showed me a dream location and simple but perfect architecture
I need an hour long tour of the cabin and area and views. This place is absolutely amazing. So cool.
I just filmed one! I am going to put together a video here in the next few weeks
@@SashaJuliardD Hell yeah
A house with lot of efforts and hardwork, really one of the best houses ever build bro, huge respect for your hard work
Loved your design. I’m doing very similar to yours in Puerto Viejo, but with a few changes. I put the full bathroom upstairs in the bedroom as no one wants to climb down those loft stairs at night while dying for a pee! I added a half bath downstairs, plus a small plunge pool with outdoor shower. Hopefully my cabins Wil be built by the end of the year. Thanks for the inspiration!
This build blew my mind. I love the placement of the cabin, the modernist yet connected to nature approach. The team that you built it with really put a smile on my face and is really what drove me to subscribe. They seemed like a knowledgable crew that knew how to get the absoulte best out of limited supplies and not rip you off in the process, also the thought that you put into the sourcing and helping build this project really made sense. Drives me to make something like this in the future
Thank you!
Your cabin is a work of art, and I know you are going to have many years of enjoyment in it. Just don't walk off that deck when you're communing with Grandmother.
Great job well done Love how it turned out and congratulations to you and your amazing friends!
👍👌✌
OHMYGOSH!! The Team was perfectly magnificent!
Lovely video! I enjoyed your explanations so much and really appreciated that you took out the annoying sound of the machines! As a Gen Z who lives in a big city in Europe who's probably not going to be able to afford buying or building a house anytime soon, it felt therapeutic to watch you video 🫶
Camera work and editing 10/10 🔥
Sasha - breathtaking! As a maker myself, this took my breath away. Spectacular design and bullet-proof construction. Just amazing and inspiring.
Wow I was expecting some sort of rickity treehouse but short of a landslide, this isn’t going anywhere. Beautiful work! Love to see others making their dreams come true.
I love the stack of old tyres for painting station. Wow, what an amazing progression to document! And what a view.I hope you love your new home ❤
Oh my goodness! Your home is absolutely beautiful!!! And what’s even better is the fact that it fits in perfectly with that gorgeous landscape! I really love it! Good luck in your beautiful new home!
Thank you :)
Yes, the cabin looks amazing in the landscape. I have a beautiful landscape to work with for my cabin build and im worried about uglying it up.
I bet you look back on this when you're an old man and feel proud of yourself! What an amazing journey and so much hard work. Well done!
Awesome work on this, was such an inspirational video.
damn guess this popped in ur recommended as welll
I would never expect you here lol
If there is a video of this video daymm
That's incredible! Building a cabin from the ground up in just three and a half months is a huge accomplishment. It must be so rewarding to see your vision come to life, especially with the hands-on experience. Kudos to you and your team for making it happen! 🏡🌿💪
Thank you!
Wow! STUNNING..CONGRATULATIONS. 🎉 What an achievement..the cabin and video. You are so talented..and what a super team in Costa Rica. ❤ Thx for sharing.
Such a great crew you guys are. I really like the masculine but friendly energy of the costa rican workers. Cool!
WOW! You're a hidden gem, and I'd love to see your youtube channel grow. Cheers from the UK and croatia.
Thanks! I got a house your video coming up soon 🤙
I love the design and work dedication you guys put into building this lovely house 👏🏼 I think you need to add an outdoor hot tub or small pool looking towards the ocean, would be nice to enjoy a swim / dip while surrounded by nature, good luck to you ☺️
Really peaceful. I like the lightness, relaxation and peace in your life. ❤️❤️ 20:00
3 & 1/2 months is not bad for it being so far out there. I am in the process of doing my first home build in a more rural area of the US but not too bad. I initially thought I could do it by myself...well thankfully I budgeted for help because I needed it right away, haha. I have learned a little which was one of the main goals, to learn a new skill and have fun doing it but it is a lot of work. I am 5"4 female. I am so excited to do each step of the process. You cabin looks beautiful! Love it! Thanks for sharing
This is an awesome build. It must be really relaxing waking up to that view everyday
As a Costarican I think this sort of projects are amazing and inspiring!
How? They are encouraging others to buy and destroy costarican forest
Absolutely amazing job my friend! I'm definitely travelling to Costa Rica next year.
I really love how you explained each step. What a lovely home and I'm so happy that you were able to accomplish your dream. Sincerely.
Congratulations. You put in the work & it turned out great. It certainly looks amazing.
Envision people are good people, was glad to see that mention of their gift.
Wow I'm in love with this. And 3.5 months is really fast for all tje work you did. Absolutely amazing build
Thank you so much!
This video taught me alot since I'm planning on becoming an architect what a nice design!
That's the most majestic structure I've ever seen constructed. How much was the land? The construction of the cabin materials / labor? Love it.
Thank you :) I have a cost breakdown video on my channel that goes through the costs minus the land
Envision Fest brought me to Costa Rica for the first time this year! I'm totally sold on the area & planning to move there this year. I keep stumbling across people online who live in the area.. such a small world!
I agree with some comments that i also would've did sime of the thing's different. But, nonetheless you absolutely crushed this and you should be very proud. I love it. Great job guys.
At first I thought you were just filming, but when I saw you actually going down there with the crew and BUILDING with them, I felt very proud to say the least, damn!
Man is building a home right there! very respectful tbh, I immedietly subscribed & liked & shared it with my friends, now THAT is something to be respected big time!
Thanks for all the hard word & thanks to the guys who helped, that's a great job! cheers!
Thank you! I appreciate that. It was extremely rewarding
A house in harmony with nature, it's great to show me its process
Your cabin is GORGEOUS. And it was done in only 3.5 months?? Mindblowing.

Shocking build. If you don't know any better, you would say this was a good build.
A truly beautiful place, I am in awe well done my friend and enjoy your beautiful new home in Costa Rica!!! Xxx
At 2:47 in the clip, the trees don’t look good; it may be a sign of an impending landslide. I think you should consult with a geotechnical engineer.
This is one of the most inspiring video of this kind that I have watched. Thank you for sharing and I wish you all the success. You strike me as a surfer. I lived in Guanacaste for a year and I dream of a project like this in the near future.
This was so satisfying to watch.
Thank you! I wanted to make something like ASMR for the eyes for people interested in building

I am planning on being a fully remote data scientist in the future and plan on being a minimalist ….. this style of life has always captivated me and I am getting more and more motivated to pursue this the more I see these kinds of videos
As climate change becomes more aggressive , more and more people will be cramming into cities where they depend on having to commute to work
But not me 😊

And exactly what was the safety that was missing, might be helpful to be specific.
He gave these guys work to feed their families, you have a problem with that? 😂

Absolutely beautiful home, and that view is heartwarming. Great job, excellent color scheme.
Im from Costa Rica from the tropical rain forest part . I can tell this cabin is not built to last. termites in CR are sneaky and eat wood and concrete, difficult to control them when you are in the middle of the jungle, I wonder also how did he obtained permission to build in the middle of the forest…
Containers would fix that issue
I'm pretty sure he did his homeworks haha
I'M from Costa Rica (the tropical Rainforest part) and I can tell you that termites don't eat concrete (at least not fast enough to cause any meaningful damage within 50+ years (especially when there are other options around to eat).
You're not completely wrong about the wood, especially soft-woods like pine, however this wood is specifically treated, which means that it should not be affected by termites.
There's nothing wrong with this build - it's very well done!
Termites don't eat concrete so I'm taking the rest of the bs your saying like it is BS
He says its pressure treated pine to prevent termites and rot. It' should stand up.
Thank you for sharing! This is definitely what I've been looking for. I recently built a small house, and your video gave me some great ideas. Thanks again! Congratulations on your beautiful new house!

Thank you! There is a video on my channel already that goes through all the costs to build.
