You needed to put “Z” flashing between the siding. Water will get inside the seam. You can’t rely on caulking.
The window flashing (the sticky kind) needs to be done from the bottom to top so there is always an overlap on your seams. You put your sides on first, then the top then the bottom. Any water that comes down the top will rook under that flashing.
Your window frames should have had a bigger gap between the framing so when the earth moves, it won’t break the glass.
I can’t tell but your floor joists should have been pressure treated since they are touching those concrete blocks. If they get wet they will rot out.

Framing 10/10! But because you asked - you have to flash window/door frames on all 4 sides usually 3" on the sheathing and 3" onto the frame. Then install the windows with calking all around, but over hang the frame so it clears your siding. Then install counter flashing and then your finish siding. Water is going to come off the window and get between your siding.

Now repurposing is easy… just like those who turn a garage into a den or a bedroom into an office…
Ultimately… the time spent was quality learning, saving money doing it himself, time with wifey, and coming together as a community…
Bravo young man way to go!

If you get any heat about not having staggered joints on the subfloor, those people are not competent builders. Ignore them. Also, what a great neighbour! One thing I noticed is next time, don't put sealant under your windows, and always shim them up a 1/4" to 1/2". If any moisture gets by your flashing, it will have nowhere to go and will just rot in the window jamb area.

*This turned out great! Down the line I would definitely add a tv w/firestick or Echelon mirror to get more workouts in. I would also get a rack to mount my yoga mats and Pilates bar on the wall.*

I loved watching the whole process. Good job. I see all these negative comments. I don’t understand this. This guy built something awesome. Who know what it can be used for in the future. For all the naysayers- what have you done lately to improve your situation or your community?

Love the idea, my only concern is the orientation of the multitrack, not a ton of room for the barbell

My thoughts exactly. Literally no room to work with to load and unload plates without being awkwardly positioned. Probably realized it when they put together the machine, which by then was too late to do anything about it.

Inspiring and motivational, great work. It can be a multifuncional space. At the end of the day you showed how to get a structure done, no matter the size. Keep it up!

Beautiful finished product. Could have been just 3-4’ wider to accommodate the equipment. That said your work was outstanding.

It’s cute, but I feel like all that work and money just for it to hold one piece of gym equipment… seems a little bit wasted.

I am allowed to build the shed in my county without a permit, as long as it’s built on a sled or blocks. Nothing into the ground. Might be a code issue where he is?

    • @jonathanalan6075
      @jonathanalan6075 4 дня назад +1

If he puts it in the ground he most likely needs a permit

Love the build, awesome job. As for the high up windows, if you knew where the OSB was gonna be, why not use the router with the frame laid down on the ground. No ladder and router used together to cut it out.
