    There are plenty that will criticise, but I think this looks really well done. Good attention to detail and pride in your work. Not a bad pace of work either with no nail gun for a lot of it. Your neighbour seems great. A few tips: use a sharp pencil over a sharpie; a good laser level will make everything a lot easier and quicker; perhaps leave more room between the windows and the framing next time - when the building moves and settles over time this gives more leeway without the windows being in danger of cracking.
    All the best from a UK chippy 🔨

      People like to hammer the window frames all the way in when they're not supposed to in order to allow for flex. You can leave a 1/4 inch gap for stud nails and it wouldn't compromise the integrity of the scaffolding. The nails are grooved. People just like to hammer it all the way in. Taking it apart is a PIA.

      @@CatsPajamas23Indeed HGTV did this to me with our foreclosure they cut out so much time from those renovations that I often felt defeated and wanted to give up. Granted I hand beveled all my shower doorway tiles myself with an old belt sander cause I did not want the added grout lines with the added two inch wide bullnose. Now 14 years later I want a bigger tile cutter for large tiles with smaller grout lines and a different type of tile. But nope..no time nor money at the moment.

    For the windows (casing), you’re not supposed to seal the bottom for drainage purposes.. just the top and sides. 🙂

      After putting it all together, my neighbor told me that I needed to leave little holes at the bottom for draining but I think we might be OK just because the overhang is so big. Next time I’ll definitely do this. thanks for the tip. ❤️

    Wow. It's so cool seeing the timelapse of the build. Great job! It's beautiful. (I was thinking that if you're not immediately going to move it, you should lift the completed floor, pour a concrete slab the size of the perimeter and let it dry, set the floor on and finish the house. It will deter dampness and bugs and other critters. (Of course you can do that after it's finished but it will be a lot heavier. It also gives you the advantage of stability without it being set in the concrete so that you can move it. ))

    For the window flashing, the lower corners are a common source of leaks leading to rot. There are various solutions, and one of them might have been a good idea. But your installation method is a common one too, so it's really a question of how thorough one wants to get. Extra water protection takes extra time and money, and there are so many possible things that one could do.

    • @brent...
      @brent... 2 месяца назад

      I think it’s better to angle the sill, have a back dam, and let the bottom drain to the outside. That lets any water that eventually gets in to easily drain away.

    I really like this! I want to build a tiny home soon, this is a very good video! You explain the process very well! I’ve lived in 100+ year old houses for the last 45+ years always doing repairs and rebuilds. Compared to some of that this should be a breeze! Thank you 😊♥️♥️♥️! I’ll be following!👍

    Bless you, your wife, and your worker. Great job! This video will assist us in housing many homeless individuals. The how-to video is so detailed that I believe I can even build one myself. Thank you!

    I have never watched a video that was more than 10 minutes long on RUclips until this video. It was, in my opinion, educational, informative, and fun to watch. Thanks. I am looking forward to the next video.

    Its so nice and helpful to me to see step by step. I always used to think theres some huge thing the “professionals” do…: to build homes etc and its like nope step by step layer by layer once u understand it u can…. Anything it ❤❤
