I recognize this lady architect from a documentary called Coast Modern years ago and I really like the style she described things. Glad to see her again years later talking things about designs.
Beautiful ruggedness, reflective of the nature that surrounds it. I've ridden my motorcycle through that area, it is not only what you see, it is how it feels and smell. The sea, the trees, the flowers, the rain, the mist, the wind, the sun- all of it. There is honesty in ruggedness. The house is the same. Honest materials, makes the connection with the building effortless. Love the design. Kudos to the architects.
This is a beautiful house, but the view is even better. Being built on top of a cliff is to me pretty much perfection when it comes to a having a house on the beach. A big bonus is all those gorgeous trees. It's really an impressive view.
the way she speaks of the land is exactly the type of person you want building /designing things. if someone doesn't respect a community, nature and their surroundings everything will be lost over time.
Just so A M A Z I N G!!!!!! Unbelievably calm, welcoming, natural, unassuming, and organic! The way Modern Mother Nature intended!! I want something like this one day so this video and this architect are going into my Favorite Architecture Video Archive for future reference and inspiration. And who knows, I just may be hiring you, too! Thank you for sharing. your space and ideas.
Such lovely cinematography and storytelling. I just wish the editor hadn't cut on the beat nearly every.single.time. I know it's a trend but... please don't :)
I like the architect, and how she articulates her own principles and those she is working within, very much. I had difficultly following the logic of the space through the videos. Half the time I didn't know if I was in the main house or the guest house, the front wall of the bedroom or the back wall. The idea that you look at the view from the bed seemed to apply only to the guest house -- unless I was turned around?
The architect says how it's a "simple box" on the outside but it is not! I love those protruding windows with window seats built in, I like the timber wall on the 2n floor and the large windows facing the ocean - it's not that simple and in a good, aesthetically pleasing way. The interiors were great as well except for one thing that just ruined it for me. I hate those wood panels on the ceiling - they look cheap. They are too busy for the space. Had it been something similar to the timber cladding of the walls, I would've loved it. It would've been more uniform and not as busy and distracting. Those panels make ceilings look lower and distract from the rest of the space, which is just gorgeous! I loved all the build-ins and the use of open spaces with a bedroom without walls and that open style kitchen.
@justthink5854 thanks! this color is great on this house! It's cool to see how it was improved since the 1990s! Maybe it's not timber - it just looks like it is and the look is far better than those panels on the ceiling - i guess that is what I was trying to say.
I would love it more if the house was actually shown instead of just zoomed-in sections. I don't even know whether I like the house or not. I can't see it properly!
Can you help me design a house with distance from the government, for women with or without children in abusive relationships? A home where they have six weeks to come to rest and plan their new lives?
i really don't care how beautiful is the house architecture... some beautiful places like this should be totally forbidden for house construction. They completely destroy the raw and beautiful nature for the sake of vanity
I thought they said the house was built on a former sheep ranch that had degraded the environment. I think the reason the place looks so beautiful is because of the architects who planned the master community.
I don't think anyone should be banned from anywhere, we are part of the world as much as the world is part of us. What we construct is part of the world, as much as the mountains, dunes, rivers etc are part of the earth. No one complains when water flaws and erodes the earth into streams, rivers and lakes. No one complains when the wind blows and together with the rain form the earth into rock and plains. What of earthquakes making mountains? Or trees makikg forests? We are part of nature and this is how we leave our mark on our world. Even animals teraform the earth by grazing, wondering and living. We should not be exempt from that beautiful way of life.
Have to agree with the idea that this should have remained pristine. We made sure we bought an existing house from the 70s so no more trees would be cut down.
I have to say every time i watch The Local project i get so annoyed with the loud music during the film and you can't really hear what the people is actually saying in the film. That music is so annoying.
This isnt 'warm' - indeed nothing about it is warm - its just a sea of nasty concrete and metal with islands of nice wood. No curves, no flowing natural shapes - just squares and brutality.
Pretentious mess of a house. Filmography of this site is equally off point, most of the video is waxing poetically about trees and grass while the house is not being shown at all. Did I say pretentious mess? Oh yea, worth repeating. Unsubscribed.

Well said!
I love how open plan it feels while still staying so connected to the outdoors.

Even the dog looks happy, what a place to call home sweet home.
What a view to wake up to every morning, bet the sunrises are stunning.

Wow, what a site. You can tell by the trees how windy this place is. Architecture is stunning.
Location is amazing. I love windy places.
Love it! Would love to see more architecture like this in Sea Ranch.
More to come!

Judith! ❤
This is Northern California where most of the coastal areas are owned by the state. Very little of the coastal areas are actually private.
아주 훌률한 집 잘 봤습니다
I’m a bit surprised that’s CA. It looked to me like New Zealand.
Excellent
OMG that's incredible
Beautiful
Nice
Congratulations on your 10th issue. Your videos are therapy.

I like Turnbulls work in Napa
Assalamu'alaikum

I wonder what the HOA fees are? 😅
$334/month
$332/month!
Can you help me design a house with distance from the government, for women with or without children in abusive relationships? A home where they have six weeks to come to rest and plan their new lives?
I can't. Just too much wood on the interior. I'd go crazy.
I can atleast ask….
i really don't care how beautiful is the house architecture... some beautiful places like this should be totally forbidden for house construction. They completely destroy the raw and beautiful nature for the sake of vanity
Did you build your house on a disused rubbish dump? Most cities are built on the coast or on a river… something was destroyed.
I thought they said the house was built on a former sheep ranch that had degraded the environment. I think the reason the place looks so beautiful is because of the architects who planned the master community.

You’re 200,000 years late with this suggestion.

I wish this showed the house more without all the stupid quick cut MTV style editing.
I have to say every time i watch The Local project i get so annoyed with the loud music during the film and you can't really hear what the people is actually saying in the film. That music is so annoying.
I couldn’t count how many times she said build into the landscape.

Air pollution nightmare. Good luck breathing in those carcinogens all day long.
The only thing that ruined this vid is the narrator said too many "u know...." 😅

Show Architecture without floorplan... 👎👎
Bravo
