That hotel room is to die for!! I’m doing some renovations myself and that is such an inspiration. Love that they’re dog friendly and vegan friendly, too. The one thing I haven’t tried yet is vegan collagen. Very intriguing…

i can't believe the portion sizes...🌿i never really understood why restaurants do that...Possibly because they can charge an exorbitant amount for a very sophisticated, delicious and artistic bite to eat... Sort of funny that the last "course" was a bite of pumpkin something in the middle of a huge bowl...❄

I've never driven a fully electric car, only hybrids. I think the anxiety of not being able to find a charging station on long journeys like that would just make me too anxious! My car is over 20 years old and aside from cruise control has none of those fancy driving assistance tools! I've driven family cars that have them and honestly find them so intrusive and distracting. I have been driving automatic gear boxes for quite a while now though and can honestly say I'd never willingly go back to a manual, so much easier on the knees! That sunrise was beautifully! I did feel for Alex though as there's nothing worse than getting stabbed in the eyes with that low winter sun! Quite fun watching you drive past some familiar spots today. Hope you guys had a good stay, hotel was amazing! Thanks for sharing 🙂

Such good home decor inspo at that hotel! I've just bought and am currently renovating my first home all by myself whilst having a full time job. It's exhausting but exciting! I don’t understand this question? Did you ever ask yourself where the petrol you fill your car with comes from? 😅
@@MadeleineOlivia in UK it is better now than in other countries where they still use coal to generate energy. But still, electric cars are far worse for the environment because of the batteries that have a short life span and the disposal is very harmful. Also making of electric cars creates double the amount of emissions than normal cars. It is a nice toy to have for those who have the time and can afford it But not for an avarage working family.
@@andreauhlikova7434but the batteries don’t have a short lifespan. Also, when they are eventually removed from a car, they then are repurposed into storage for other uses. The idea of a short lifespan is in general a misnomer. Long term, it is proven that EV’s are better for the environment. They are not in the short term however.

Great to see your dog strapped in and being safety conscientious...I cringe when I see loose dogs in cars because dogs have been injured or killed hitting windiw screens if you have to break suddenly and hard ..my lurcher and jack chi go in the back with a dog guard or strapped in with a doggy seat belt if they are going on the seats... and you are visiting my adoptrd home as I live in Cumbria and have done for nearly 18 years now originally coming from the South ..I feel blessed to live here every day.with views of mountains, fells, and fields fom my rural garden ❤ although being a vegan (for 34 years) in Cumbria used to be harder regarding eating out but now it's so much better 🙂

I clean my teeth in bed too, and floss them! I then get up and rinse out. It’s just so much more relaxing and I can take my time lol
Pro tip for you as I live in the same area with an electric BMW, get the BMW charging account and then charge at Ionity charge points, the price is a lot lot cheaper (at the moment). The points aren't that frequent, Cullumpton, Chippenham at the 2 in the southwest, but every little helps

That's brave going all the way to the Lake District for your first electric car road trip! The hotel was incredibly beautiful, but the food :( .....I would have been so disappointed. As beautiful and tasty as it was, it looked like a Summer amuse-bouche selection, rather than a Winter warmer. You should have been given a hearty Winter main course like a vegan Mushroom Wellington with all the steaming hot vegetable trimmings etc. Roxy melts my heart every time :)
Love the tips for the electric car, we have a new electric BMW also and are new to this charging business, so if you can do a journey from Cornwall to Cumbria then that is reassuring.
We stopped off at Jamaica Inn during our last trip to Cornwall! Headed back to Cornwall tomorrow for Christmas, have family that are from/ live in Looe 🙋🏼♀️

Ooh, if you go on the M6, give us a wave as you pass junction 18 👋 that's our junction! I've just turned 50 on the 9/12 so help is needed!! safe journey! I nearly went to teacher training in Ambleside, ended up at Liverpool, met my hubby of nearly 25 years so made the right choice 😘❤️❤️❤️

We stay at Rothay Manor whenever we go to the Lakes. Lovely hotel and we also take our dog, just a shame you can only sit in the Brathay Room with them.
We’ve had the tasting menu there and despite not having a Michelin star it was up there with other Michelin-starred places we’ve eaten at. Surprised you were hungry at the end, but might be the lack of protein like you said.

We are so lucky as we love the Lakes and live just an hour away, so we can pop there for a day - really enjoyed your road trip! Ambleside is a beautiful place and your hotel was to die for! Those green cups in your bedroom (green is my favourite colour) were stunning! :) Your food looked amazing, too!
Electric cars are fab but the infrastructure in this country really needs improving before there can be a major switch-over. Can't believe those services only had 2 points and 1 was out of order - what's the point of that? I would absolutely hate having to sit in a queue for hours at the services until we could charge the car and move on, which is going to happen as more and more people get e-cars. We regularly travel the length of the country as our son lives 6-7 hours away, and holiday in the north of Scotland where our main destination is 10 hours drive - my nerves would be frayed constantly wondering if we were going to be able to charge the car. That said, we would love an electric one - just don't think the UK is ready yet. Hashtag for the govt - needsmorework! :)

I know this video is now 5 months old, but can I recommend some Apps - ABRP - electric car route planner(plans your charging stops to get there quicker), Zap-Map - shows all charging points (can filter for ones at hotels and charge speed etc) I realise you didn't hang around much longer than you would of at services, but due to the way batteries charge, charging more than 80% on a road trip uses a lot more time than leaving earlier and making other, shorter, stops. Glad the car worked for you, watched it on a search for EV road trip UK. Thank you

I wouldn’t say that’s a big road trip for any electric car these days, I went from Edinburgh to Cornwall in my VW ID3 with my wife and baby in 2021 , I now have a ID5. I could and would easily go to the other side of Europe with the ID5 with my little girls and wife.
My husband will feed me from the passenger seat so we don’t have to stop on a long drive lol i couldn’t imagine having to charge for an hour

My husband and I brush our teeth (after flossing) in bed every night while watching YT, History Channel, etc. He then brings me a small opaque cup (that gets washed every day) into which I expel and he pours into the sink where he rinses. We've done it for years.
What a great road trip. It does make me laugh, that when ever anybody not from Birmingham sees a sign for Birmingham, they mimic the accent 😂. The hotel room look gorgeous, very very nice. But yes on the food, it all looked tasty, but I was thinking I'd be so hungry after that. Massive bowls, with a tiny bit of food. Lastly I agree with Alex, psychotic behaviour brushing your teeth in bed 😂😂😂💚💚💚
An hour to charge 65%...that's crazy 🤦🏻♀️ and the 1 hour 45 for 85%....so you added 3 hours onto your travel time?! 🤯🤯🤯
Nope - we stopped three times to charge the car. We would have stopped those times anyway to go to the loo, let Roxie out and get food as we were travelling across England. It literally would have been exactly the same if we were driving a petrol car
But it's clearly not a feasible option for many people as most people would not stop like this...glad it worked out for you though.
Wow, that place looks amazing, and so rare to allow dogs in the restaurant! I usually avoid hotels because they expect you to leave your dog alone in the room, I too would worry if my dog do any damage whilst panicking where I was. Please can you pop me into your draw for the vegan collagen, I turned vegan February this year (after 27 years of being vegetarian) and my health has taken a bit of a knock, I am quite deficient with a few vitamins and my energy levels are low all the time, (I am going through lot's of tests) but I am looking into health and nutrition more now as a result. I am not an instagrammer or ticktock person, but I do follow you religiously on here, your videos are helpful in my quest to getting my health back on track 😍xxx

Yeaaaa your travelling to where I live (Cumbria) if you think lanes are narrow in Cornwall wait till you reach Ambleside 😂. Whilst I love the idea of an electric car we have a touring caravan so need a big car to pull the van plus, go to France every year (Apart from the Covid years) we usually go from home to Portsmouth which is a 9 hour journey! Can you imagine having to stop as you had to charge !,
We stayed in Ambleside! It is so so beautiful!! Very narrow haha just like Cornwall! Our journey was 11 hours in the end and I think made no different by the charging stops as we would usually stop a 2-3 times anyway for the loo and food! So a success really
