I know your job is to try and sell cameras but, after watching the usual suspects on RUclips do their reviews of the A7 IV, this was by far, the most illuminating. No hyperbole or filler, just good information. Thanks Amy, George and Wex.
Hi Ian, we're glad you enjoyed the video! We're lucky that we have complete freedom to review every piece of kit totally honestly, so glad that has come through in the video. Thanks for tuning in - Amy
Jeez, as an A7siii owner, I was there walking past by them, and I was thinking "That looks weird, is not A7iii nor A7siii cuz there's only one logo, not even alpha 1." Fuck, that's a A7iv damn
I have watched a number of the popular vloggers mostly concentrating on the technical aspects. Your review was excellent and usefully complimentary. You and George work well together and aside from the camera review information, it was enjoyable to watch, thanks.
Hi - I know the Sony A1 has a 120/sec auto focus adjustment rate, but I can’t find this info for Sony A74. Could you tell me what it is please? as there is a lot of info out there stating the A74 has the same autofocus as the A1? Surely this can’t be exactly the same???
Good video. Too bad about 4K at 60 fps in apsc. In all the videos on the presentation of this camera they are commenting on it. I do not believe that it is not an artificial limitation not to step on the A7SIII. The latter already records at 120fps in 4K. I would agree with other colleagues to make some kind of boycott and press for them to implement 4K at 60fps in fullframe even in a paid firmware update. They can't tease us like this.
I just bought this camera 5 days ago! I got the last one in Vancouver as there is now a long wait for more due to chip shortages. So far loving it but what a learning curve coming from Fujifilm, another system I love. Great video, thanks!...♥️
When is the release date for this camera? Is it good for astrophotography? Your video presentation rocks for sure.... very engaging and informative so thanks guys!
Great review. Does the camera have built in GPS or Neutral density filters? Also off the topic but would love your thoughts on ND lens filters to protect lens Yes/NO?
Great Video! I just had literally all my gear robbed the other day and had just starting to use an A7riii - is this camera much different? apart from the pixels?
Hi Phil, It was the absolute worst, right?! A huge improvement in my eyes and I left it on auto-select the whole time I was testing. Thanks for watching - Amy
Very informative! I pre ordered the A74. I'm new to video filmmaking and your detailed explanation of video modes helped me understand the difference between modes. I look forward to watching more. Great insight to other details. I've watched hundreds of tutorials, yours are easy to understand. Thx from a fellow Texan! Thank you!
Great review, well put together and well presented, thank you! I ordered mine yesterday let’s hope Sony ship early December as the rumours are saying.. Do you know the shipping date? I wish Sony would let us connect an iPhone and stream rather then only being able to use a Sony phone.
This is the first video I've seen from you guys and I just wanted to comment that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent presentation and editing, a pleasure to watch. I have had my eyes on the A7iii for 3 years now so I'm pretty much set on getting this - I am just a hobbyist and enjoy street photography, particularly in the evening when the lights come on. What lens would you guys recommend? Is it the usual suspects from the A7iii? I had my eye on the Tamron 28-75mm. Amy said "We're nice like that!" as you were goin to leave the crop amount in the description but I don't see it. Does that mean you aren't nice like that anymore?
Hey Ben, so glad you enjoyed the video! It totally depends on what budget you have available and what you enjoy shooting. That Tamron is a great lens. If you're after a prime the Sony 35mm f/1.8 is lovely, especially for low light, and actually I really like the 20mm as well, it is beautifully sharp. No don't worry, we're still nice! We just haven't had this confirmed by Sony yet. I'll tell them Ben needs to know and we'll get this sped up for you! Thanks for watching - Amy
Hi Onkar, Amy was using the Benro Tortoise TTOR34C legs, and the BENRO GX35 head. You can find them both here: bit.ly/3nLs2Bx. Thanks for watching! George
I’ve preordered from you. Let’s hope I’m first in the queue. 🙌🏻 thank god another uk review. I may do one . This will be my second to my a7s3. Selling my others. I love everything about this. Switch to video to photo keeping settings other than memory 1etc. Fabulous. I literally want it now.
Hi, Muriyanto. You're right :) Full Frame and APS-C are different. This camera's E Mount is compatible with both Full Frame and APS-C lenses, which is great if you have a mixture of both in your lens arsenal. The A7 IV can also be set to crop for an APS-C lens to ensure you're not capturing any of that vignetting you may find otherwise. I hope this helped. Thank you for watching! - Shawn
Hey there, It took almost no time at all to switch between the modes. The same as you'd expect if you were moving between Manual and Aperture Priority. Thanks for watching - Amy
nice review and images - definitely a get camera - predict a long wait - I am guessing early summer when one can order and get without pre-order but hope not
ROLLING SHUTTER ISSUES, loud Mechanical shutter is not great for media, journalist, wedding and highly restricted location of noise. 2006 kind 6fps for uncompressed and Lossless raw. 0.12 millions dots increase of lcd. I think this camera is EPIC fail and doesn't go more sell like a7iii did.
Hey Marcus It is indeed. In the UK we shoot PAL which means we shoot 4K 50p instead of 60p, as we play back at 25 frames per second rather than 30 frames per second (the playback rate for NTSC). Thanks for watching - Amy
Hey Mike, sometimes we get sent lenses with test cameras and the lens hood's have been lost and sometimes, we lose them... (not me though - lets blame George!). Totally agree though, in general, if you have a lens hood, use it! Thanks for watching - Amy
Hey Dave, You obviously never saw my mum photographing my school plays when I was a kid. If she'd owned a 1DX III the country would have run out of memory cards. Seriously though, it is more about burst shooting. This huge boost on the buffer means that if there are a few minutes of intense action (the rice throwing at a wedding, or a dog going absolutely crazy in a swimming pool) you aren't going to miss one single moment of that action. It certainly won't be used by everyone, but for those who do find it useful, it will be a huge step up. Thanks for tuning in! Amy
Quite a disappointment. Rolling shutter is horrible, new features are gimmicks, IBIS still very poor, the screen still a joke, mechanical shutter is quite loud, colour science still seems a bit greenish…not impressed at all especially taking under consideration substantial price hike.
Yay good old Sony have succumbed to the youtubers and gave it the side hinged flippy flappy screen. This camera is now unusable for wedding photographers, photojournalists, documentary photographers and more. But look on the bright side after you attempt to get the killer shot you can turn the camera on yourself and take a lovely selfie 🙄
Lumix s5 vs a74 what would you say those two.. aha i know many of would say yeah blah i love sony and brainwash people will still buying a73 now that a74 is announced every single one of you is gonna rush to this camera. Any I'm lumix shooter with s lineup and i own lumix s5 but i must say sony this does great job with everything it's almost beat s5 but not very sure coz we still have the advantage of 6 12bit hld footage with full frame capacity and best ibis in the world. Last but not least dual native iso which obviously perform better than alpha line 6k photo mode in which you can get 6k video internally. That is hilarious 🤣🤣🤣

100 percent! This is what you call a proper review, a bit too long though.
I agree, ditto.loved this and so much better than the other influences. well done Amy and George
Great video guys- very well done and probably the best preview of the camera that I've watched so far :)
I'm A7iii and still happy.... But there's a lot of temptation here. Your videos are also getting better and better every time
Jeez, as an A7siii owner, I was there walking past by them, and I was thinking "That looks weird, is not A7iii nor A7siii cuz there's only one logo, not even alpha 1." Fuck, that's a A7iv damn
Honestly love the quality of these vids! Keep em coming Wex!
We're glad you like them Ramy! Thanks for tuning in - Amy
What a fun 24 hours! I can't wait for my pre-order to ship, this video got me even more excited! Great review :)
Great review. When is it out in the store? Looking to buy it from the website or in-store.
I've watched over 20 videos on this camera, but this is the best by far.
Not quite up to 20 but getting there and I agree.
Hey Aman, thanks for the kind words, we really appreciate it! George.
best review i've seen, i'm still using the A7ii but i'm definitely upgrading to this one
I watched a week after upload, and this is the best review of the Sony a7iv, I have watched so far👌
Thanks for saying that! It's much appreciated, George.
I have watched a number of the popular vloggers mostly concentrating on the technical aspects. Your review was excellent and usefully complimentary. You and George work well together and aside from the camera review information, it was enjoyable to watch, thanks.

I really enjoyed your review and found it genuine and engaging. And I’m now a new subscriber, thanks!
Hey adventure_photo, that's great news, so glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for tuning in and subscribing - Amy
Hi there, great presentation as always. Can you tell me please what kind of "ND Filter" did you use on the Sony lens in 01:40 minutes shows?

Great job Amy, you're killing it.
Thank you Mike! Glad you're enjoying the videos - Amy
informative review.
Is there a Neutral picture profile on the Sony A74
Amy you're a natural. Great review. !!!
Hi Amy,whats your favourite lens/focal lenght for everyday use?
that focus tool is like using false color for video. love it x
Hey, nice review! Does the camera come with an extra battery charger?
Is it still worth buying in 2023 for bugginner?
Hey! Yes, absolutely - even the A7 III is pretty decent still. THank you.

What bag are u using in the video?
Awesome video Amy and George!!! The Sony a74 is definitely on my"to get" list!!
Hey Donnell,
Glad you liked the video. It is certainly an awesome piece of kit - thanks for watching! Amy
Hi sir and ma'am
Is sony A74 a good option for real estate videography!?
Does rolling shutter effect?
superb and comprehensive review. Plus brilliant presentation. Thank You
Looks fabulous. Great demonstration.
Hands down best review. Thank you. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about my pre order.
Thanks for the review, and your honesty. Can you tell me if there is a silent shutter mode, ie electronic as well as mechanical? Thanks.
I just bought this camera 5 days ago! I got the last one in Vancouver as there is now a long wait for more due to chip shortages. So far loving it but what a learning curve coming from Fujifilm, another system I love. Great video, thanks!...♥️
So far How do you think A74 compared to your Fujifilm ?what are the lenses you have with Sony ? Which fuji camera and lenses 😊 you had ?
It would have been nice to see some portraits, especially close up, shallow DOF, head shots to check if the eye focus is more accurate than the A7III.
Hello Amy good video , the A9ii and A1 have the closing door for the sensor
When is the release date for this camera? Is it good for astrophotography? Your video presentation rocks for sure.... very engaging and informative so thanks guys!
Nice video what was the filter being used at the beginning of your video thanks
Hi Jerry, it's this one here: bit.ly/3xiGrYW.
Glad you enjoyed the video! George
Thats a great review, nicely done.
does it support clip in filters
Great review. Does the camera have built in GPS or Neutral density filters? Also off the topic but would love your thoughts on ND lens filters to protect lens Yes/NO?
Who is better z9 or this sony
Great Video! I just had literally all my gear robbed the other day and had just starting to use an A7riii - is this camera much different? apart from the pixels?
So glad you mentioned the EVF sensor has moved, that drove me nuts on my A7iii's too

Really entertaining video, the A7 IV does look good

Hi. nice review. Which tripod did you use while demonstrating continuous shooting?
Hi Onkar, Amy was using the Benro Tortoise TTOR34C legs, and the BENRO GX35 head. You can find them both here: bit.ly/3nLs2Bx.
Thanks for watching! George

what a awesome review 👏 👌 .New subscriber. thank you for the video 📹
Glad you liked the video, and thanks for the sub! George
Thank you
Nice informative review...
Question: how fast is a7 IV ready to shoot/film when switching from stills to video and vice versa ?
Hey there,
It took almost no time at all to switch between the modes. The same as you'd expect if you were moving between Manual and Aperture Priority. Thanks for watching - Amy
Hats off to you guys this was a great review
Beautiful presentation with a beautiful camera.
Thanks for a great vid and taking all my money over the last few months 😆
Glad you enjoyed the video Max! Cheers, George
My old A7III just saw this review and found the nearest window and jumped out of it
great review , I just don't like that flip screen , apart from that I would buy it tomorrow
nice review and images - definitely a get camera - predict a long wait - I am guessing early summer when one can order and get without pre-order but hope not

I'm sure it'll be popular but hopefully you won't be waiting that long! Thanks for tuning in! Amy
great review
Good job
..and i'm still using my trusty a6000.. 😁. How tech flies.
great review once again
