I know you're trying to be polite but I couldn't help but laugh out loud because this song is literally the most recognizable tune in American history. Rosie done good though, I agree.
Randomly had this video recommended to me and very glad to have watched it! I've not heard this rendition before and it is certainly the only one I've heard done at Harper's Ferry and I'm sure John Brown would be proud that the site of his last stand with his nineteen brave martyrs now stands in testament to the ultimate overthrow of slavery. I'll take this opportunity to post an excerpt from Vonnegut's "God Bless You, Dr. Kevorkian": "Law-abiding citizens opened fire from all sides, killing eight of his men, two of them his sons. He himself was taken prisoner by a force of United States Marines, sworn to uphold the Constitution. Their commander was Colonel Robert E. Lee. John Brown wears a hangman’s noose for a necktie up in Heaven. I asked him about it, and he said, “Where’s yours? Where’s yours?” His eyes were like glowing coins. “Without shedding of blood,” he said, “there is no remission of sin.” It turns out that’s in the New Testament, Hebrews 9:22."
This song reminds me of the music played at the old Virginia primitive rifleman rendezvous reenactment in Smithfield Virginia held twice a year once in October and once in march
This is an absolutely underrated gem
Thank you!

A lovely rendition! You're very skilled on that banjo, and the insects in the background make an excellent chorus!
