Multi-instrumentalist and ballad singer Rosie shares her deep passion for the musical traditions of her culture with her interpretations of traditional Appalachian/American folk songs, and her love for history and 78 record collecting with early 20th century music.
Hares on the Mountain
A little something different with this old English folk tune. Inspired by Shirley Collins' rendition. I haven't ever heard this in the States but seems to be a popular one for records.

A sadder one for this year's Halloween song, but a classic for sure. Hope you enjoy and have a great Halloween.

My take on this Carter Family classic. I did this before but decided to do a different version. Of course I noticed my lipstick was messed up after recording haha

This has been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember so I had to do it for the first recorded tune on my custom Pisgah! Still getting used to the bigger pot. Frank Fairfield taught me this version a while back, hope you dig it

A song I've loved for a long while but been inspired by the Martin Young & Corbett Grisby recording lately. Sorry if vocals are a bit quiet, still getting used to a fancy mic haha
Dinah

This tune is generally known as Cindy, but Land Norris recorded it in 1925 as Dinah and my cat is named Dinah, so naturally I am using Dinah. I'm glad that my equipment now makes it so much easier to record outside, the weather has also helped. Thanks for tuning in

Thank you for the song. As far as the video goes, maybe don't green screen next time. To me, it clashes with your authentic playing. Opinions vary, but I loved hearing you for the first time.
I'm not on a green screen? Lol. Thank you though
@@roughhouserosie My bad. I beg forgiveness. edit: some video issues with your hair made me draw the wrong conclusion? The smudged parts of your outline are completely natural.
@troyclayton haha you're good. It's probably just the frizz in my hair lol. I was filming around sunset on a cloudy day on my phone cam so might have affected the quality
I'm so glad this was recommended to me. This song has always intrigued me - it has queer undertones to me that I don't think were intentional, but resonate nonetheless. Plus the general feminism throughout has always been inspiring given the age of the piece. One of my favorite folk songs, and your rendition is beautiful :)
My god, she'd kick my ass while singing with a smile.
I'm down with whatever youtube is givng me
Sounds great!
Nothing quite like that old time banjer sound!
Love this deeply, Shirley's rendition was the first I had heard of it.
I have listened to this song on a loop for almost an hour and have fallen completely in love with it. Congratulations, Rosie!!
Thank you!
I've been a listener for a long time, and it's just so great to see you play one of my favorite folk tunes. Great work, and thanks so much for performing it!

Gorgeous song, belongs rightfully in the canon of folk music. Poetic and rapturing.
Beautiful.
What a joy. Takes me back to earliest childhood listening to the Carter Family. Thanks!
A beautiful woman singing & playing beautifully. ❤❤
You have the kind of voice I can listen to all day.
Thank you!
Oh, this is the song titled “Blackbirds and Thrushes” in my old British folk music book. It sounds wonderful. Thanks.
This is so, so beautiful ♡ your voice is incredible and I've never heard a version of Wildwood Flower like this one! Great job.
I very much appreciate that coming from you!!
@roughhouserosie d'aw, thanks dude! ♡
Lovely sound ♥️
oh my god you're voice on this one makes my heart ache it's so tender. New fan here but oh my what a talent
Fantastic, you are such a born performer. You look some what like a folksy Gwen Stefani
Old British folk music is one of my favorite genres. The Appalachian nuance imbuing the tune is so enchanting, especially in the haunting beauty of the woods. This clip was a wonderful escape.
Glad I could provide an escape. Thank you!
Gorgeous
