I like that life’s big questions aren’t a problem they are just a mystery. You don’t have to solve it it’s just a mystery. The fact that it is a mystery keeps you intrigued and keeps you going. Embrace the mystery. If the mystery wasn’t there then you would top of yourself because you’ll be bored.
The purpose of the universe is to provide a vessel for intelligence to express itself. The purpose of life is to increase intelligence in the universe. The purpose of humankind is to discover and deploy technology (the application of knowledge). The purpose of each individual human life is to serve the betterment of our world. The purpose of knowledge is to improve the human condition.
Universal God: My thought: God is our explanation for the causation of reality. Since we do exist in our reality and God is our vision for the creation of reality, then God does exist. We just do not have knowledge of the nature of God. With that said: humans have differing opinions on God. That is a fact. But, that fact does not establish the truth about God. Our beliefs about God should serve to improve lives not cause conflict among humans. So we need to redirect religion to serve the best interest of both God and God's creation.
Everything is subject to the point of view of the beholder. Meaning is fleeting. It is simply created conditionally as it is formulated. If I'm learn to be good at something. Then meaning grows with it. We literally grow meaning into our lives by way of our decisions. What we decide to do as we go along trying to figure out what we are doing

Life is here to be lived . I live with schizophrenia and my unique life is worthwhile to me . I struggled with nihilism too . Tolstoy was teenage reading for me . I found meaning in Spinoza's God. Living on the edge of meaning is no longer appealing.
At 86 I think that Tolstoy's impasse was his early happiness at 50. To have everything that he had missed in early age, and conquered in his life toward 50 was his problem. An abyss of life without challenges and possibility of success, a form of living death, that he could not hope to change. He was a living death until the end. The only consolation was found in forgetting himself and thinking about the life of other people, mostly poor people. P.S. We are in reality eternal through the formation and dissolution of our atoms. Life and death in an eternal exchange. The only consolation is the appreciation of the beauty of the world, while we are temporarily alive in our form or any other.
We are forever condemned to not having the answers to our existential doubts, this is the human situation, which perhaps death will overcome. To remedy this, we have music, philosophy and religion.

This is very good. I would add that faith in something larger than oneself can also bring a real sense of belonging. Our culture has us believe that we are individuals only. We are by this estranged from not only others but from the world we live in and nature. Faith is not the same as belief. The happiness comes in seeing that our life's quality comes from being in reciprocal relationships with others, giving and receiving and not only considering our own interest.
