  • Will installing the new pulley and drive belt on our 2015 ‪@CubCadetCA‬ XT1 be a walk in the park, or will it push me over the edge? There's only one way to find out: watch on!

    I love the Cub Kaput moniker. Some of these lawn tractors can be downright difficult to work on. When I work on our John Deere I tend to use quite colorful language.

      Haha, and I notice practically half my subdivision has Cub zero-turns! Ours has generally been excellent, if I'm honest. Glad I won't be doing another drive belt any time soon!

    On my Husqvarna GTH2548, I discovered that the floor plate was easy to remove and gave me much better access to the pulleys from above. My damaged pulley was a V pulley and not an idler, and was not as badly damaged, so I am going to try to keep using it. My drive belt did repeatedly pop off and destroyed itself, and the damaged pulley didn't help, but I think the main cause was because the pulley mounting bracket was bent, so the pulleys were out of alignment. I found it reasonably easy to bend back the mounting bracket, maybe a little too easy because it is none too stiff. My pulley froze because the bearing seized, either from rust or lube starvation or both.
    I should order a new belt at least, but I might happen to have one the right size in my collection, so I am holding off until I can get out there and look through my junk. I bet graphite powder in silicone grease would lube these pulley bushings pretty well. I Also noticed that most of the replacement pulleys, for mine, are steel rather than plastic. Also mine is on there really tight, so I'm not sure I can get it off easily, which is another reason to try to run it with the damaged pulley.

      I had definitely thought about attacking it from the top! But I think a lot of things would have had to come off.

    Maybe some goats or sheep would be better option and they provide grass control and a great Sunday roast or some yummy salami when a bit older.

      Haha, funny enough, Mrs. Kat wants goats in the worst way! I like them, too. We have a nearby goat farm that raises the nicest little Nigerian dwarf goats.

      Hi Isaiah! Are you asking about the pulley on the engine? I just unbolted it and it came right off. I expected a fight but it didn't give me any! I'm guessing yours is not coming off so easily!

    • @ShopKatIndustries
      @ShopKatIndustries  4 месяца назад

      @@isaiahtorres91 some times it's fix it or f... it lol! There's a square key in there so it might be hanging up on that. It's not going to be very easy to use a 3-jaw puller on and the risk of bending the pulley would be basically 100% I think!

    Does that spacer need to go on a certain way or is it reversible

    • @ShopKatIndustries

      The one above the drive pulley is reversible; as for the ones on the belt pulley, I just can't remember...I think it was not reversible.
