Thank you, prior to watching this I had inadvertently placed the battery upside down (as its not obvious) and, as I have also just had a car battery change assumed that the key had lost its memory and needed reprogramming £105). However following your directions I turned the battery the right way up (I must be getting old) and saved myself the time and money.... Thank you.

Thanks for the refresher on opening up. using cheap batteries played havoc with low batt warnings and resetting of trip data in my car after they got changed on a service. Took the dealership a good few hours and calls to vauxhall to then say it was down to cheap batteries they put in. Dont try to save a quid, get decent batteries.
