I always found it funny how in the show the bats didn’t even talk 😂🙏 They were essentially just mindless beasts lol. Either way these mods are AWESOME! Great work!
Now hear me out you know how the turaga of ice for g1 bionicle spoke in whistles chirps and other nature sounds, maybe all of the bats speak like this being in tune to the ambience of their dark caves

When the bat tribe sets first came out, I would rebuild Batman sets into bat tribe sets, was really clawsome and pawsome. Such a cool video:3
You should get the spider and Scorpions I have the Lion tribe the mammoths a Scorpion a few tiger tribe members I got the phoenix too and the vultures And wolfs!
Holy moly, when the Scuttler came into frame, if you had played something like Ridley's screech from Metroid Fusion, I would have properly soiled myself!
Not only is the face terrifying, with the full set of razor-sharp teeth and the giant nostrils and eyes, but also the pose, with its long, outstreched, dead straight arms!
Unlike normal bats, which are very scuttly and shy, this thing has a vibe of moving slowly and not fearing anything, which in turn induces even more fear in the beholder (or, even worse, the beheld).
Scuttler for ten dollars?
Sometimes I have hard time believing things like when I see your mod and compare it to original build and apparently they're supposed to be related at one point before modifications...
But that price... Who did you held at a studshooter point?

I saw someone buy the fangpyre wrecking ball from 2012 Ninjago for 5 dollars in 2020 so I don't doubt it

I’ve always been somewhat fond of Chima but your revamps have made me really fall in love with the theme and after I finish a few projects I’ve been working on I plan to make some Chima stuff like fleshing out the beaver tribe more

Chima is incredible! It's one of the most organic and original looking themes of all lego themes. The show is also gorgoeus! I'm glad more people are liking Chima.
As someone who owns the scuttler, I always found it out of place with everything else. This mod fits it perfectly in place and I love it. Awesome vid!
That bat tribe scuttler is so cool! I could see it being used in the show. With the heros getting closer to the final Dark Tribe stronghold and almost all of the legend beasts free the Dark Tribes would rush to build something that they could use as a sort of final boss in a last ditch attempt to stop the allied Chima tribes. The bats would constantly be building this thing out of scrap metal and plugging in as much Chi as they could without overloading it in order to make it as strong as possible. When Laval, Cragger, Eris and the rest finally get there, the bat tribe scuttler would step out of the dark and let out an ear piercing scream. That's how well this mod fits into the look and feel of Chima!
That reveal of the Scuttler got an audible “Whoa” out of me. It looks amazing!

I just rewatched the chima vid the other day. I do wish past year one, they fleshed out the new tribes like this. Very cool mocs.
If you told me that the Scuttler was originally designed for the Bat Tribe but they couldn’t fit it into the budget for that year, and just saved it for Batman I would not be surprised.
All the subtle details of the Scuttler just make me squeal. The big pointed ears, the snout, the long legs looking like folded wings… It’s such a clever mod, and I can’t help but wish that this had been a real set. Heck, it looks official enough. This is a 10/10.

These Chima mod videos are always so good, ive been enjoying them the most.
I used the purple bat speedor head as an _actual_ head for one of my bonkle MOCs, and to this day, it's still my favorite current bonkle MOC.
Excellent MODs! I never would have thought of using the Scuttler! and to think I just disassembled it last month, Oh well, awesome job as usual!

That ear clip connection is brilliant! I’m currently working through some aquazone Mocs, and have started on building some aquasharks, I’ve picked up some airplane tails and they have that exact same type of edge that can connect a clip too so I want to use them in a similar way to what you did with the ears. Really enjoying your mods.

All the piston detailing is probably what makes the scuttled seem more rugged than the other Lego Batman Movie builds.
Bats are one of my favorite animals. I incorporate bat wings into many, many of my character and creature designs.
Scuttler looks impressive! Love the design, although I think the back could have been beefed up a bit. But that head is spot on, looks amazing! Well done nick, you always somehow out do your self!
This series has inspired me so many times I’ve been making my own Chima mods for example a mod for the Lego Ninjago Ultra Stealth Raider as a combining vehicle with all the 1st year good guy tribes.

The scuttler mod was a long time coming! The two other mods you've made are also great, I especially like the stud snooters.
The bat tribe mods might be my favourite of your series so far!
Heck, I've never really liked the sets from those two waves, but after your videos I'm gonna give them a real chance. I've found in the past that sometimes, sets that don't appeal to you just from the box art can actually turn out to be awesome, so maybe I'll then feel compelled to collect them all 😅
That bat scuttler is SO DAMN COOL! If it were me I would give it some huge wings with some chrome bits here and there. You did a great job on that bat head but in my opinion it would look more cool with chrome teeth.

In the lego legends of chima Thirst for adventure Laval's Journey heroes quest book, it mentions the leader of the bats called bommerommer. Which makes sense since bats have (but not all species) echolocation. His name being a reference to an echo.

I just don't have time.... people keep asking me to do this but I'm already suffering health problems between comics, commissions what videos I CAN make and other things. I'm already working pretty much all day, every day.

The best part about that Scuttler revamp is that the actual Lego Batman Movies lets the OG Scuttler turn it's front legs into wings and fly. Imagine making an additional modification to this one to have a similar effect, even if you need to make it out of cloth or several smaller wings pieces or something. It's too perfect, it would be like a giant monstrous bat right out of your worst nightmare, especially with those large glowing/reflective eyes and it's large size compared any ordinary bat.
If I tried that, it would be a mess.

$12 Scuttler is quite a deal. I've been able to get about $200 worth of sets for $25 once. Guess some folks aren't entirely aware of the value that bricks have. Great find.
O and the Scuttler is the greatest thing you could do not only for the bat tribe, but as a final boss for the dark tribes

One vehicle that would be cool to see Chima bat-ified would be Misfortune's Keep from Ninjago. The big wings on the side could be made more bat like, and the sharp, jagged pieces of wood and the hangar as a whole could be modified to resemble the mouth as a bat with several teeth sticking out. The tail part on the back could be made to resemble ears, making the ship into a large bat's face with large wings on the sides and a huge mouth that bats and their vehicles can fly out of.
I can picture that... but I've already modded a Misfortune's Keep for the Ravens.
I’m planning to mod the Infinity War Benatar for the Bat tribe as their Big Boi vehicle. Remove the front glass, recolour and slightly redesign the front to extenuate the bat like qualities, lengthen the spikes on the back of the wings, Completely redo the cockpit, and seal off the cargo hold. Then replace the entry ramp with a cell door, add Talons to the back facing fins after thickening them, like it captures chimans by raising the ends of the wings, moving the back fins out, then swooping down. After that, the generic Chi crystal and recolour, then after that it’s done. Might even convert The Flying Fox while I’m at it. Definitely two outside the box ideas

This kind of makes me wonder why they didn't make more sets for the Dark Tribes. These guys were so underdeveloped, next to the Mammoths and Sabertooths.
Your MOCs are amazing! It's a bit sad that you don't do worldbuilding MOCs (like the Eagle Spire), but the machines are great! I'm excited to see Raven builds, because their culture is definetly one of the most underdevelopped ones (alongisde the bats, which I'm very happy you made a build about them). I know you don't accept ideas and stuff, but, if you do make a Raven MOC some day, maybe make a mining machine, with a drill that looks like a raven's beak (because ravens like shiny things, so they would probably mine), or a scrap detector, with "magnets", because it's cannon that they use scraps from other tribes to make their own objects. Chima has fantastic worldbuilding and cultures for a lego theme, so seeing it explored by fans would be amazing!
Yeah sorry, I'm just a more mechanically-minded guy. Never been too good with architecture. I do have something "in the wings" for the Raven Tribe though, and it's probably my finest work yet.

Plus, you mentioned a possible skunk tribe mod a while ago so I'd like to see if I can guess it just for fun: either Scarecrow's thresher machine from the Batman set in 2016, the Rattlecopter from Ninjago redone in black and white.

I mean.... it's pretty much the go-to for Bat Tribe suggestions. That or the Batwing.
@@NickonPlanetRipple personally I don't get suggesting the Batwing, its just a plane with a few bat-features, the Scuttler? its a full on Bat-Walker, its distinct and odd, perfect for Chima's world
The Bat Tribe was my least favorite of the Dark Tribes when they were revealed, but after seeing the work you've done on them, I do think it was the lack of set representation. You've made them just as good as the Spiders and Scorpions.
Also, I've been working on mods for Ninjago's Oni (As they never got any models, just a minifig pack). Already modded Spindrax's bike from Monkie Kid. Watching this video, I realized that the Bat's color scheme is basically the Oni's, but with green and a bit more purple.
For some reason, this has just inspired me to grab the new Black Panther Mech tomorrow when I go shopping. I'm planning on modding that and the Tech Wizard Showdown from Nexo Knights into some kind of double mech final boss for the Oni. Darn it, Nick, you're inspiring me and draining my wallet at the same time!

Technically you weren't wrong about Cree Summer being BA's voice actress, as she voiced her in Transformers Animated, you just got the shows mixed up and wanted to refer to Venus Terzo, but yes that Thorax/abdomen mixup did urk my entomologist-side a tiny bit ^^;
These mods have been a treat to watch, and gives me ideas for what MOCs I want to build, it's been real fun, great work Nick =)

My personality for the Bat Tribe would be Gothic Punk. Basically they are a gang hired by the Scorpions and Spiders as scouts and aerial transports but share no love for the other tribes and most of them has a moody or dramatic attitude.
It’s surprising that Nick hasn’t done a mod for a space theme

I was trying to modify Laval's Royal Fighter cannon to prevent it from hitting the pilot's head, until I succeeded, but it was in a kind of "primitive" way, using 1 by 1 brick studs fitted into the holes of the technic pieces ( I don't know if this technique is illegal or not).
Finally some love for the lovely bat creatures!~
With all those MOCs though, do you plan on making like, a new story? Comic, novel, anything?
