When we were both adults, I told my best friend I used to have a crush on him when we were teens. I could tell he was flattered by the notion. We still have a strange close connection, ever since we were teens. And yes, strangers to this day often think we are bf/gf. But he’s gay and I think I always knew (he only officially came out when he was in his twenties) Some times it’s not a romantic connection, or not vice versa anyway, but it can still be deep and meaningful. All the signs mentioned in the vid here refer to us both, except he has been in two longterm relationships and I have also been with someone off and on. But we love eachother, he knows if he ever needs a kidney that he can have mine. I told him one drunk Christmas (and later confirmed when I was sober that the deal still stands) It’s kinda like soulmates, without the romantic element in it. Ah, reminds me of my OCs, Courtney and Stella. They've been best friends since kindergarten and are now in high school. Courtney’s been starting to have feelings for Stella. It would be helpful to remind people that best friends often do help each other when the other one is feeling down. Things like this have been used against me when I was falsely accused of having these feelings for someone who I never had those feelings for. I've already stopped making good friends with members of the opposite sex so I can avoid my intentions being mistaken. If we can't help each other when we're feeling down without it being mistaken for flirting, that's not exactly the definition of a good friendship, much less best friends. I now have to limit myself to almost never speaking, never hanging out, never asking how their day is going (which I used to do with my friendships with both men and women), never texting, never calling, and never excited to see them in public. Basically, a weak friendship that is borderline to acquaintanceship. If I have a crush on someone, I'm direct about it. That hasn't spared me from being mistaken, though. So, it'll help to remind people that some of these are not always a sign.

(he's my first crush so far). slowly it becomes less torture, but still strong feelings for him. slowly he shows more signs of liking me. i'm still awkward around him at times. i might feel less weird about it once i'm 18, next year. he's currently 19, and i feel like it might be a slightly less weird age gap once i'm 18. and also i don't feel ready to say anything, not until i mature a little more. best to improve in the self, because how do you expect to be there for someone if you can't take care of yourself? (i have been improving for the past 2 years, quite a lot actually. but i still don't quite feel ready just yet). i think over time i'll try to get over my awkwardness and be more open, and form a stronger connection.

When we were both adults, I told my best friend I used to have a crush on him when we were teens. I could tell he was flattered by the notion.
We still have a strange close connection, ever since we were teens. And yes, strangers to this day often think we are bf/gf.

Some times it’s not a romantic connection, or not vice versa anyway, but it can still be deep and meaningful.

It would be helpful to remind people that best friends often do help each other when the other one is feeling down. Things like this have been used against me when I was falsely accused of having these feelings for someone who I never had those feelings for. I've already stopped making good friends with members of the opposite sex so I can avoid my intentions being mistaken. If we can't help each other when we're feeling down without it being mistaken for flirting, that's not exactly the definition of a good friendship, much less best friends. I now have to limit myself to almost never speaking, never hanging out, never asking how their day is going (which I used to do with my friendships with both men and women), never texting, never calling, and never excited to see them in public. Basically, a weak friendship that is borderline to acquaintanceship. If I have a crush on someone, I'm direct about it. That hasn't spared me from being mistaken, though. So, it'll help to remind people that some of these are not always a sign.

I am a college student, and she is transferring to my school come the next spring, and she plans on being my roommate. i remember going to hang out with my friend, one on one, really nervous, and when i saw him, first thought was "hi, i'm... terrified?...".
the thing is, i think he likes me, and so does everyone else around me, but he's like family, because he's known my family for so long. i think we're both too scared to say anything because it might seem weird.
i'm not too sure what happened, i hadn't seen him much for years, then one day we met up again, and he seemed surprised to see me, as a young teen.
one day he vented, and i started to think about him everyday, wondering if he's ok, what i could do, what he's currently up to. and then i realized how much i care about him. and then at some point i started getting really awkward and nervous around him, got quite the shock when all of a sudden my heart was going all over the show at one point in the library, when i was not at all expecting him to be there. (he's my first crush so far). slowly it becomes less torture, but still strong feelings for him. slowly he shows more signs of liking me. i'm still awkward around him at times.
i might feel less weird about it once i'm 18, next year. he's currently 19, and i feel like it might be a slightly less weird age gap once i'm 18. and also i don't feel ready to say anything, not until i mature a little more. best to improve in the self, because how do you expect to be there for someone if you can't take care of yourself?
(i have been improving for the past 2 years, quite a lot actually. but i still don't quite feel ready just yet).
i think over time i'll try to get over my awkwardness and be more open, and form a stronger connection.
