I've ridden the this ride numerous times and that seems to be the "legend" of the ride. I'm not sure if it's true but when you ride back there it feels like it lol.

+Olenska You can feel the last car in the train get air born and bounce after it comes back down on drops. It's probably impossible for it to come all the way off, it's just an added thrill to the ride.

It FEELS like it, but there would have to be a massive failure in that last cart
for it to physically leave the track .....

I worked there the summer of 93. Got my son a season pass. This was his favorite ride. He called it the "Screamee-knee-gall" I said he could ride IF he was tall enough - he'd JUST turned 4 in July, so I thought I'd hit the perfect dodge cause I HATE roller coasters ... but no. He was tall enough by a full half an inch! [ He's 6'6" now ] I had to ride that danged thing 24 times ... He still loves roller coasters and he still remembers that summer too.

The Screamin’ Eagle may seem fairly tame compared to today’s coasters, but I think it still delivers. Forget about inversions, AIRTIME is what coaster fans want, and this one has it in spades. I like the third hill. That’s where she really picks up speed, roaring to the finish. Great, great coaster.

Exactly! I love how much airtime you get on this. I rode it yesterday and was flying out my seat (I was in the very back) and loved every second of it! I love this ride. It's definitely my favorite at the park.

Help me out, as I'm not the coaster enthusiasts you are: is "airtime" the amount of time you spend literally elevated off the seat, or something else? TIA!

Agreed. Also by putting the big drop after a flat, lateral cruise, you equalize the thrill (terror) between the front & back car. By having the drop immediately after the big first hill climb, (most coasters) the front car gets a watered down thrill. And the back car gets a terrifying one (maybe a little too scary) This is because in a conventional design, the weight of the last few cars won't allow the front car to begin accelerating until it's at least 1/4th, maybe more, down the hill. And the back car starts accelerating before it's even reached the top.

I first rode The Screaming Eagle in 1978 and loved it. It's been about 10 years since I've ridden it, having moved a long way away now. But whenever I travel back home to Wisconsin and pass the park while traveling on Hwy. 44 (?) I always look over and see this beautiful coaster, nestled nicely back in the wooded hillside. If memory serves, the first drop is 92' and the second biggest drop (third hill) is 87'.

No joke this is actually my favorite ride in the park and I ride it at least twice every time I visit. I especially love how you leave your seat quite a bit during airtime. It does kinda feel like it's gonna fall apart any moment, but that's part of the thrill of riding it.

This was my first large coaster back in 2007 when I was six. Every year when we'd go up to visit family in St. Louis (we're from Springfield) we'd go to Six Flags and I'd ride this coaster almost all day. Looking back I feel really bad for my cousins because they wanted to go ride the bigger rides but I didn't want to. Now I'm sixteen and I've gone to many more amusement parks and ridden more coasters, but the Screaming Eagle is still one of my favorites. The ejector air time is just so amazing! And it is still smooth!

We traveled from Chicago and went for a day. This park is not very good for flat rides; the park layout is confusing, but this coaster is excellent. The height requirement is quite low--42." My 5 year old went on it with me and quite honestly, I thought he was a goner. Somehow he survived, but the ride was probably way too intense for him.
