This is one of the rides that you should put your hands in the air for. Theres such a nice breeze and it feels like you're flying

That sounds about right. I gotta get back there one of these days. The last time I went to Great America, Shockwave was still around (we rode it two or three times in a row, no line, because it was that unpopular).

Blue side sucks. If they time it out it works. It doesn't , they are 16 yr olds pushing a button. Red side has more of a ride though.
Man...going through these vids bring back memories...im only 23 now, but it makes me feel 50. We used to go to GM almost every season since I was about 9. Makes me miss Illinois so much

American Eagle....this ride is so special to me because Its the only roller coaster I have a personal bond with.
While it may not be in my top 5 in the park, I love love love this thing. The first time I went to Six Flags Great America in 2009 or 10, I was not tall enough to ride some of the other rides, but this ride I was able to get on and my little 9 year old self was blown away. This may have not been my 1st coaster ever, but I just love this ride so much.
Every time I go to Six Flags Great America, I always have gone on this ride EVERY TRIP.

During spring, summer and fall.
In the morning, afternoon, beautiful sunsets, evenings, twilight, dusk, and even very late at night being one of the last riders of the day.
I have experienced a full moon on this ridden this both on a harvest and blood moon, starry sky’s, on hot and cold days, during sunshine, rain, and breezy winds.
I also rode this 2 times on my birthday on November 6th.
This even has been my final rides of the year before the off season begins.
I am not lying, because of all these experiences on this iconic woodie, I never ignore riding it.
The ride is kinda getting rough and it does not duel much like it used to......but I don’t care.😉
People who want RMC to turn this into a hybrid: 👎 I’m sorry but I actually disagree. Yeah it would be cool: but I like Eagle the ways it is! GCI retracking I’m fine with!
Call me silly but every time I get off the ride, I don’t leave the station just yet, I give the train I ride a pat on the front and say: “Thanks buddy! Keep staying strong!* 😊
While this ride may not last forever I want this ride to last for a super long if it can.

I went a few days ago with my cousins, my brother and mom. Me and my cousin went together when they got food. The blue part wasn't working and literally right when we got to the part where you choose your team, they opened the blue one up again so we were the test dummies for the blue side 😳👌🏼😂
I'd be so scared 😳 in fact I just went today and when I was in line for Superman, and it had an hour or so delay. So I left and got on later cuz I didn't want to be to first person on again 😂

It was a coaster that used to be at Great America that made me into the complete coaster enthusiast that I am today - Shockwave. But I admit I had a blast riding the Eagle in 1991 when one of the trains was turned around backwards (I think it was the blue side).

I love American Eagle and without trims this ride slaps and even with trims it’s pretty good.
I remember there was a time when the blue track used to go backwards. That was always a blast. I feel like though last time I went on this, it was very shaky and wasn't as smooth as I remember.
i remember that! it was scary but fun. that was also around the time when Vertical Velocity used to do that brake before the final rush through the spires. It was scary as hell to just be hanging there lol sad they took both of those elements out

I remember the park was closing for the day and my siblings and I ran to this one. It was our first time but we had fun. I found that screaming when going down on a drop really helps u with that crazy feeling in ur stomach lmao

Wow brings back memories of being a kid and staying with my cousins in Chicago and being dropped off there to ride stuff all day. Sooooo much fun... That and the pizza are my enduring memories of being a kid and vacationing in the good ol USofA. WHOOOO HOOO

I've been riding this since '83, and it's still the best ride in the park. Nothing beats the front seat at night! Also, one of my funniest memories is riding this with my mom, who was wearing a tube top at the time. I look over at her, and her top had fallen down and her boobs were a'bouncin"!!
The only ride I absolutely love to ride... AND ITS CLOSED THE FIRST DAY I COME BACK!!!!
Sit in the back of the train, leave plenty of room between your thighs and the lap bar, keep your seat belt fairly loose, and I guarantee you, the airtime will be absolutely incredible. Almost as insane as Storm Chaser's.
The Coaster Army this is still one of the fastest wooden coasters in the world and those airtime hills definitely don't mess around.

Slotten68 Well, I was on this roller coaster when I was at Six Flags Great America, of course it is old! This Theme Park ride was built in 1981 and was built out of wood, but the track is reinforced together with Steele, but it is still a wooden roller coaster because the rest of it is made out of wood.

Oh I missed this one when I was there. I wasnt impressed with this park AT ALL but this looks fun. I hope they dont mess with this one. No RMC unless they just use topper track on it and dont change the layout AT ALL.

American eagle is an odd coaster. Im not saying its bad! American eagle is legit one of my favorite coasters ever! Ut the red side has an advantage because it has a shorter route than the blue side based on the helix turnaround. But the blue sides chain lift actually goes faster by a bit and doesnt really slow down that much at the top. But the red sides brakes dont slow down the cart by much unlike the blue track which slows down a lot.

luke you should be okay... the viper isn't as big as this one but they're pretty similar. You shouldn't have a problem with this

Well i know im totally interrupting the conversation between you two (btw luv your channel james) but i just recently went to six flags great america and rode this ride and man was it fun but V2 is s completely different style than american eagle. Ive never actually rode V2 because im also a wuss. But i think you should ride it. If i cant ride uit than ill make sure someone else will have an awesome expirience. But just know V2 is very extreme and isint thst much in common with AE so if you do decide to ride V2 dont be too suprized if its not what you thought it would be
