Seat belts aren’t even needed on coasters. #2: “Alpine Coasters” are technically sled rides #1: Rollbacks are safe and are frequent due to the nature of the hydraulic launch system.
Anna Rice they aren’t necessary. They’re only there to decrease liability. The lapbar/shoulder harness automatically locks in the station and can never be unlocked unless you have a certain key for the train or the train pulls back into the station. Seatbelts aren’t required by safety officials because they know just how safe the restraints are alone.
Anna Rice The way the restraints work are quite ingenious. There’s a small switch on the bottom of the train that when pushed up unlocks the restraints and when pushed down locks the restraints. The switches are spring locked and when the train rolls into the station, a bar beneath the track rises to push the switch up, which unlocks the restraints. Since they are spring loaded into the down position, there is physically no way to unlock a restrain without a hydraulic bar (press) underneath the track.

lol that hilarious thumbnail you used. you definitely got me here from that, but sadly i don't have time to watch the video. maybe another time! good job with the thumbnail.
Why the hell is someone, who hates rides, doing a top 10 deadliest? Also these aren't the most deadly, or even the biggest adrenaline rush rides out there. The stratosphere is a pretty tame ride.
Especially that seatbelt one, it’s hilarious to think that people believe this is deadly. The seatbelt is there just to make sure if the hydraulic lock fails (which almost never happens) it’s still safe. Hell I’ve ridden a Vecoma Slc with my seat unbuckled and here I am!
@@Dr-Peppy I've only ever ridden SFA's Mind Eraser and I don't remember it having an actual seatbelt, just a belt to keep the OTSR down in case the locking mechanism failed.
Well, the problem is that if a death occurred on a coaster. The coaster would be inspected on maintenance and everything also will most likely be shutdown FoorEvvEr
@Im her You have a 1 in 750 million chance of dying on a roller coaster. You're more likely to die in the car, in the shower, using a toothpick, or even using a vending machine. You have a higher chance of being STRUCK BY LIGHTNING then dying on a roller coaster. Trust me. They're safe.
3:27 but you have more of a chance to get struck by lightning then die in a roller coaster. You actually have a higher chance of dying in the next 10 minutes then dying on a roller coaster. You have a 1 in 750 million change of dying on one. The changes of getting struck by lightning is 1 in 100,000
@Pete Jones True, even so more than 2 million people ride most major coasters every year in the us. there are about 750 coasters in the us, and lets say that one seventh of them are "major" meaning 200million riders ride just those coasters every year. Plus the maybe 500,000-1,000,000 riders that ride the other coasters. Lets say that this comes to about 500 million riders rode coasters in the US last year. 0 of them, died, and if you look at injury reports, you'll see that most were people falling while exiting the ride vehicle.
@Pete Jones Fair enough. I understand a fear of coasters mainly because they are made to seem very intimidating. I am actually afraid of heights, but for some reason, roller coasters and thrill rides don't bother me (other then drop towers) and I have always loved going on roller coasters whenever I can. It also reassures me that I know how these rides work, and how overengineered they are, and how many of the safety measures found on modern coasters have never even been used. If it makes you feel better, there were also no deaths via coaster in all of europe last year :).
the only way one would be in danger is If the thing you pull down (idk what they're called) and hold onto came loose or just didn't lock down in the first place

There's only one narrator here? How can there be an amount of GP over 1 with a single narrator? Just because you're an enthusiast doesn't mean you can do math :D
Number 2 really isn't that bad, I've been on lots of these 'alpine roller coasters' and they're actually really fun, even if you choose to not slown down at the turns! Everyone should at least try it once❤️
@@DylanBroadhead-wd3me I’m referring to the video, he ranked an alpine coaster higher than oblivion which is a ride designed to strike fear in the riders. He never ranked smiler and if he did it was higher than the alpine coaster
For the record, I didn't actually fall for this ridiculous thumbnail, just game to critique each pick and point out some more things wrong with this First off, the creator of the video literally admitted to being a coaster gp....sounds like the type to make this list huh! Second, two of these rides aren't even roller coasters. They're flat rides you can find at any carnival. Also not to mention that thumbnail quite obviously being fake, so clearly the videos targeted to people who don't know anything about roller coasters either Also this guy made literally two other coaster videos, both having a real ride in their thumbnail but just photoshopped to look thousands of feat high. Don't fall for it, the ride is called top thrill dragster and it's at cedar point, so if you really want to see it then look that up. Alright let's get in to why each pick is bad shall we.. #10: Gravity Max Being completely honest, I can sort of see why this one would make it in. But this guy admitted that the ride itself wasn't all that crazy, so that kinda goes against it don't you think!? #9: Wicked Twister Okay, first off, there are multiple versions of this ride and this isn't the only one. Second, the ride is barely all that tall and doesn't have much of a top speed either, and I'll say from experience that going backwards on a coaster really is a lot less intense than going forwards but that's the whole point of this ride. I can only see this being scary for those who aren't actually coaster enthusiasts as oppose to people who've ridden a lot of coasters before seeing this, so I guess I'll give you that much. #8: Ultra Twister: The ride only has 3 inversions, and the only thing that makes them different from a normal twist is that they're in a tunnel that makes it look like it's doing more than just that, and also the ride barely has a drop. This pick should've been the ride with the world's most inversions, but really? #7: Slingshot This is probably the most frustrating pick on this list, first off, it's not even the tallest of it's kind in the world. Second, yes there are hundreds of clones of this very ride. And Third, it's not even a roller coaster. It's a flat ride you can find at your local carnival or just about any theme park out there. Besides, you could've at least chose the one that broke on video #6: Stratosphere Hotel Flat Ride Thingy Once again, not a coaster. But assuming this ride did belong on this list, I'll just say that this ride may be insane for it's spectacular view and dangling aspect, there are far more thrilling rides over much higher places. There's a swing ride over a mountain that goes at high speeds over a hundred feet high called Giant Canyon Swing at Glenwood Caverns. At least choose that one. #5: Galactica This ride isn't fast paced at all whatsoever, it's not tall or anything, what makes this ride great is the beautiful scenery but that doesn't make it an insane ride. If you were looking for a more intense model of this kind of ride then you could've at least chose Superman Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Over Georgia, and even then, it's not worthy of this list. #4: Saw The Ride Once again, it may be well themed and all but it's slow paced, not tall, and just not all that unique and insane. You once again missed the chance to put the ride with the most inversions here, or the steepest drop in the world. They're both the exact same coaster model as this one. #3: Oblivion This ride is only on this list because someones seat belt came loose on video, which barely actually affected the restraint mind you. The ride itself probably isn't on any real enthusiast's list because once again, the ride experience itself just isn't worthy. #2: Demeanor's Alpine Coaster Once again.. There are much more intense versions of this ride, and if you really think someone died on this, the research is really quite easy. #1: Kingda Ka Every enthusiast knows this ride for being the tallest in the world, and saw it coming on this list. I think this ride probably did deserve to be on this list just for that, but just because it has the height and the speed doesn't mean it's the most "deadly" coaster in the world. This was the only record breaking coaster on this list and you very well could've put the fastest, most inversions, or steepest drop instead of these random rides you saw in a cool thumbnail Alright that's my list!
Just so you know I clicked on this video fully knowing the thumbnail was fake. I was just curious what it has on the top ten with low expectations. Edit: for the record, these are not the most dangerous roller coasters/rides. Their just the scariest.
Upside Films just to be clear the uk rides on this list are not scary at all if Galactica is on here why the hell isn’t The Smiler, world record for the most inversions and has had the worst roller coaster accident in the uk in the 21st century. and if it was the scariest why the hell aren’t some of the rides at Blackpool pleasure beach on here.
Ok, you have me with your point, but all I’m trying to say is that these rides shown here aren’t dangerous, their just pretty scary. Not the scariest, just scary. And they should not be on a list of most dangerous roller coasters. On a list like this I would expect the smiler
Dan Trendall oh and also the only ride I was scared of at Thorpe was rush thanks to the constant fear of falling out of the restraint that doesn’t even feel safe
Got to ride Kraken, when it was virtual reality ( only for a short time, then they stopped ) But I have to say, it’s one of the most amazing coaster rides you’ll ever have ! I think people that don’t like roller coasters would really enjoy the virtual reality ones, your so immersed in the scene, it’s all you can see, so the movement of the coaster “feel” like the movie moments, you can’t even tell when your going upside down. A must do for any coaster lover ☮️💟&🦄’s
some can because of roughness but still. asking for death is way to far, there hasn't been a known death on a coaster because of the coaster in a long time. it's usually just someone with a condition not listening to the advice to not ride if you do
@@caldin so the point of the seatbelt is that it holds you down in the car… i wonder what other component of the rollercoaster holds you down lmao. the seatbelt is there as a redundancy, not as an essential part of the coaster. trust me, the restraints are much more reliable than the seatbelt (a dumb rider could undo the seatbelt and make people have to stop the ride, you can’t undo the restraint at all mid ride)
1:50 is not going to leave you dizzy compared to the rides at Six Flags In Illinois! Literally rides there will go in 60 mile per hour in more than 4 loops at a time. They also have trippy design and most leave your feet dangling! ALSO I FREAKING LOVE ROLLER COASTER IDC HOW DANGEROUS THEY ARE LITERALLY AWESOME :)
Roller coasters are one of the LEAST dangerous thing in the world! You have 1 out of 7 MILLION chance of dying!!! Why the hell is someone, who hates rides, doing a top 10 deadliest? Also these aren't the most deadly, or even the biggest adrenaline rush rides out there. The stratosphere is a pretty tame ride.
As a coaster enthusiast, this video made me lose brain cells.
It made me throw up 2-3 times.
@@Dr-Peppy since when do Vekoma SLCs have seatbelts? You mean the belt that connects the OTSR to the bottom of the seat?
@@jmanx360 the one near me has a buckle attached to the seats. It still has the god awful restraints from the old ones so that’s why.
@@Dr-Peppy I've only ever ridden SFA's Mind Eraser and I don't remember it having an actual seatbelt, just a belt to keep the OTSR down in case the locking mechanism failed.

Yes
@Im her You have a 1 in 750 million chance of dying on a roller coaster. You're more likely to die in the car, in the shower, using a toothpick, or even using a vending machine. You have a higher chance of being STRUCK BY LIGHTNING then dying on a roller coaster. Trust me. They're safe.
3:27 but you have more of a chance to get struck by lightning then die in a roller coaster. You actually have a higher chance of dying in the next 10 minutes then dying on a roller coaster. You have a 1 in 750 million change of dying on one. The changes of getting struck by lightning is 1 in 100,000
True but as you would think you would dodge it but no because you move into it
@Pete Jones True, even so more than 2 million people ride most major coasters every year in the us. there are about 750 coasters in the us, and lets say that one seventh of them are "major" meaning 200million riders ride just those coasters every year. Plus the maybe 500,000-1,000,000 riders that ride the other coasters. Lets say that this comes to about 500 million riders rode coasters in the US last year. 0 of them, died, and if you look at injury reports, you'll see that most were people falling while exiting the ride vehicle.
@Pete Jones also, those numbers I listed INCLUDE people re riding coasters.
Did you skip class the day they taught run-on sentences? Also, you misspelled two words.
8:19 You are in no danger at all if a seatbelt comes out, it's just an added layer of security.
the only way one would be in danger is If the thing you pull down (idk what they're called) and hold onto came loose or just didn't lock down in the first place
The seat belts on oblivion aren't even necessary it can also operate without the seat belts it is to give the guest a safer ride experience

Lion Feathers what the heck XD
For the record, I didn't actually fall for this ridiculous thumbnail, just game to critique each pick and point out some more things wrong with this
First off, the creator of the video literally admitted to being a coaster gp....sounds like the type to make this list huh!
Second, two of these rides aren't even roller coasters. They're flat rides you can find at any carnival. Also not to mention that thumbnail quite obviously being fake, so clearly the videos targeted to people who don't know anything about roller coasters either
Also this guy made literally two other coaster videos, both having a real ride in their thumbnail but just photoshopped to look thousands of feat high. Don't fall for it, the ride is called top thrill dragster and it's at cedar point, so if you really want to see it then look that up.
Alright let's get in to why each pick is bad shall we..
#10: Gravity Max
Being completely honest, I can sort of see why this one would make it in. But this guy admitted that the ride itself wasn't all that crazy, so that kinda goes against it don't you think!?
#9: Wicked Twister
Okay, first off, there are multiple versions of this ride and this isn't the only one.
#8: Ultra Twister:
The ride only has 3 inversions, and the only thing that makes them different from a normal twist is that they're in a tunnel that makes it look like it's doing more than just that, and also the ride barely has a drop. This pick should've been the ride with the world's most inversions, but really?
#7: Slingshot
This is probably the most frustrating pick on this list, first off, it's not even the tallest of it's kind in the world. Second, yes there are hundreds of clones of this very ride. And Third, it's not even a roller coaster. It's a flat ride you can find at your local carnival or just about any theme park out there. Besides, you could've at least chose the one that broke on video
#6: Stratosphere Hotel Flat Ride Thingy
Once again, not a coaster.
#5: Galactica
This ride isn't fast paced at all whatsoever, it's not tall or anything, what makes this ride great is the beautiful scenery but that doesn't make it an insane ride. If you were looking for a more intense model of this kind of ride then you could've at least chose Superman Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Over Georgia, and even then, it's not worthy of this list.
#4: Saw The Ride
Once again, it may be well themed and all but it's slow paced, not tall, and just not all that unique and insane. You once again missed the chance to put the ride with the most inversions here, or the steepest drop in the world. They're both the exact same coaster model as this one.
#3: Oblivion
This ride is only on this list because someones seat belt came loose on video, which barely actually affected the restraint mind you. The ride itself probably isn't on any real enthusiast's list because once again, the ride experience itself just isn't worthy.
#2: Demeanor's Alpine Coaster
Once again.. There are much more intense versions of this ride, and if you really think someone died on this, the research is really quite easy.
#1: Kingda Ka
Every enthusiast knows this ride for being the tallest in the world, and saw it coming on this list. I think this ride probably did deserve to be on this list just for that, but just because it has the height and the speed doesn't mean it's the most "deadly" coaster in the world. This was the only record breaking coaster on this list and you very well could've put the fastest, most inversions, or steepest drop instead of these random rides you saw in a cool thumbnail
Alright that's my list!
As an enthusiast, I watch these videos to test my patience

Somebody Came I'm sorry but none of the rides at black pool are scary...Thorpe park is ten times scarier than Alton towers.
Dan Trendall ok I admit I may have made a mistake saying the entire theme park but the amount of people petrified of the big one (Pepsi max) is unreal
Dan Trendall oh and also the only ride I was scared of at Thorpe was rush thanks to the constant fear of falling out of the restraint that doesn’t even feel safe
