Favourite drummer in the world..Saw him live recently was surreal. So much complexity and technique yet not over the top and serving the song first. The dynamics of this whole band is next level and love Einar's voice sounds like the studio. Totally mind blowing.
It's incredible what years of dedication can turn into. Of course he's very talented, but in general, people don't reach this level of mastery without a lot of hard work. Makes you feel as if drums are just extension of his body, he knows them intimately and thus can do drum wizardry It's really inspiring
Not a drummer but I can watch baard drum throughs all day and watched em all multiple times. Every leprous album is diffrent and fire too. Most dramatic theatrical band around and very prog.
Baard is such a tasteful drummer imo. Always a pleasure to listen to his drum parts. Not to mention watching him play is also so much fun. Great drummer
Baard is not only a drum beast, he can technically play anything, but the most valuable thing is how unique and recognizable is his style in a genre where 90% of drummers are interchangable and no one would notice. He knows how to sound like him and go against convenctions, specially in a sound like this one that relies in a simpler drum beat with a lot of silent sections, but he fills the space with "litchy details and ghost notes, it adds a lot to the nervous and urgency feel of the song.
Aside from being an absolute beast when the music calls for it, Baard really stands out even among his other great prog contemporaries with his dynamic use of that side snare and his unique accented phrases on the hi-hat. I absolutely love that he's able to craft interesting grooves in some of Leprous' more subdued songs where many other bands would substitute a drum machine for the acoustic kit. Adam Janzi of Vola is another standout in a similar vein. I'd love to see them tour together at some point.
I actually saw them play the same night in Stockholm once. Baard with Rendezvous Point followed by Arch Echo and then Vola with Adam (I think he was quite new in vola at that point). Fantastic evening and my musician friends that I dragged with me were amazed (they hadn't listened to any of the bands) 😄
Thanks so much to getting back to Baard! Last Friday I went and re-watched your previous reactions to Baard, hoping you would do another one soon. And my wish got granted! I am at a loss of superlatives when describing Baard's playing. If one day you get back to him: Nighttime Disguise is a MUST to react, very impressive playthrough! Take care Andrew!
I really liked how you reacted to the video of its entirety, and then went back and showed individual parts.. it's a way better format than stopping start
Is it me or is there a lot of Baard's style in Caleb H (ref 4:15), may be the loose elbows/wrists and head nod ? P.S. Seeing them next year, already excited.
man, so much talent! i've never seen or heard any of his stuff that wasn't executed with the right mix of taste, precision and power… and the power is where the great sound comes from.
He is amazing! You should check out his drum playthru of Nighttime disguise, it is a good song, with fan-voted sections during original recording and amazing drums (+ some good laughs as an extra add on) 🙂
I certainly agree with you about the hi-hat work. When he is letting the open hi-hat breathe like that right in between intricate rudiment work on the side snare and closed hats it just pulls you in!
I'm so proud to live in the same country as such a drum prodigy, I met him once and pointed him in the direction of the bathroom at a bar, as a huge fan of his drumming, that was kind of surreal to me.
Have seen them live about a year ago, absolutely insane to see him and the rest of the band perform on stage not missing any beat or hit 🤘🏼🔥 so for anyone wondering, yes..he/they can play that live :D
That's just it about Leprous - they absolutely can play all of that live, even in a more awesome way than on the records. And man, can Einar Solberg sing it all as well! First concert of theirs for me was in February and I am planning the next one next year! :)

Baard’s use of space, orchestration and power are masterful.

That song was pretty f√¢king rad. I should listen to more Leprous.
Yes bro. Yes, you definitely should. ;)
Good stuff, for sure. Also, 90% of my muscles are tensed up from just watching the man.
It's a workout just watching him!

That! Discovered Vola very recently, had same thoughts about the drummer, he is so in the zone while playing, absolutely love it!

Take care Andrew!
Cool seeing reactions to music from my small home town of Notodden!
Glad you dug it!!
@ Another great drummer from Notodden is Trym Torsson in Emperor. You find several drum cam Videos of him too.

Technically impressive yet deeply musical. Serves the composition and doesn’t overshadow it.
He's so intense, reminds me of a staffy chasing a ball, in a good way. just goes for it.
🤣🤣👍

💯🙌
Glad u did this! This song was great live.
I bet!
Love the triplet accents! 👌
👀
absolute banger of a song and drummer
Cool hat! 😅😎

How nice to see Baard and Leprous back on the channel! You should do Nighttime Disguise next to get some more epic Baard’nes on the channel ❤
I absolutely adore Leprous, can’t wait to watch
Baard is a monster. Also, what a great song.
He’s amazing. I’m also blown away by this album in general
Nice. Seeing them live was definitely one of my 2024 highlights.
I just saw them live not too long ago, I LOVE them very much
Baard just shared this vid on his socials, so there may be people incoming
PLEASE do a Shawn Crowder reaction he plays for the Prog Fusion band Sungazer! Absolute madman and rips weird time signatures.
So good! Saw him play this song live the other month!! P.s. also saw Gavin Harrison the other day ;)
🤘

Baard is a Amazing Drummer!
Check out something in a different style of Baard and Dj Boge with Kickslip 🤩🤩
Definitely one of the most great drummer of this era, technically of service of the music in first. Not technical of service of technique
Excelente ese sombrero vueltiao....🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴
Please adrew reacciona a Pride de Leprus
Challenge: learn drums for "Atonement" by Disgorge. 😂😁🤘
Live reacting Rooney > note-taking Rooney.
