You seem a delightful human! You also seem to enjoy so much that I almost feel we witnessed an immaculate coception of sorts ... lol . Thank you for the incredibly positive vibes!
I agree, Eden and Beneath my skin /mirror image are particularly beautiful. I would also recommend Below and At the bottom by Leprous. These are truly epic.
Dan is one of a very few vocalists that I would actually consider to be better than Einar. Though she'd be better off listening to something from Skyharbor, particularly off Guiding Lights; Tesseract is great, but his Skyharbor stuff is just a cut better.
Very glad you were able to get this unblocked Elizabeth! What a wonderful video. You're definitely right in that his screams are unlike anything that's been on the channel so far - clear black metal influence, which makes perfect sense considering his upbringing and the band's roots, although Einar has said on multiple occasions that he dislikes that he generally can't really push his screams the way he would like to and that they always come out too quiet. "Contaminate Me" from the same show at the Rockefeller is a perfect example of what he means by that and an amazing display of the insane talent within the Solberg/Tveitan family. Heidi (or as many of us know her, Ihriel) as well as her three brothers Einar, Kenneth and PZ (all of which have worked with her and Leprous or Peccatum) are awesome in their own right, the fact they were fortunate enough to have grown up with Ihsahn one of the pioneers of black metal as well as one of the best composers for metal in general turns to no surprise that Leprous sounds the way they do. I'm so happy they have been seeing the success they deserve.
I love Leprous, discovered them long before anyone knew about them, immediately became a fan, unlike the vast majority of vocal reaction channels, you're pretty synced with my taste, makes me happy that all this great music that I've been recommending for years is finally getting a bigger audience
Please look into Opeth, I know you would like how versatile the band is. Harlequin Forest live at the Royal Albert Hall or Ghost of Perdition live at Red Rocks are excellent examples.
I'm very happy to have found your channel. I've watched a bunch of reaction videos over the last year or two but I've come to love yours more than most. The face you make as you get excited is exactly how I feel like I look when listening to certain music. I grew up listening to my father play guitar and sing since I was in the womb and I've grown up in a household where music makes you weep the 1st time or 1000th time you hear a great song, or even part of a song, with encouragement. I've gotten to take my dad to as many concerts of music I love as he did for me when I was a kid. And even turned my grandmother onto A Perfect Circle, which she listens to every time she's in my car. =] My wife loves it when certain songs come on because the joy in my face is only really captured by a few things, and music is a continued source of that joy. She also asks me to explain to her what it is I love about the certain parts of songs (or entire songs) so I get to really delve into what it is and why I love it. So to be able to point to another person that has that same reaction I do is great. Some recommendations I have for unique and talented vocalists: Claudio Sanchez (with or without Coheed and Cambira): "Hello" (Adele cover, one beautiful voice covering another) "Atlas" (live, solo, acoustic cover of the song he wrote for his newborn son) and "Mother Superior" (acoustic version of a Coheed and Cambria song with the full band) are some of the live standouts. Anthony Green from Circa Survive: Anything really but I think the best show of his incredible and unique voice is on the youtube video of "Get Out (Myspace Transmissions)" Andrew Mailloux from Rishloo: This one would be harder to find. If you compare live recordings (all I could find is phone recordings so they have A LOT of noise and aren't the best quality) to the record, you can hear the record is a relatively untouched vocal track. Having seen them live a dozen or two times over the last 20 years I can confirm they sound very similar. I would check out "Scissorlips" or "Landminds" as the best showing of his vocal capabilities. Thank you for your content. Love the channel and I'll be going through the rest of your videos as fast as I can. Cheers
If you want to listen to more Leprous, you should check out The Sky Is Red - Live from 2020. Probably the most epic outro ever made in music history. Also, thank you for checking out my favorite band out all time
I just watched the drum play through about 15 minutes ago and it’s such an amazing composition. I don’t think I’ve ever seen drums played so smoothly yet so erratic at times. These guys are so fascinating.
Saw them live last year. Einar is amazing! His brother in law, Ihsanh, has a really awesome scream too. He performs on 'Contanimate me' from the same concert as this song. I also want to recommend (the late) Warrel Dane. I think he had classical training. Nevermore - Sentient 6 live.
I've heard this version of Slave probably over 100 times and it STILL gives me chills every single time the guitar/synth start up. This song and "Ethica Odini" by Enslaved, literally make me cry every time with how much emotion you can feel in the music. I love everything about it. Great video, as always.
The scream that he did, is a shrieking vocal style commonly used in Black Metal. A high pitshed demonic sounded scream that is full of emotion, pain, dispair and blends well with the sound of that genre. Atmospheric and/or symphonic black metal is a journey. As allways.. stay healthy!
Their live performances grip you by the throat and don’t let go until the very last note. Honestly, you forget to breathe. The whole world should know this band. Their music is so amazing!
The way you break things down in these makes me have a whole new appreciation and amazement for these artists! Absolutely love it! Thank you for what you do! You're awesome!
Einar's screams are very haunting. He sounds like the vengeful ghost of an old castle. Great pick, btw. Your reaction vas very sincere, and I like how you very aware of not just Einar's voice and style, but of the overall music, the intention. This channel is really good.
Leprous is probably my favourite band, and that is much to do with Einar's heartfelt voice! I just feel so connected with his and their message... They are amazing!
Finally you took on Leprous. Makes me happy when others like my favourite band. Next step for you on your Leprous journey must be "Aquired Taste" from the same concert. Not sure if I've seen(heard) anything like that. I guess it's my no 1 pick. Really like your vids, quite enjoyable and educational 🙂👍
I *love* how much you love Einar's voice and style. He's definitely one of my favorite singers and has one of the most unique tones out there, in any genre. Dripping emotion is definitely how is describe it. It's great watching you fangirl even though you're still basically brand new to them. The band is phenomenal as well. They aways make such interesting musical choices and I never tire of listening to them.
Such a great song, I was real happy to see this in my feed! I have a couple requests: Oathbreaker - 10:56 / Second Son Of R (Audiotree live) YOB - Adrift In The Ocean (Live @ Pickathon) Katatonia - July (from Live Consternation) Cult Of Luna - Ghost Trail (Live at Scala)
Such a great analysis of his voice. "Acquired Taste" from the same concert also does a great job showing off his range, musical interpretation, and timbre throughout!
Screaming and growling in heavy music is always supposed to show emotion. Sometimes it's meant to demonstrate strength and sometimes it's meant to convey pain.
Great reaction always! Einar is one of those singers whose voice js instantly recognisable and universally loved. I have shown leprous to many of my friends who dont even usually listen to this type of music and they all pointed out how amazing his voice is. Some other great songs for reactions are Contaminate Me (same concert) and Below (official video). They also have a ton of great music that i dont think is exactly reaction-friendly , but you should check out on your free time if you like what you have heard. On the subject of yodelling, my mind instantly went to Hocus Pocus by Focus. Bizzard and absolutely mind blowing song and performance in case you haven't heard it, I am 100% sure you will enjoy it thoroughly. As of other recommendations, I would love if you returned to Ayreon! Basically every song from the Ayreon universe concert is spectacular, in particular Everybody Dies (you can see Mike Mills again there), Intergalactic Space crusader, and from the Theater Equation live album , Day 2 is absolutely fantastic! Greetings from Greece and sorry for the long post 😅
Wow, I love how you're mirroring the things you like in his voice by talking about the singing with so much emotion and passion! I'm amazed and will check out more of your channel.
One thing I really think gets missed with Leprous is just how well orchestrated and arranged the music is. In this performance we have two drumkits with very different tones so as not to compete; we have bass guitar, an 8 string guitar, and a 6 string guitar, giving us effectively Bass, Baritone, and Tenor/Soprano voices; the synths to thicken up everything; and then Einar's phenomenal vocals sitting on top of it all. They are SO SMART when it comes to orchestration and arrangement.
I most appreciate music I can feel, music that gets better as I pay more attention until I have to stop whatever I was doing and just listen. Leprous is about as good as that gets.
Hi Elizabeth, I Loved this performance and your reaction! This is the 1st time listening to this very unique Prog/Metal Band and I was Impressed by this song. The vocal melody which is elegant and majestic was simply Awesome! Einar's voice at the beginning is so hauntingly beautiful then switches to his strong screaming which was Amazing! I also enjoyed watching the (2) drummers performing side-by-side! The atmosphere, the voice and the power made this a remarkable piece of music!!! Thank you, Elizabeth!!! :-)
Was fortunate enough to be able to catch them live in The Electric Ballroom in London this weekend.....these guys blow your socks off...or at least some holes in them....What a show....there is a need for more reactions .....I loved the singing but the rest of the band was amazing....and the drummer(s) is a beast.
I somehow missed this. Leprous is one of my favorite bands (along with Jinjer, Ne Obliviscaris, and other bands you haven’t listened to yet). I want Einar to sing me to sleep. The man’s voice is just phenomenal. And the band is great too (especially Baard, their drummer), I almost love him as much as Einar. PLEASE do more Leprous reactions! Thank you for this reaction. Loved it! Have you checked out any TesseracT yet? If not, I’d recommend “Of Matter” or “Hexes” (both live in studio). 😊
She reacted to ne obliviscaris, more precisely "and plague flowers the kaleidoscope". She also reacted to jinjer 🥰 awesome videos you should take a look
I knew you’d like this song, vocalist, band. You should check out Tesseract. Their quarantine performances are really good. But they have a ton of great songs.
Devin Townsend has the prettiest scream IMO, and also the most intelligible. Love Einar’s cleans so much, and he is one of my favourite vocalists that’s for sure, along with Devin Townsend, Courtney Laplante, “Jesus’s” vocals from Dark Tranquility, and I can’t forget Tom from Evergrey! Tom and Einar have such emotional vocals, Tom has that pained low, almost Chris Cornell style vocals, while Einar has those higher even falsetto style vocals. Keep reacting to these awesome vocalists from all styles of music! Nothing like finding an amazing musician who can impress you, and pull you into loving a genre of music you might have thought you didn’t like. That’s just what amazingly talented musicians can do, they can force you to stop and really listen to their music and excentuate what makes their music great no matter the genre. So keep showing amazing musicians to everyone, and make people fans of all genres of music, nothing better than getting fans of polar opposite music genre’s to be shocked at the amazing talent and musicality that exist within all genres, and all it takes is exposing music fans to amazing musicians, making beautiful music! It can be a simple as that… Keep Crushing it! Love your enthusiasm!
I hope you do more Leprous! I absolutely love Einar's voice! And their music matches and amplifies that emotion .... or vice versa. I think they both play off each other and make for such wonderful, sometimes heart wrenching songs!
This is just an epic reaction to a truly sublime song and performance. I mean really? My gosh this is great. Einar’s ability to sing with so much emotion as well as technical ability is so satisfying. Ahh, so happy to start my day with this.
I discovered this song in september and listened to it for many days straight. I was saying to me that this song recall Freddie Mercury's voice for me. I don't know if it makes sense, but, except the theatrical and classical style of music clearly inserted into this prog metal genre, it seems to me that his voice has some qualities similar to Freddie's. Maybe the way he makes the ornaments, maybe the actual timbre. Maybe all this things. Of course they are all different thing from Queen: it's just that it is very nostalgic to find features in an artist's work that recall you the works of another beloved one.
Arch/Matheos - Kindred Spirits or Neutorically Wired The Gathering - Travel (A Noise Severe DVD) As a vocal nerd, you absolutely need to check those out :).

Loved the reaction video. Excellent as always. You need to check "The Sky is Red" from them. Also, I would recommend "King" from "Tesseract". Daniel Tompkins is an amazing vocalist and he released a "live in the studio vocal performance" video this year for this song and others. Cheers from a Brazilian Fan
Another singer that’s similar to Einar is Arnor Dan Arnarson. I don’t know if you’ve heard of the band Agent Fresco, which he is the lead vocalist for, but check out their life performance of their song Dark Water
I think you would love reacting to some Agent Fresco :) Leprous and AF are very complementary and they actually both toured together for quite a while. Arnór (singer from AF) is an incredible power house of emotions, and worth every second.

Ah ah ah! this was FABOLOUS!! It made me laugh and gave me shivers at the same time. And gave me tons of energy too. You seem a delightful human! You also seem to enjoy so much that I almost feel we witnessed an immaculate coception of sorts ... lol . Thank you for the incredibly positive vibes!
Tesseract "Phoenix" studio recording or "Tourniquete"... She will love Daniel Tompkins
I agree, Eden and Beneath my skin /mirror image are particularly beautiful. I would also recommend Below and At the bottom by Leprous. These are truly epic.
I agree, would love to see her react to Daniel Tompkins
I always want reactors to react to Daniel Tompkins whether skyharbor or tesseract!
Daniel Tompkins visited Earthside's album as well, A Dream in Static is just superb.
Dan is one of a very few vocalists that I would actually consider to be better than Einar. Though she'd be better off listening to something from Skyharbor, particularly off Guiding Lights; Tesseract is great, but his Skyharbor stuff is just a cut better.
Love your reaction, this performance is definitely an emotional overload. I can't imagine the energy being in that crowd and witnessing that.
Me too!! So happy people can watch it now. :-D
I second this. Akerfeldt has the voice of an angel.
This should be way higher up!
@@Sorrowpsalm And a demon.
MAKE OPETH GROWL AGAIN!
Well.. they still do when they play live.
Ghost of Perdition out of those two. Also, why not pick something early? Harvest?
My wife loves it when certain songs come on because the joy in my face is only really captured by a few things, and music is a continued source of that joy. She also asks me to explain to her what it is I love about the certain parts of songs (or entire songs) so I get to really delve into what it is and why I love it. So to be able to point to another person that has that same reaction I do is great.
Some recommendations I have for unique and talented vocalists:
Claudio Sanchez (with or without Coheed and Cambira): "Hello" (Adele cover, one beautiful voice covering another) "Atlas" (live, solo, acoustic cover of the song he wrote for his newborn son) and "Mother Superior" (acoustic version of a Coheed and Cambria song with the full band) are some of the live standouts.
Anthony Green from Circa Survive: Anything really but I think the best show of his incredible and unique voice is on the youtube video of "Get Out (Myspace Transmissions)"
Andrew Mailloux from Rishloo: This one would be harder to find.
Cheers
For other Leprous songs, I recommend "Below" or "Alleviate".
This and Rewind are probably the two best showcases of the pure emotion in Einar's voice. His screams sound primal and anguished.
That outro just keeps haunting me
From their latest album, the song “castaway angels”. This song showcases his voice so beautifully and the song itself is simply breathtaking.
Third Law or Rewind would be great ones to watch, too.
A Leprous song that is getting me through lockdown, is 'Alleviate'. That song just reeks pure overcoming
Please please please more Leprous!! I think you'd love The Sky is Red
Oh you amazing woman...thank you very much. 😊 I hope that you enjoyed Einar's voice as much as i do. 😊
Any leprous video tears me up of joy and being grateful for knowing this perfect band
I was thinking it could be a form of a vocal fry , I just love how it PERFECTLY fits with the song. So happy she reviewed this song !
@@kristofersuba2058 False vocal folds. You can scream high and low, if you doing it correctly. As for how fits the song... Totally agreed.
That checks out, they're from Norway. Love her reaction!
Their live performances grip you by the throat and don’t let go until the very last note. Honestly, you forget to breathe. The whole world should know this band. Their music is so amazing!
Yes!! More Leprous, please ❤
"Distant Bells" is so emocional, it's amazing
Amazing group! Must ad some of them to my playlists, such beautiful and moving music and singing. Thanks for doing these guys.

I have a couple requests:
Oathbreaker - 10:56 / Second Son Of R (Audiotree live)
YOB - Adrift In The Ocean (Live @ Pickathon)
Katatonia - July (from Live Consternation)
Cult Of Luna - Ghost Trail (Live at Scala)
Such a great analysis of his voice. "Acquired Taste" from the same concert also does a great job showing off his range, musical interpretation, and timbre throughout!
Screaming and growling in heavy music is always supposed to show emotion. Sometimes it's meant to demonstrate strength and sometimes it's meant to convey pain.
cringe
@@meanoldfatlady5071 how lol
@@meanoldfatlady5071 its true
sometimes it's generic garbage from talent-less hacks who can't do real metal.
I wish I had friends to hang with who love music as much as you do. Your genuine sincerity makes this channel.
Still waiting for some more Leprous!
If you love the emotion, 'Acquired Taste' is your next stop
Their best song IMO
This song is soo underrated 👌 I teared when I saw it live in 2014
One thing I really think gets missed with Leprous is just how well orchestrated and arranged the music is.
Oh, you're wonderful Kirby. Thank you! And yes, it was spectacular to watch for the first time. And the second. ;-)
Ah good choice Charismatic lady. Looking forward to your vid
Their song “Bonneville” is so beautiful, I sent it to a lady I liked :-)
Thank you so much to bring a video of this band. They are amazing. This song is epic!
I cannot stop listening to “Below” by Leprous. I give it the highest accolades.
@@Tramontano_T I know. I was referencing them, not recommending them.
lerprous is so good! and the singer is certainly one of the best of the genre.
I knew you’d like this song, vocalist, band. You should check out Tesseract. Their quarantine performances are really good. But they have a ton of great songs.
Pls
It can be a simple as that…
Keep Crushing it! Love your enthusiasm!
Listen Queensryche , Take Hold The Flame", great performance.
I can’t approve of this enough. I would love to hear her take on prime Geoff Tate.
@@jamesvarnadore6642 me too
Oh hell yes!
I hope you do more Leprous! I absolutely love Einar's voice! And their music matches and amplifies that emotion .... or vice versa. I think they both play off each other and make for such wonderful, sometimes heart wrenching songs!
1 hour ago, Floor (THE Floor) uploaded her cover of Disney´s Frozen - Let it go.
I instantly thought about you, when i saw it combined.
This is just an epic reaction to a truly sublime song and performance. I mean really? My gosh this is great. Einar’s ability to sing with so much emotion as well as technical ability is so satisfying. Ahh, so happy to start my day with this.
Below is an amazing song with lyrics that hit hard.
Arch/Matheos - Kindred Spirits or Neutorically Wired
The Gathering - Travel (A Noise Severe DVD)
As a vocal nerd, you absolutely need to check those out :).
John Arch is one of the great rock voices for sure. Love his 2 song album.
Totally agree. But, rather either Travel or Waking Hour from The Gathering's TG25 show:
Travel: ruclips.net/video/Y46Lft_BZxo/видео.html
Waking Hour: ruclips.net/video/pUKBV8M_XXE/видео.html
I’d love to see a John Arch reaction. Perhaps even an ICS Vortex (Borknagar/Lamented Souls) reaction as Einar reminds me of his cleaner tone.
There is literally no other singer on this level in the game. I took up singing lessons after 20 years of music because of Einar, he's incredible.
check out "vinushka (live version)" by a japanese band called "dir en grey"
Also Dozing Green or Macabre (Live Tabula Rasa)
Wow i didn't know this band, thank you for this video, now i will explore more of them
Loved the reaction video.
For me "The Sky is Red" is their best song, by far.
I swear I come back to this video at least once a month. You describe how Leprous makes me feel to perfection.
Another singer that’s similar to Einar is Arnor Dan Arnarson. I don’t know if you’ve heard of the band Agent Fresco, which he is the lead vocalist for, but check out their life performance of their song Dark Water
Yes! Finally! Can't wait!
Leprous - From the Flames. Please ! Really emotional song and his head voice is amazing !
Einar's voice is so ethereal, all genders fall in love with him.
Ayreon - Twisted Coil (Electric Castle And Other Tales)
The original by Jasper is more better
Recorded version is better, but live works for a reaction. Makes more sense
The world needs a new Leprous react from you🥳🙏
I agree 100% with you.
I think you would love reacting to some Agent Fresco :)
Leprous and AF are very complementary and they actually both toured together for quite a while.
Arnór (singer from AF) is an incredible power house of emotions, and worth every second.
Now, i must Thank you for introducing me to this amazing band!!!!
Love your videos, your analysis and genuine reactions are great!
Hot tip: Corpo-Mente - Arsalein [Live at Improve Tone Studios, 2015]
Laure Le Prunenec has an amazing voice that I just can't get enough of.
I start being addicted to your musical analyses. So well done. Awesome band and singer. Do not know anything comparable to his voice.
Elizabeth, if you loved his performance here, you DEFINITELY HAVE TO REACT to Distant Bells (studio version). It's Einar's best performance so far.
Soooo looking forward to this🥳🥳🥳
